A complicated person, rougher, sometime brash and straight forward on the outside with a heart that set up a foundation in Oklahoma for children with cancer and a man who also spent much of his time honoring and entertaining our troops. I believe God understood Toby Keith's heart and when the time came opened his arms and joyfully welcomed Toby with a guitar waiting in the wings!

Every Toby Keith song reminds me when I was a Marine - the nostalgia of my younger days. My squad and I would get together in the barracks out in the smoke pit, and get hammered. Sadly, those days are long gone.

The good do die young. Growing up in Miami in the 60's & 70's; I got into wearing country boots, shirts & always listened to country music. Homestead Florida was as close to country as I could get and had a few country girls down that way. When Toby released this song in 1993, it
became my true soul song. Woah...I've should of been a cowboy.
Back in 2005-06 I was stationed in Germany and played his CD in the truck all of the time. I got deployed to Afghanistan, I was in Bagram when Toby came to play for the USO. He was supposed to be there at a reasonable time, but he came in during the middle of the night. The place was packed. I loved it. Keep doing what you do Toby.

I was at the concert he did at Ft. Knox. Great musician/band performing for our troops. You could still see his 'sunburn' around his eyes during the concert as he'd just gotten back from entertaining our troops in the middle east. A top notch entertainer and human being for saluting our men and women in uniform!
