Oh my gosh, thank you so much for this! I had a feeding tube placed on December 12th. I have a brain lesion in the pons of my brain and can't afford to go to a speech therapist right now. This is fantastic, I can work on my dysphagia myself! 💜🙏

@Mrs B I think I had a similar issue. I had a retrosigmoid surgery done to remove a brain tumor (acoustic neuroma) that was pressing against my brain stem. I lost my hearing and balance nerve on my right side making me continuously dizzy and completely deaf on the right. Along with that, when I woke from surgery I couldn’t eat solid food and choked on everything. It’s been a little over a year now but still having problems with my throat where it’s dry and I have problems speaking for long periods of time. Trying these exercises to see if it helps. My ENT thinks I had damage done to my vagus nerve during the operation. My neurosurgeon denies this and thinks it was just from the intubation.
I cannot comment on your case specifically and recommend you speak with your speech therapist. Generally swallowing and tongue exercises are both helpful for strength and range of motion for head/neck cancer.
Thank you for your amazing explanation.. my mom is currently having dysphagia due to vocal cord palsy post Intubation..your video really help me to practice the exercise with my mom..😊
Me ☹️. Choked on some food a couple of weeks ago. And ever since I noticed little by little it was harder to get food and drinks down. And in the last 3 days its so hard to even get pureed baby food and yogurt and super easy stuff like that to get down. Even drinking is a challenge. It so scary and upsetting. Worried I'll be like this forever ☹️. Waiting to get a call from the doctor to do the barium test to see what's going on
@@CelesLovee10 I'm so sorry your going through this too 😭. It's been over a week of struggling to get anything down even liquids. Can you show how to do side lying technique for dysphagia, neck extension techniques, laryngeal elevation, resistive laryngeal isometric exercise, super supraglottic swallow
Working on a second swallow exercise video now to focus on laryngeal elevation and base of tongue. I’m having issues forcing myself to swallow excess saliva or a forceful swallow at all. So in the Pharyngeal phase. It’s terrifying so do you have any tips
Hi! Sorry for the late response. I would definitely seek a medical professional if you are having difficulty swallowing your saliva. I'm working on a swallow compensatory strategies video that you may want to check out but I can't provide any recommendation specific to your case.
These exercises are not intended for TMJ specifically. Jaw open against resistance has been used for jaw opening. I would seek exercises specific for TMJ.
Great question! So the infrahyoid muscles depress the hyoid and I'm not sure what exercise would isolate this movement. But the submandibular push exercise, chin tuck against resistance (swallow exercises 1) and Shaker exercise (see swallow exercises 2) would address both supra and infrahyoids.
