This was a major help. And good luck to all the other golfers out there. Hit them solid
I watched this video, went to the driving range and hit my irons pure immediately. This is incredible instruction! I can't wait to play a round.
Hi Estebania
Thank you for your comment. I'm glad the video was able to help out! Keep up the good work. ~Robin
I watch this video before every round at the moment. It's doing wonders for my game. Cheers Clay from the UK
those slow motion shots help more than anything
Thanks!
I was struggling at the range the other day. Watched this video earlier today and went back out there - felt 100x better. The server tray concept totally resonated with me.
The server tray worked for me also
I watched this 5 minutes before I tee'd off. Was about to quit the game sitting 120 130s, I hot my irons 90 percent pure today and shot a 94! Thank you! New subscriber here
Dang Bill! That's awesome man. Glad the video helped. Keep up the good shooting! Quentin | TSG Instructor
This video helped me incredibly! I’ve been golfing for a couple years with no consistency. The biggest problem I had was that I didn’t know what my problem was so I didn’t know how to fix it. I pretty much was swinging my irons with pure hope that it would be a good shot. I went to the range today after watching this video, used my alignment stick the same way you did and focused on a balanced swinging keeping my hands down and pushing my leading hip towards the target during my down swing. Not only was I hitting them straight and at proper height I was hitting the ball and then the ground which felt incredible to look down and see good divots, not duffed divots. Thanks a lot!
Awesome! Thanks for sharing. Keep up the great work!
Best video I’ve seen yet.
Thanks Josh!
Thank you! Great video. I’ve been struggling with my irons and this was great! I use to play a ton. Almost everyday but nene you have kids, golf becomes few and far between! I’m starting to play more as I have time. Thanks again!
My pleasure!
What a swing 👊
Best instructor on you tube. Period
Wow, thanks!
Great video and huge help - was struggling with ball striking for months. The one simple swing thought of getting the butt end of the club in line or outside of the ball on backswing immediately eliminated miss hits and added distance/consistencyt to my shots. More confidence more grins during my round. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Awesome! Keep up the good work.
Hey watched this and not only did I get better contact but better flight. Thanks!
That is great! Glad it helped!
Excellent drill and visual! Thanks
GREAT ADVICE. VERY WELL EXPLAINED. THANK YOU!

Best of luck!
Wish I was 30 years younger and flexible and strong like Clay. Makes it look easy. Well done video.. Now we shall give this a shot and let you know. Thanks
Absolutely gorgeous swing. The biggest thing I’ve learned is not to “hold” lag. Holding lag creates tension in the wrists, and tension is the enemy of lag. At the top of the swing, in the transition, you need to feel like your hands if anything ever so slightly relax and then the lag is allowed to develop naturally as your body rotates through to impact.
Thanks and thanks for sharing!
Video helped my swing a lot, thanks!
No problem! Glad it helped. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor

Good Job done ⛳️⛳️⛳️
Thanks Dana!
I had a tendency to cast a little on the down swing, but could still hit my irons decently. I tried doing this to maximize my irons, and now I have come across a ton of thins mixed in with shanks... any idea why that could be?
These are awesome tips. Thanks dude
Glad you like them!
Good vid👌
Thanks!
beast!
💪
Great video bro
Appreciate it
Hey man I’m a 3 handicap but recently I’ve been pushing my irons to the right and I’m
Struggling to hit green from 90 to 230 yards. Any drills or tips? Loved this video btw
Try to hit a pull. You're probably getting the club a little stuck behind you. This can happen to better players. Feel like your trail shoulder works more out toward the ball instead of down and see if that helps. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor
Super practical drills + thorough explanation of the mechanics occurring = great coaching
Also, love the WWJD bracelet - can those please make a comeback?
Thanks!
good tip for slicers and average golfers.
Thanks Reid!
cLay,where is top speed golf located for lessons? Steve
Incredible video! Sub’d!
Thanks!
Shot a 38 after watching this. Usually shoot mid 40s bc my irons suck
Thanks for sharing!
I definitely hit down and keep lag because I'm hitting the ball and taking a huge divot. My ball flight is so low
Nice!
I always sliced my irons because i hit too shallow i will try this technique at the driving range and go play some rounds
Sounds good Gabe!
my bad eyes it was, 8:17- love your guys stuff- FYI From Hong Kong , Mex. Calif- I've referred tons of guys to your websight sorry if I was a little trollish, but I call it like I see it
Hi Michael, no worries. Thanks for watching. Glad you like the website and thank you very much for spreading the word. Hope you're playing well :-) Best of luck ~ Quentin | TSG Instructor
7:49 I wish I could’ve seen that swing in person

Do you guys have a video on toe shots? I come from the inside, stay in my posture, standing the right distance away from the ball, and I still toe it. Thanks
Hi Sam, I completely know what you mean. It sounds like your feel is not real so you have to adjust your feel to get the desired result that you want. We don't have any specific videos on how to correct toe strikes but I would recommend addressing the ball as you normally would and trying to hit the ball off the heel. I know it sounds crazy but you'll likely end up hitting it closer to the center. Once you start actually hitting the ball off the heel then you can adjust your feel back to the center. I hope that makes sense. Best of luck ~ Quentin | TSG Instructor
Just take a half step back after setup
This is a very good video but, I’ve never seen a video that addresses the issue I have when on the down swing. You talk about lag and as I watch your swing you seem to have squatted down somewhat holding the lag of the club until it is parallel to the ground. The problem I have when hitting my irons is duffing the club face into the ground before I make contact with the ball or not getting my club down low enough to strike the ball which causes me to hit the ball thin or top the ball. I’m sure you are going to tell me that I am dropping my right shoulder too much which does make me hit the ball fat or the club face jolts my whole body by hitting the turf and digging a divot before I hit the ball. Psychology this has effected me mentally when I go to strike the ball because it hurts my back, arms and hands. By the end of the round, my back hurts and I’m scared to hit the ball properly thinking the end result will not be a clean shot but, instead another duffed attempt at striking the ball. How do you know when you’ve squatted too much? I have trouble judging the distance from my grip of the club to the proper extension and striking the ball clean. Over the years I’ve heard different terminology describing what I’m doing wrong and it has literally effected my mindset when it comes to using my irons. I’ve been told things like pinching the ball at contact between the turf and behind the ball to get the ball in the air. I’ve seen videos that say you swing the irons differently than you do your woods. Well,....let me say this, I have very little problem hitting my driver 275 yards! When it comes to my irons I don’t have a clue as to properly striking the ball. What an I doing wrong? Am I supposed to sweep the ball off the turf with my body or am I using my hands and arms to strike the ball? Sorry for writing so much but, it’s the best way I can describe my feelings when standing over my ball in the fairway. I’m petrified!
Hi Jerry, it's hard to say exactly what you're doing but it sounds like you're releasing the club too early. Most often this is the case because the hips stall and then the arms have no choice but to race out in front of the body. This may not necessarily but what you're doing but this is usually what I see. We do offer swing reviews as an additional service to our All Access Members (right now, they start at $75/month). Spots aren't always available, though. So, after you become an All Access Member, you'll want to go to our unlimited swing reviews page and grab a spot (if one's available) or get on the waiting list. Let me know if you've got any other questions. And if you're ready to purchase the membership, just use the quick link below because you can sign up in about 1 minute: topspeedgolf.com/pick-all-access-plan/. Play well! ~ Quentin | TSG Instructor
I just saw the vidéo and I have to say that gave goods tips but your swing is a little bit outside too, you compensate very well because you have a body athlete that allows you to engage with your muscles engough power to square the club.
If you look at your swing, in the downswing you are pulling the club down (or you'r gripping your right arm to tight) by actually doing an internal rotation of your right shoulder, and that stippen the shaft, but you did well to avoid the club to go out but it's that something regular people will not beeing able to do on regular daily basis and consistently or for a long period of time without beeing injured. The physical constraint you add in your body to help the club to square by rotating the upper body like you do is realy hard.
Is it just me or at 8:18 for the slow of swing, the club didn’t get shallowed out at all?
Hey David, thanks for the comment. Yeah, he might be a little steep but this camera angle isn't helping. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor
Have an awesome day today everyone! John 3: 16 😁😎👍
Thanks!
one of the fundamentals of topspeedgolf is axis tilt away on top of the swing. At 8:30 you definitely don`t have this axis tilt on top?
Hi Friedrich, I know it looks that way but I think it's just the camera angle. If we were perfectly face on than you would see that Robin has a very stable spine to the top of the swing. Play well ~ Quentin | TSG Instructor
I feel like Fred Couples Now
Every video I watch, everyone's always telling you what everyone does wrong. I get that, I just want to know the right way. I spend endless minutes watching someone demonstrate what everyone does wrong. I would like to view a how-to video of the correct way and only the correct way.
Thanks for the feedback!
186 people hate the word lag apparently
Seriously, I know you want to mean well, but let's get real, nobody hits perfect shots every time. You can demonstrate how to hit better shots, more often, and that's all!
You could have given that instruction in a third of the time if you didn’t repeat yourself three times over. And the release of the lag, that message was completely lost. I don’t believe you have the watches the concept of HOW to release the lag.
Thanks for the feedback. Hope you're playing great!
I’d say if you have a handicap higher than 8 this video is not for you
Thanks for sharing!
why show what people do wrong?
Hey Lena
Great question. It could hit home for some people who can relate to the "wrong" way. Sometimes we don't know that we're even doing it wrong. I do it all the time! Best of luck on your game. ~Robin
Nice body
😊
How is this supposed to help anyone?
None of them! That’s my point! So, you stated hit your irons pure every time! So, your teaching something you can’t even do or anybody else! That’s makes sense! Is that not deceiving people or am I high on clue? 😂😂😂
Hi David, you're exactly right. The title of this video could be viewed as misleading if you took it literally. It's not our intention to deceive or upset anyone. We're just trying to create good golf instruction content. I believe an overwhelming majority of people understand that it's not possible to hit a perfect shot every single time. It's an expression kind like "keep your chin up." It doesn't literally mean to keep your chin up. It's meant as encouragement for someone who might be having difficulty coping with something. I hope that makes sense. Play well ~ Quentin | TSG Instructor
People like you are so annoying with smart ass answers. You’re one of those people that would sue McDonald’s for burning yourself with their coffee. I on the other hand appreciate the helpful tips
It's not really deceiving if you consider that if you follow these mechanics properly everytime you will, in fact, hit your irons pure every time.
Too repetitive.
