    I’ve been thinking about this for a while now. I’m 60 years old and my wife is 58…and we are mortgage free.Kids are grown up and what’s pushing me down this road is our ever declining quality of life, the ever increasing costs of running a house and the the fact that after I was made redundant from a job I really enjoyed back in July ‘23…I’ve gone from one crappy job to another…I’m worn out with it to be totally honest. My wife isn’t too keen but I can’t cope much more with applying for dead end jobs and the 9 to 5 grind. Ideally I would like to move to Devon or Cornwall and spend my time walking my dogs and getting fitter in cleaner air. Just need to convince the wife now…good video by the way 👍

    Did it 10 years ago, never looked back. It’s brilliant. And you’ll be in a community where people think the same and look out for each other. So safe too. And definitely cheaper. Just love it, go for it you won’t regret a single thing.

    I did it three years ago. Love it. Took time to get use to the smaller property, but with having less stuff it worked out just fine. I have no doubt that you will enjoy your Park home.😊

    I looked into doing this, but the cost of them is more than my house is worth, plus the ground rent and council tax. The majority don't allow pets either and I'm not living without one or giving away the ones I have.
    Plus if they ever sell the land you have to move.
    Love the idea but too many risks for me.

      I agree, our little dogs are our life. Sell your house buy a park home and pay 3-4-5K a year ground rent, leasehold with rules and regulations. What a stupid idea.

    One thing you absolutely need to do is make sure the site has a residential licence and not just a 12 month holiday licence.

      @@AndyHamer-b9n very true who ever is buying one do the homework first make sure it’s what you want and check everything even asking residents about the site and how it is not just site owners as we all know they can lie to get a sale

    Been following your journey, I am going through the uncertainty, are they cold in the winter, etc. I could retire in April next year, company have offered to keep me on, but... I don't want to work 50 hours a week, not have time to look after the house or garden (which is 220' long), wife has MS and I worry that if something happened to me, she wouldn't be able to cope, so.... that's why we are looking at Residential Park Homes, at least you have some legal coverage, instead of Holiday homes, over the past 5 weeks we have been visiting Residential sites, one's that looked good on the internet, turned out to be not so good, house went on market last Monday, had 3 viewings already, shit... everything is happening so fast, it's scary....

    • @DazPreston69
      @DazPreston69  Před rokem

      It is scary, we still feel scared now, holiday parks can be good too but you really got to be with the right ones who will protect you and got to be off site one or more months a year, if your wife has MS take a look at your decking if you can get a ramp fitted at later date, it’s about living life, why we can, there are some great sites across the country and some that just want your money, you do what you feel best for you and your wife, if it goes wrong it’s life, we always get through it,enjoy yourselves and as long as your happy that’s all that matters.
      Life is full of risks, we wouldn’t do anything if we didn’t take a risk, each year we go away we take a risk, flying driving walking anything is a risk, thanks for following us means a lot to us, the 22 nd we go to Tenerife so hope you follow us, be doing some live videos

    Great videos documenting your journey and this was something we thought about 5 years ago and now looking into once again. My concerns are still around ground rent and how much this will rise as the last residential home we looked at taking poll tax into account was over £4.5K per year, so small increases in any, may have a bigger impact, obviously, if you live on a 365 non-residential holiday park the poll tax is £0.... Cost of energy given the parks are commercial and not subject to any cap, although solar with batteries would help, lastly the longevity of the homes, given you need this to last most of your remaining of your years and probably won't be able to afford another in your 80's. I'm guessing most of my points will have crossed your minds but would like to get your thoughts and keep the updates coming
