I have a 15.5 kohler commander, I bought it in 1999.
It still runs Great, I just find the 1st generation steering box which I replaced and the wear on the new one after a year is needing repair the support bracket is allowing the teeth to slip.
I have replaced the spindles but the mower housing is still intake.
I know a few people who had those cubs from the early 2000's and the steering gear seemed to always be the issue. The rest of the mower held up great but we had to replace a steering gear more then once. My understanding is this newer set up is supposed to fix that. I will see. I have around 125 hours on it right now. So far so good.
I had this tractor for 5 years never had a single issue with it Kohlar 7000 engine good motor
Good to know. Thank you. I have around 120 hours now I believe and it's still going good.
I dont like the briggs and stratton but your kohler shook itself apart? Huh
It sure did. I had no idea it was a common problem on them engines that I had until after it happened. I started looking it up online. Talked to the technician at the dealer. Found out I wasn't the first to have the issue LOL I don't like bricks and Stratton either.
Get a helmet light for night cutting
Now that's an idea.
Thanks guys im thinking about buying this on Facebook marketplace for 1300k.Any thoughts?
I'm going to guess your talking about an xdt2 with a 42inch deck and the same engine, so how many hours are on the one your looking at?
Why would you want the same brand engine if your's blew up?? Man it starts up instantly.
I'm not a fan of Briggs and Kohler makes good engines. It seems they just had a bad family for a while. So far this new line of engine is pretty solid from what I've seen. All though I've not spent to much time looking into it after I bought this one. I have around 126 hours on it now I believe and its running great. Yes, I love how nice this starts up with the auto choke for sure. Probably my favorite feature on this mower.
grease your steering :) nice video
I definitely need to do that. Thank you for watching.
Why are dealers so far and in between. Would like to buy but none of substance are me.
My guess is, they can't put a dealer in every town or you wouldn't be able to stay open. Not enough business. Sometimes the competition is to high in certain areas as well were a manufacturer doesn't think its a good financial decision to open a dealer. These are just my thoughts. If you have a home depot or farm and fleet or L&M fleet in your area, I know they all sell cub cadet mowers. I think they are all xt1's but still, xt1 and xt2 are pretty much the same from what I've seen.
After 400 hours on my Cub Cadet lawn tractor, Kohler 7000 series engine DIED. No one will help me and all they say is sorry 😢 buy another.👎thousands of dollars down the drain
Yikes. That's terrible. I wonder what failed? I know the courage engines had issues but I was told these newer 7000 series were solid. I'm sorry to hear that. My courage blew a head gasket around 350 hours on my old husqvarna.
That is terrible!!
400 hours is way out of warranty, so ofc they wont help you lol
So buying a replacement engine, rather than a whole new mower is not something you considered?
@@tedschmitt178 I have been quoted for that engine hundreds of dollars ( if not thousands of $$) plus labor so it is thousands of dollars. Right now, I am trying to find a tractor while my Cub Cadet sits in the garage.🥺
Your wrong I have grease zerks on my xt1
That is why I said the dealer told me. We all know how accurate dealers can be, especially when they're trying to sell you something lol. I've also noticed that the XT ones have made some changes since 2017 so it wouldn't surprise me if zirk fittings was one of them. Just out of curiosity, what year is your mower? And do you have a 42-in deck? Because maybe this was a 42-in deck thing and not a 46 in on the XT1. Just like the dealer told me that engine that I wanted 7000 series, you could not get on the XT1 at the time.
