May 25, 1986 aircheck of WSNJ-FM. Aircheck recorded from Far Northeast Philadelphia. After Mutual News, we hear "Candlelight and Music" for the dinner hour. This programming was common for many stations back in the fifties and sixties. As late as 1986, the station continued to use much of its original equipment dating back to the forties for many years. This is evident with the turntable rumble...

So great hearing Bob Hamilton's voice again! Such a great newsman and radio personality. Also, the date of this is Dec 27, 1985. I was on Christmas break before my last semester at UMSL when this aired. Graduated in May 1986. Also great to hear the Steamers on the sports update! Thank you so much for posting this!
I know the date is Dec 27, 1985. Why not look at the video description?
@@DrewTechner What's with the attitude? I was just highlighting the date because it reminded me I was one semester away from graduating college. I saw the date in the description, so I wasn't implying it wasn't there. There was no reason to come after me like you did.
You are welcome!
The man worked hard to get where he did in life.

Oh. The great days of real radio. ❤️
If you don’t mind me asking… how old were you when you recorded this tape?! Thanks for sharing it! 🫡😊
@@adrianlyord5300 17. I had just come home from school. I was in 11th grade and grabbed my tape recorder.
My folks split time between LA and San Diego and I grew up listening to KNX in both cities 😂
im loving this beautiful staticyness oh that sound of radio is the best
Some wonderful passages & Rosiland Patton's smoky voice is heaven. Thank you.
The irony of William Conrad doing the opening narration of The Fugitive, later on starring in Cannon with guest star..David Jansen The Fugitive!
Come on, nostalgia dollars, bring this back! The closest example I've found in my area is a Lebanon, TN station called AM 900, WKDA and 98.3 on the FM dial. It's not "beautiful music", but it is a collection of softer oldies from the 40s to the 60s. I don't know why it exists, but I'm glad it does.
I remember a version of this sign on when I lived in New Jersey in the early 1970s, when WPVI was WFIL-TV. I still remember the voiceover intoning "This is Philadelphia.." It stuck in my head when I went to a convention in Philadelphia in 2013 and as I got off the plane I said "This is Philadelphia." A great way to show one of the great cities of our nation that's so historic. To this day, it's still the key city in the busily growing three state area of the Delaware Valley. It's a shame they changed the video years later. This is a true gem that shows some sights of a great city.
Countless FM stations during this period aired this format. Most were stations that were put on by the owners of successful AM stations and were run as an also ran to (at the time) dominant AM sister station.
Bagi saya ini adalah studio radio sebenarnya... apalagi bila dipancarkan pada gelombang AM dan memutar kaset ataupun CD secara analog ini adalah seni yang sebenarnya... ❤
Kool!
This is so on brand with the city with the string band. Why isn’t this played after wins these days???? This is so great
My Favourite Ford Show Peanuts Intro!
DAvid damn great job who ever edited this, i know this was long time ago and music is great!!
This brought back memories from the 80's, I would listen to the reports on WDVE in Pittsburgh
Who sings la la means I love you? Love❤FM 92

Ahhhh, one of my favorite Jersey memories!
Wow! So glad you shared this! My parents put this on in our bedroom to lull us to sleep. "WPAT, easy 93..." My grandparents did the same at their place. ❤ I truly love this relaxing music. As I got older, I used to sing the words and pretend that WPAT was my personal instrumental channel. Lol! 😂 Lots of fond memories.
Best beer on the planet. I have a half Keg in my Kegerator. I will never drink another beer.Great History and Great family ! Thank you!
And I do have that post cart ……..GREDIN FROM THE FABULOUS SHERRy Frontenac.
I use to go on holiday on that hotel…back in 1992 - 1999.
Loved this station when it was top 40
This brought back good memories. I was a DJ, at the same time, at an identical oldies station in Providence. Your station probably had the same consultants as we did, because it sounds the exact same, the same music, same id's, everything. This was in the good old days of radio, before automation took over and killed radio as a music medium.
@@bobkay5088 WPRO-FM?
@@DrewTechner Actually WWBB-FM, aka B101, "Bee101"(The logo of the bumble bee leaning against a jukebox), "Good Times, Great Oldies". Automation took over shortly after and everybody left. It's now 80s and 90s hits, a weird mix of everything from Celine Dion to ACDC.
@bobkay5088 thank you!
My dad was a WWII vet, and whenwver we went anywhere he would turn on WPAT.
Great stuff!!
On a clear cool day you can get 1210am as far as the carolinas. Ive gotten wlw in Philadelphia.

WAAF was my inspiration to become a DJ. I listened every night from the Albany, NY area in the mid and late 70s. I eventually became the late night jock at WPYX (PYX106), Albany's top rock station. Best 7 (+/-) years of my life!
God, radio used to be so great! Tony's opening is so classic.
Is that you Drew at the beginning of the video?
@@MrJacMac1968 yes
36:53 Jeff Kaye's utter disbelief. 😆 I wonder if ANYONE showed up... well, besides the brilliant person who insisted the course be held during an historic blizzard. There's always at least one -- teacher, manager, employer, etc. -- who insists on people needlessly risking life and limb during serious weather emergencies. It's good to hear the great Jefferson Kaye's disgust over that stupidity.
Rest In Peace to the legendary Dr Ruth Westheimer 🕊️ 🙏🏾
Best WCBS news sounder. It's my text tone.
I grew up here. Had so much fun as a kid exploring everything. Then in the summer we spent all day every day at the beach. Curly grass grows next to the teaberry plants. We used to pick and eat the wild teaberries.
