Akasa Air is an Indian low-cost airline based in Mumbai, founded by Vinay Dube and Aditya Ghosh with Rakesh Jhunjhunwala holding a 46% stake. It began operations on August 7, 2022 with its first flight from Mumbai to Ahmedabad and currently operates 14 aircraft to 12 destinations, with plans to increase its fleet size to 72 aircraft within 5 years. The airline plans to offer flights from metro cities to tier-2 and tier-3 cities, as well as major cities across India. The airline received its Air Operator Certificate in July 2022 and started flight booking on its website. The logo, with the tagline "It's Your Sky," features a rising A symbol inspired by elements of the sky and the colors Sunrise Orange and Passionate Purple. The crew uniform, introduced in July 2022, received praise for its unique design incorporating modern and Indian elements, and became the first airline to introduce recycled rubber sneakers for the cabin crew.
