Since they've chosen to outsource these positions with constantly less money offered to the call centers relative to inflation and with increasing demands and ever ever ever more limited tools and resources you basically can't get customer service anymore. I don't know if it's that way for you, but even when I call to schedule a doctor's appointment I get transferred to India or the Philippines, and about half the time they pretend their headset isn't working so they can say hello three times and then hang up. They aren't paid to do any more than that. The jobs shouldn't have been outsourced in the first place.

      You can go over the top with that. Recently I had to set up an account with my local council and the strong password my OS generated to go with my username was too big for their system. I'm not going to lie, it was infuriating and really monkeywrenched what should have been an easy process.

      Having worked Tier 2 before, it sometimes felt like our Tier 1 team DID escalate every ticket to us.
      It was true for some of them, though. I won't insult their intelligence or work ethic myself; some tickets that they "couldn't solve" do that well enough.

    Damn, I used to be essentially Tier 3 support, and so were my coworkers, and when you combine the stuff we knew due to our job with the stuff we heard from "lower decks" paints a picture that makes this game - at least this episode - seem quite pleasant, sane and healthy xDDDD

    As a tier 3 level tech support representative (for a big well known company that I will not name) I can say that except for the “Indigo” conspiracy and the bribe request a lot of the A.I. customer complaints were right on. Most people have NO idea just how stressful and ridiculous the calls are that we receive. I could tell you stories that you would not believe. Besides that, at least 40 percent of the calls are because people can not remember their passwords and have no idea how to request a reset except to call us.

    I used to work IT for my college work study. It was pretty much exactly like this, except a about 10% of it was over the phone and it was dead most of the time. Your level of respect for tech support is probably appropriate. The guys who recieve the escalated tickets are the real heroes - the ones who run around campus to actually fix stuff instead of just suggesting over email to turn the device off and back on again.
