    Mr. Worst, thank you for your free knowledge sharing. By this simple video I unclogged my jet (accessible via a simple drain plug), thus avoiding taking off all the pump and plumbing and taking it to the repair shop only for a few debris. The pump is 25 years old and works like new now !

    Hello, Chris.....so I have a Flotec 2 HP pump.....it recently (last couple of years when before it was POOF INSTANT ON) sometimes pushes my sprinklers and sometimes it doesn't.....it was overhauled in the last 10-12 months.......it may work on a Wed. and Sat. of the same week and then not on Monday of the next.....surrounding neighbors don't have a sprinkler system and seem to have the same pressure........???????????? been told it most likely is an air leak on the inlet side....would you agree? the easiest way to test? is a metal inlet better than a PVC one? thanks!

    Hi when my pump turns on, there's no change in pressure... and what I do is close the ball valve in between the pump and tank.. and the pressure spikes up, then I open it it locks to 60 and will stop if the tank is at 60psi, Is this an early sign if trouble?

    I would like more info on this , I’ve been having problems with my pump . I was told I needed the whole irrigation system had to be installed for the pump to work properly ,
    Pump jumps up to 76 amps , when it’s rated for 37 when valve is open entirely . And I’ve been having trouble getting installed and running properly , even the folks I bought it from don’t know and tell me , the entire system of irrigation need to be in place for the marching to operate properly. And help would be appreciated .

    Hey Chris, need some advice. Our jet pump pulls from our lake, a run of maybe 40’. New brass foot valve 2 years ago. Never had a problem until last year. Had some tap cartridges that froze, although have never changed my routine. Did open drain plug at pump base, draining pump and did add plumbers antifreeze.
    Now pump builds pressure albeit with gurgling and what sounds like frothing or mixing with air. When I stop the pump to fill it, it will only take maybe half a cup of water before it’s full which tells me there is no leak in the suction pipe. The hot water tank when its filling is bubbling with air. If you open a tap it’s spurting out with air, then water, then a mixture of both. Then after a minute or two it’s consistent water with an occasional spurt of air. Now the pump will start due to a drop in pressure and run for about 10 minutes, then finally stop. Wondering if it’s something in the pressure tank or possibly like you mentioned, a blockage in the jet? Would this cause these symptoms? Appreciate any help/advice!!

    Hi thanks for the videos! My pump operates between 30 and 50 psi but when it reaches 50 it shuts off and loses pressure back down to just above 30psi. Do you think it's the foot valve?

    • @frankdevo5715
      @frankdevo5715 Před 4 dny

      Try shutting off the water to the rest of the house and isolating the leak.
      If your pump is still losing prime it’s likely a bad foot valve or injector at the bottom of the well. When I pulled mine the injector had several holes causing it to lose prime.

    Good morning Chris . Thank you very much for all of your brilliant work on all the videos you have posted . They are veery informative and educational. I have personally understood everyone of them . I’m a retired injured vet and your videos have helped me understand how my system works . I currently have a two pipe jet pump system . I have now had to replace every part on my system from the foot valve to the pressure tank and plumbing in my house lol. Took me longer than I thought but it’s now done. It is wasent for your videos I would still be lost in the dark lol.
    My question to you is this . What in the pressure control valve and how does it work . There is one in this video on top of the jet pump the brass piece . What does it do and how do I adjust it.
    My new pump can with one and it was described as a priming T and a flow control valve . I don’t understand the directions in the install hand out you get with the pump.
    Do I need this or should it be install?
    My pump seems to run ok and cycles on and off with no problems 20/40 . My well is 76,6” deep from the casing head. I have water 15, from the top of the casing .i raised the foot valve up 10’ from where it sat . The old pipe and foot valve were around 66’ down .
    We do have a huge iron problem where I live and I’ll be trying to treat that soon some how with filters and so on.
    I have already blown through pumps the original pump that was put in some time in the 80s . The other new pump was a half hp and the mounting feet were broken off right out of the box and the mechanical seal is leaking out the back .
    My new pump is now a 1 hp convertible pump (HD did not have anything left so it was my only option for a pump.
    Can you give me some advise on this adjustment valve and maybe how to get some of the iron out of my water .
    I have called well companies around my area and all they wanted to do is sink and new casing and install a sub pump.when all was said and done it was going to be around 13k (ouch) . Any advise would help me at this point . Oh I also do not have this adjustable valve installed . I just installed a 1” adaptor on the discharge hole directly to my tank . Thanks in advance .

      Thanks for commenting! Glad our videos have helped you. I am not 100% sure on what you are referring to on the pressure control valve. I am thinking you might be talking about a pressure regulator, which is commonly applied in deep well jet pump applications to provide back pressure to to pump to prevent cavitation by restricting flow. If your pump is running quiet without it, I wouldn't worry about it. Cavitation tends to be loud and gravely sounding. So if you were indeed talking about a pressure regulator I hope that answered your question, otherwise let me know what part you are talking about.

    • @minimule1
      @minimule1 Před 3 lety +1

      Chris Worst hinthere yes you are correct on the type of valve . The valve was located on the discharge side of my pump that went to the pressure tank. This is all now taken care of as the damn 1/2 hp pump blew out the rear seal and the mounting foot broke off so it had to go back to HD . I don’t want to bash them it wasn’t their fault . They took it back and I up graded to the 1 hp model . My well is only 76 feet deep and I raised the new foot valve up 10 feet . I still have over 50 feet over top of my foot valve with no issues . I’m now 40 psi at the tap running pressure and that’s trough a new filtration system to try and reduce the iron in my water which is over 500 ppm . At least it’s usable lol . Your videos helped me out a lot and I look forward to more cheers from the great white north .

      Probably not -- a professional cyclist can put out a sustained wattage of around 300 watts (400 peak). Most jet pumps are about 3/4 hp -- or 560 watts. So if you're a pro, you can probably run your pump for about a minute, maybe.

    Mine doesn't suck any water it stays all in the suction pipe and the pipe down the well is full of water to the top and check valve, it expels out only the priming water I put in what's happening with my drummond pump??? Maybe the impeller jet clugged???

  • @michaelalford7006
    @michaelalford7006 Před rokem

    Pump has been completely. rebuilt ( impeller, diffuser, gaskets, seals, etc), Jets have been cleared, Leaks have been addressed. Pressure tank is brand new and holding air. It has sufficient access to water on the intake side. Motor is turning. Check valves are functioning. Both the intake and the discharge side have been primed. It will run like a champ for a few minutes and then water pressure will slowly drop off to nothing even as the pump continues to turn. If you pour water back down its throat it will run for a few more minutes until the issue repeats itself. Any ideas?
    So far I've had a plumber, a farmer and a general contractor look at it and nobody has any idea.

      What finally worked (and I dont know why) is I a) replumbed the entire supply side from the water source to the pump. When I did that I changed the place where I was priming it from. It worked, and is still working . I praised the Lord and then took a shower.@@souperdave2009

    My jet pump (shallow well) will not achieve pressure. I put a new pressure switch on, Expansion tank is set to 38 psi. It holds pressure, It just cannot achieve pressure. The pump shows 50 pounds psi but will not shut off. I manually shut it off now and again it hold pressure, so no leaks!!! Baffling!!!

    • @wendyking9759
      @wendyking9759 Před 3 lety

      I'm no expert. But it sounds like your more than likely plastic impellers are melted warped or broken

    • @wendyking9759
      @wendyking9759 Před 3 lety

      Plus the pumps motor might be weakened. With impeller blades destroyed, no water would move

    • @wendyking9759
      @wendyking9759 Před 3 lety

      Another possibility is an obstruction of water flow. But, I lieu of having left pump to run for 6 hrs without water flow, it's amazing that it's still running at all

    • @wendyking9759
      @wendyking9759 Před 3 lety

      So open up.housing to see if you can replace impeller. Afyer replacing impellerThen seal housing well. And do a pressure test. Letting water pump out through a hose without impedenve, you should be able to fill two 5 gal bucks or more in 60 secs
