Some of the most prestigious towns in North Jersey, Ridgewood, Glen Rock, Montclair, Wyckoff & Franklin Lakes are all within a 5 mile radius from Paterson. Wild how it’s surrounded by wealthy suburbs yet is the complete opposite of that. I’d say Paterson is the worst city overall in the Tri State area (with the bleakest future). God bless everyone who’s trying to make it out of there bc shit not a joke over there
In the 1970's Paterson already had such a bad reputation that the voters in neighboring East Paterson voted to change the town's name to Elmwood Park. But Elmwood Park is now suffering since the factory complex that was its biggest employer burned down.
Paterson has serious potential, but the problem is that if the city isn't ran by people that care, then the citizens will never care either. You can say that about a lot of other cities as well.
Mannnn P town used to have so many old 80s cars running around, back when u could get a vanilla cone for 25 cents at the Mcdonalds on Martin Luther King drive. Time is moving too fast.
Racism was so ingrained up there that when I met my husband in 1990 he was under the impression that Reuben was guilty. Family went way back in Paterson. Know idea why they never left.
Actually there's two parts to Patterson if you go on the east side you have beautiful mansions with a lot of property there's good and bad in every city in America
Oi sou brasileiro.
I was just there working over the summer , was hiking out there from Pennsylvania to work with family.Paterson looks the same mostly as it always has , I did notice some area were they had some bombed out projects by home depot they demo'd and stuck in some nice town homes. But it is what it is , not my first draft pick for sight seeing lol
Same with my hometown of Springfield OH. Family left when I was a baby in 1980. My mom wanted to cry when my brother and I recently took her to see some old friends. Her and my late dad's beautiful house was literally crumbling away.
My dad was born in the mid 40s and grew up around Patterson and concluded even by the mid 1960s that it was a lost cause. If you were a leader- a WEF leader lets say- what would you do w/ a place like Patterson?
Ya know, if it weren't for the colleges and universities in and around Boston and the high tech and biotech industries they attracted and created, the old cities of Eastern Massachusetts would look just as sad as this 😭😢
Ahhh look at those fine upstanding youth hanging outside of the community health center! Heartwarming to see! I'm sure they are there to spread the word on the latest health tips to passerby's!
Could be a clinic. Maybe waiting for a suboxone dose. Opioids are hard to come by these days. It's all Fentanyl. Don't judge because it shows your ignorance and lack of human compassion.

What part of the video? ??:??
The crazy thing many people don’t understand is that some of the wealthiest suburbs in the northeast are within a 15 mile radius of Paterson.
Yup Bergen and Union county make no sense

This city reminds of me of the movie "Lean on Me"
Eastside high school. That's the school. Park ave and market street and carrol street.
In the 1970's Paterson already had such a bad reputation that the voters in neighboring East Paterson voted to change the town's name to Elmwood Park. But Elmwood Park is now suffering since the factory complex that was its biggest employer burned down.
Same thing with West Paterson. Now it’s Woodland Park lol
the proliferation of vinyl siding in Paterson is impressive.
So is the number of New England three-deckers
I grew up outside of Paterson in the 60'sm we used to go downtown and shop till 10 pm and it was safe

S/O to my town.
Every city has pros and cons. No place is perfect. I think Paterson is cool compared to a lot of other cities around the U.S.👍
I don’t
Paterson doesn't look that bad compared to McKeesport, PA. When I looked at THAT video, couldn't believe it was in the good old USA.
Patterson looks better then Camden and Philly
Yes, those two cities are the worst, alongside Detroit, Cleveland and East Cleveland

It ain't the same since Damiano ain't on the beat.
It’s going to be another grueling winter
This series should be entitled “Americas Shitholes”

Its crazy my dad comes here casually for work
You missed a lot of the worst blocks out there
Only thing you are doing is riding around and videoing the streets you know nothing about.
For your info, I was born in Paterson lived there for a few years and have relatives I regularly visit there.
shoutout RetcH

Just say that you hate black people instead of being a passive-aggressive little bitch.
Yep spreading that culture of warmth, family and friends. Very wholesome
Lmfao
