  • Fix a Sagging Gate. This is really easy. I used a "kit," but you can buy the parts separately. The kit cost me $15 from Ace Hardware.

    Here is another video, showing detail on the top and bottom brackets.

    You turned the buckle towards you to tighten.
    If the buckle was placed along the cable in the opposite direction (essentially backwards), one would have to turn it away from them to tighten.
    EXCELLENT vid, thank you.

    I understand that the gate sags because of the weight of the gate causes the hinges to sag/bend.
    I was looking for a way to fix my gate with the hinges right off the bat. Would adding a higher gauge hinge / double hinges do the trick?

    Hello, Can this product work on a vinyl gate?

    Not to be too nitpicky, but it is called a wire rope clip. The “saddle“ is just one part of it.

    How do u prevent it from warping after fixing the sag?

  • @MovingToMnPro
    @MovingToMnPro Před 2 lety +1

    Often gates get a twist as well. This method works provided it doesn't increase the twist.

    Looks like a great solution but it seems as though the gate has to be removed in order to screw on the bottom bracket.

    • @francinecorry633
      @francinecorry633 Před 2 lety +1

      I believe the 4 bottom bracket holes are on the side and in the front so no need to remove the gate.

    My ex did this for my gate in the back yard but the threads pulled out and now the gate sags again. =/ I suggest using Lock tite red to keep the threads from pulling,

    • @Diamonddog59
      @Diamonddog59 Před 2 lety +3

      the cable will stretch in time so you have to leave enough thread to tighten it more when that happens or shorten the wire.

    Those gate kits can twist a gate permanently because they pull from one side.

    • @93cruz
      @93cruz Před 2 lety +2

      But then your gate will still be sagging. The top part of the gate will still be uneven if you don’t lift it.

    • @bradrunsslow
      @bradrunsslow Před 2 lety +1

      Eventually your latch won't match up. Then when you actually do fix it you'll have a big ugly gap at the bottom of your gate door.

  • @MrEarlbyron
    @MrEarlbyron Před rokem +2

    Be careful of this Ace product! I will be returning mine tomorrow. The turnbuckle threads (on mine) are such that turning either direction in the middle pulls in on one end and releases the other an equal amount; thus no tightening is possible! One end is showing metal shards so it must have backwards threaded itself somehow. Must be very cheap construction.

      This means you need to switch the screws: the hook screw in A side needs to go to B side, and the hook screw in B side needs to go to A side
