    I have a 2014 rhino safe made in USA 🇺🇸 1/4" door plate, 12 gage sides, 2-3/4" drywall fire protection every where. I think of it as a half decent safe. Their rino big horn is there Chinese import woth a composite sheet metal door a d they went down a grade on the side walls to 14 gage. As time go by, these are getting less and less secure. With safes the older, the better I've learned.

    I got a rhino safe with the old worn-out finish look I love it

    I'm sure you know that "nice thick door" doesn't mean shit. What matters is how thick the steel plate is and would have been nice if you had mentioned what these were. "thick hard plate" doesn't tell me much either.

    I'd like to have small Ironworks safes with mechanical dial lock option.

    If you read the reviews on the Kodiak line of safes, they are poor. If Rhino thinks this is a great product to put out under thier name, I'm going to avoid the company completely

      It's a Bighorn series....they are imported. US made are Rhino and Ironworks.

  • @knottreel

    How thick is the metal on the sides of the Ironworks? My guess is that most burglars would go after the weaker areas with a grinder. I love the look of that model.

      I think from what I've read on the website is 12g. But, I've been doing a lot of research and may have it confused with a different one. I do think it is 12g on the sides an top, with the door being a bit better.

    Great video. Do you have a video on the Rhino Basic series?

    Nice lights, nice outlet, cool locking mechanism, good storage.. what about the steel in it? The door to frame gap? construction? How do the rivets actually help with security? How does it compare to a Champion safe?

    • @hoouwit1
      @hoouwit1 Před 4 lety

      Exactly they try to BS you with those seemingly thick doors, but how much actual steel is in it, that's that question.

    $700-$800 for a 1/4 inch piece of steel welded on the front of the door? Little bit of a rip off isn't it?

    • @NoEdits704
      @NoEdits704 Před 3 lety +1

      Definitely not a rip off. That solid plate of steel adds tons of strength. Much more difficult to break into that safe.

    Those Kodiak's are freaking $1400 now in Washington State. A yr ago they was $500.. All because of our stupid new law!

    Guys. The only safes you truly need are AMSEC, BROWN SAFE COMPANY, HOLOMON TL-15 or higher rated. STURDY SAFE COMPANY. All of this is gimmicky shit. Burglers go through the sides, top and if it can be tipped over the bottom. Liberty safe is the same way. If the sides arent a 1/4 inch steel or thicker, I keep going. Oh yeah. One more. GRAFFUNDER SAFES.

    • @derek3154
      @derek3154 Před 3 lety +3

      True, but most people can’t afford a 4K+ safe especially in the size they want. Most just want protection from the smash & grab robbery and the Kodiak (budget friendly) type works for most people.
      If you got 100k of goods then yes, you need a thick steel and concrete 800+lb safe.
      If you can show me the best safe for around 1K I’d happily buy it😉.

  • @tdb19872
    @tdb19872 Před 2 lety +1

    That's not a hard plate. A hardplate is something completely different. You're referring to a plate door vs a composite sheet metal door.

    These ‘safes’ are pure garbage. Do your research. A real safe costs money. Buy Amsec, Fort Knox or Brown safe.

    • @BlkInc1
      @BlkInc1 Před rokem

      Are those affordable?

    • @jasonlommen4769
      @jasonlommen4769 Před rokem +1

      @@BlkInc1
      ‘Affordable’ is a relative term! It just depends on what you’re protecting and how important it is to you. Most ‘safes’ people see/buy are made with cheap sheet metal and sheetrock/gypsum board.. They offer very little protection from fire and cutting tools.
      The ones I mentioned start around $3500 and go up from there. Buy once, cry once. A quality safe will last a lifetime and then some.

    Thank you for the video! Just one suggestion if I may. I think the audio of this video was atrocious. May I suggest a clip on mic.
