The developers of GT obviously has a deep appreciation for the beauty of cars and they want to immerse you in it with different landscapes so you can feel that passion, and you definitely feel it.
Forza developers on the other hand seems to have more of a passion for just playing racing games. One thing I really love about Forza is being able to interact with the car a little bit as you can explore, walk around, open doors, trunks and open the hood too see the engine. I appreciate GT more serious, photo real-life approach, with minor things like beeping your horn, flashing your hazards and your headlights washing your car changing your oil, buying from the used car lot, more realistic steering wheel turning animations, and when looking back, seeing your backseats, rear window and wing, along with the waving of the green and checkered flag. Again these are minor things but these are the things that are evidence of seriousness and realism. I'm enjoying both games, I like em both although GT just calls me more, I'm more attracted to playing it. People complain about the camera and I can see why but thats not an issue for me as I always play in cockpit view, it's more real and challenging that way. GT does need to work on sense of speed for sure although I feel like it's more real, maybe. I feel like for as long as Forza has been in the making and it's on the so called most powerful gaming console graphically the star of the show (the car models) should've been better with this so called next gen thing. I feel the folks at Polyphony does it better and give you more graphically with less vs the folks at Turn 10. If Polyphony took all the time to make GT as Turn 10 took to make Forza and they has access to the same so called most powerful game console, GT would absolutely reign supreme!
yes GT was always a game more about the beauty of the car, the details and the beauty of driving it in a beautifully landscape. Forza is more about the Fun in racing, the speed, the competition even against AI.
I thing that's good, both have a different approach on a Racing game.

You can adjust the chase camera to make it more dynamic which is similar to Forza. Check the camera settings.

Gran Turismo looks 10x better than Forza. I don't know what it is but there's something about the Forza visuals that I just don't like.
Lots of people saying lowering brightness fixes it somewhat. I guess the brightness makes it look fake? IDK. I think they both look decent to me.
yea that's what I did to mine, it's still a little milky looking but nowhere near as bad as it is when you first start the game up

Massive Forza fan here but the difference is just night and day when you go this deep! Very very pleased with the gameplay in Forza but some of the textures are embarrassing
GT7 does have adjustable fov for interior and exterior it’s in the display settings which can be accessed while pausing the game during gameplay, ur car was in the “Far” setting for the 3rd person view in this video, you can chose the “near” option as well to get similar to forza
There is no FOV for the interior - you can adjust your seat but that does not change the FOV, sorry

biggest issue with Forza is car paint and trim pieces lose depth when out on the track ,everything looks flat .

2:05 I'd say the special place to view the car from every angle in GT7 is the VR Showroom. That's completely insane with HDR on. It is really like this car is next to you. I have no idea what kind of magic Polyphony uses for the car paints and materials but they had to sold a bunch of high quality souls to get those results.
I really can't believe that Forza Motorsport "8" is a game that was released on the new Xbox Series consoles, because it manages to look worse than Forza Horizon 5 on the Xbox One. With it being exclusive to the new gen consoles, I really expected the game to look good. And the differece between the two models is crazy. Another car that you should make a comparison is that old Jaguar that I believe is on both games. In that model you can clearly see the quality difference.

For me, once I viewed the cars in VR on GT7 I found a whole new appreciation for the level of detail. Same with the tracks. I enjoy the physics and online racing more in FM8 but GT7 beats it in every other way, so much more polished overall with loads more content. Although the foundation for FM8 is promising and could be a really impressive game in 12 months, but right now it's a bit disappointing

@overheatedeskim054 no definitely the show room VR, looks incredible IMHO, also the amount of showroom locations is impressive as well, but agree they definitely tone it down out on track, but I do love the VR replays, nothing else like it, had a bunch of mates round, and we must of spent an hr taking turns just watching a replay.

Despite the track being a major flaw in gt7, having the cars be the main focus of the game lay the foundation to a more future proof car list less prone to a degrade in quality, while track polygon count can just increase with the extra output the next generation of console can produce.
While the entertainment value in forza is MUCH higher due their current choices, if and when they do change their old models, will inevitably stab them in the foot like what happened with gtsport. Their best decision is what I think is happening right now, keeping old models but updating some in the process. This does have its faults, such as the inconsistencies in model quality, plus the best ones don't have the capacity to level gt7's quality.

It doesnt take high res to see thet Forza 8 looks outdated. Every black piece is grey, every material doesn't react to light like it should, everything that should be in shadow isn't dark enough or glows in odd places especially the wheel arch or the rim and brakes.
Did they take out the ability to look around while using the cockpit camera? I swore you could do that before, by using the right thumbtick, but now you can't look around at all (or at least i haven't found a way to do it).
Good comparison. As a PC owner, I wish more developers would put in the care that Sony exclusive developers do. I would also trade all of the refined close up details for optimised distant shots. I don't need to see the inside of my exhausts, but I want my pearl paint to pop in the sun.
Honestly, ignoring the old car models from FM, we’ve reached a level of fidellity where the actual diference that we notice in gameplay is choices of art direction, like the strong sun reflection on the car paint in GT.
FM 8 is has no contrast at all, maybe to be more HDR? To feel more close as the human eye? usualy GT looks like it was shot by a professional TV broadcast, and FM was shot by a Hollywood director I feel.
I really like the stiff camera from GT tho. I wish that you could configure the camera to be stiff or to sway more in FM.

U can con fig the gt7 cam, pause game and goto camera settings and select wobble type 2 for in dash simulated head movement or 3rd person motorsport cam for looser nfs type car cam exterior view. U can also adjust near or far fov

Can you believe that you claimed GT7 doesn't have an adjustable FOV? I mean, are we really on the same game here? 🤨🤨 Since GT Sport has camera settings, you need to pause the game, head to settings, and navigate to display settings all the way at the bottom. I'm just setting the record straight because we should aim for accurate information. 😬😬

Its just crazy how good the cars look in gt7 even during gameplay imagine if you could play on highend pc and Max all settnings, enviroments is not the beat out there trial mountain look beautiful through, their car models is the best on the market

GT7 had very nice cubemaps to adapt the 3D models with pictures, its very fun to fiddle with cubemaps, gives a great lightning ! It was done in GT4 afaik ! very entertaining video, noticed the lack of trackside objects in GT7 compared to FM. just check the difference between both games at the right side models and detail before the last turn. well.

@DUBS The oil looking pattern you talk about in the comparison is actually dirt marks. If you reset the car damage in photomode this oil pattern is gone.

@@DUBSmb I was looking at the front logo on the track and hit damage reset button and it disappeared for me. Give it a try. I don't know why it's in forza Vista then also.
The difference is GT sun glares are over done and forzas are under done. Somewhere in the middle would be perfect.
Forza's one are not underdone at all. There's a specific time in the afternoon where it feels like you get flash banged, can't remember what track but I've had it in one of my videos before. I couldn't see anything
GT7 does have a adjustable FOV cockpit view and chase cam far and near

They outsource their car model build, PD does not. They do it all in house with their own developer and designers which tends to keep the detail levels and accuracy at a high level.
I find it very interesting how GTs chase cam is so stiff compared to FMs, but the roles are completely reversed in Cockpit view. FMs cockpit view feels 2d at times when the lighting hits certain angles.
GT chase cam is adjustable and can be as loose as Forzas chase cam

Depending on the time of year having the sun that high at 3pm is realistic. Unless it's winter and getting dark at 5pm the sun doesn't set until about 7 or 8.

You should of done forza On Spa to recreate the bright ass color pallet of Gran Turismo! lol Forza has a warm Fliter where Gran Turismo is a Cold filter!

the corvette in forza is the E-ray I believe, it has all wheel drive. GT7 has the stingray which is only rear wheel drive.

FM on PC is 100x more detailed and reflective than on x series x. I have it on both platform.
As a long time Forza fan, it's clear that Polyphony care for the attention to detail on the cars, as opposed to Turn 10 being another Corporate cashgrab.
I’m happy that I didn’t pay for the new Forza Motorsport. I had a feeling that this game was going to be a let down. And now that I’ve seen and heard the game I just cannot justify spending money on it when Forza Motorsport 7 feels and looks largely the same albeit small changes here and there. Along with the bone headed upgrade system (seriously, has anyone at Turn 10 made a Forza game before? Could’ve fooled me.
the plastic in forza (1:56) looks so odd, its too bright, the shadowed side looks great but the bright side looks cheap and flat, also in real life its glossy black im not sure why they made it matte gray
it looks like faded plastic. my car looked like that after 7 years of parking in the sun every day. then i did plastic treatment to make all plastics black again because it looks fugly like this.
Imagine gran turismo 7 with forza numer of cars and customization and the old forza damage model , it would be a perfect game
The thing is that Poliphony puts so much effort into the details, I mean every single material, every single noch is to perfection that the modeling time per vehicle is so drastically different. It's like the standards of GT7 car models are so much higher.
Forza is so much more realistic driving experience , great graphics , great feel , great multiplayer . My PS5 is now gathering dust

For the photo mode in GT7, has nothing bad to tell anyone i suppose. Just unique and amazing.
FM either at console either at pc, has very but very bad interiors. Check out the new panamera, the new golf R, the dashes are darky, solid, unbelievable bad graphics. Even the dials from the dashboards, are not clear.
FM has to update everything(about 30 gb update maybe......)
The reason GT7 is able to get soo much more detailed car models is that there are fewer cars in the game compared to forza and polyphony's main focus is quality over quantity and vise verca for forza.
I'm a Gran Turismo guy since the PS1 Gera. The only thing that kinda make me wanna play Forza is some of the cars we don't have in GT7 (Mitsubishi FTO, Peugeot 308 etc...) Forza used to be great until FM7 ruins the franchise...

Gran Turismo car models are miles better than anything else. You can't even argue the precision.
Built from ground up = Physics / Tire simulation / suspension ... the graphics engine is still the same as its been for last few forza titles .. forzaengine ... it hasnt had any update to it or been redone .... when they said built from the ground up they were talking about the tires / suspension and they even dove into it that during a few behind the scenes pre-launch
I like the lighting in Forza more but the textures in gran Turismo look so much better

The overly glossy look of literally everything in forza is really bugging me. Almost every part of any car is just way too glossy. Am I the only one who’s seeing this?
GT7 in scape has 10 million polygons, but only 1 million polygons in replay mode, just so you know
Not impressed with Forza, sometimes it looks like hot garbo IMHO. The reflections and lightning are so off for me.
As a C8 owner, GT cars look better. The black areas in the front fascia are Carbon Flash (metallic). The front splitter is matte but the front of the car is actually shinny. Tracks go to Forza by quite a lot, though. Update: checked my headlights and they do have a pattern like the Forza game (small squares).
Assetto and gt7 have the best tracks out of all the racing games. They are exactly 1:1. Forza seems to make their tracks by someone describing it to them. They can't even get the elevation changes correct. Also, the outside of the track is just saturated with trees, which are not supposed to be there. Most tracks don't even show the horizon as they use trees to block everything off as to save on draw distances and pop ins. Forzas tracks are very cheaply made.
I Have both games but it’s hard for me to enjoy forza’s visuals and gameplay when Granturismo7 is just far superior
Lol this reminds me of iPhone vs Samsung camera quality. iPhone(Forza) being overly saturated and vivid and appealing to the masses , Samsung( GT7) being more true to life which some people view as bland/dull.
Forza has a very weird unnatural look to it sometimes but it does have a very eye catching look to it ,tied in with the enviornment and camera movements. Also dont think its fair to use the PC version . Series X would be a better comparison.

GT7's immaculate lighting and car models just take the win here. One thing Forza is is ahead in is the track itself though.

The car models are better in GT7, Forza in performance mode has an unstable image at times, like shimmering on certain fine car details, GT7 doesn't. Performance RT is practically useless, res drops down and it shows, softens the picture too much and can barely see any difference with rt on or off. Feel of the cars goes to Forza though, the cars are a tad too planted in GT7 especially under heavy braking, Forza nails the handling and the sensation of speed much better.
I think gt7 looks a bit better but gameplay wise I like forza better, and even though I am a gran turismo fan at heart if I had to pick 1 game to play I would pick forza

GT7 has Ray Tracing in photo mode while it doesn't when racing so using photo mode to compare is useless
Ummm, GT7 doesn't have RTX, that's an Nvidia buzzword. It does use Ray Tracing for specific things in photo mode as standard such as accurate mirror reflections and such, Forza does the same if you do want notice. 🙄😒

Gran Torismon does have more detail if you zoom in but overall in my opinion the atmosphere in Forza Motorsport is much better. Thats just my opinion tho 😅

it's weird. when you change from forza to GT, i like the GT image better because of the contrast... for 2 seconds. then it starts to break down when i notice how the lighting is weird, the scenery is so much worse and all that stuff. also teh camera is garbage. one thing i can say for sure. not a fan of either. they both tickle me wrong in the way they look. fh5 still looks better than both.
Gt7 in my opinion is hands down better than forza in every way. I played Forza after GT just to have a different track to race on and couldn’t really enjoy it. Forza just looks bland and boring with no sparkle.

GT7 looks like a movie but at times looks like PS4 when it comes to actual gameplay, Forza ruined their hdr and it drives me crazy. The game looks so washed out. You can't even notice the ray tracing. Using reshade helps the game a ton, but I shouldnt need that.

Hmm... are you sure you maxed out the graphics on Forza? Including Raytracing? Tested it on my PC and FM looks better... especially antialiasing and reflections, but also details, sharpness and clarity. You also picked bad conditions to compare. Both games use different seasons for this track (desert brown summer look in FM vs. lush green spring look in GT7). Forza also looks its worst (very flat and desaturated) at afternoon in clear weather when the sun is highest (which mimics reality to a degree). For some reason the lighting in FM really falls flat in these conditions. Every other time of day or weather and Forza looks a lot better especially in rain or wet conditions (of course). The more realistic desaturated color palette in Forza is a matter of taste. For NVIDIA users: You can adjust the look (colors, contrast and more) with NVIDIA Freestyle (works like ReShade). I agree that in these lighting conditions and on this track, GT7 looks better, but overall (other tracks, lighting and weather conditions) I prefer FM. Its close though. I also agree that the garage in FM is really bad and the photo mode in GT7 is much better than in FM. As far as details of car models go, I think both are even overall and it heavily depends on the car. Best looking racing game on the market still is Forza Horizon 5 in my opinion, but FM and GT7 both look "good (enough)" for a more sim orientated game. Technically I'm a bit more impressed with GT7 than FM because it runs on a (weaker) console in that quality (maybe a reason why they can't afford custom fov).

Ray tracing dont ad that mutch since it's only car self-reflections other cars and rtao for interiors but the eviorment reflections stil use cubemaps, mirrors planar reflections and wet tracks use ssr. Still its looks good but i expected more from it the reveal trailes showed better rt and lighting.
@@mr-white8798 yeah, it definitely doesn't look as good as in earlier trailers / gameplay demos, including the announced global illumination, that's now completely missing. I think as always the console version got priority and the pc version falls way behind its potential. They promised improvements. Lets see what they do.

But all this videos of Forza side to side looks very weird, i have the game on PC and is nothing like this i mean, Forza is not photorealistic as Gt have been always been, maybe looks this bad only at xbox,... Personally I feel its to early to compare these games, GT7 has been out over a year with updates. Forza has alot of work to do, but the base is there.
The appearance of GT7 hasn't changed since its launch, and that's because I played it on the release day not even gt sport because polyphony Digital are perfectionists. It seems like Forza still needs more time to be fully polished; perhaps another year of development would have been beneficial. It's crucial to introduce new car models to keep up and forza they only car to show new cars and they don’t take to much time to make those cars perfect . In contrast, Polyphony Digital has been consistently updating their cars since the launch of GT6 back when the PS4 was released every cars takes to much time so much time to the point they are Future proofing to next gran turismo
