Smart video. B450 is stil available in some stores and am4 is a very cheap yet capable platform. It is certainly a viable option for a budget build. 😊

Great how to Mike and Lady Kath. Tech has come a long way that you do not need a CPU, Ram, and a GPU installed to flash the BIOS. I've only updated the BIOS on my B75 MSI motherboard from 2013 which only had one update. I updated it through Windows. I'm still using it as my daily driver in 2023. Take care. Cheers

This was super helpful. I was chasing no POST because I thought the amber light wasawarning and I was using onboard video with my Ryzen 5 3600. RTFM says you need a GPU if you are using newer gen CPUs. But now I got the latest BIOS too!
Thanks Mike, your video helped a great deal. Prior to watching your video, I made the mistake to assemble the entire pc, it had no display when it powered up. I attempted to flash the Bios with all components fitted trying to avoid disassembly. It did not work, still had no display. I had to disasemble the entire pc again and remove ALL the components and reflash. Fortunately it works now. Lesson learnt. 😊

Damn man I'm pretty sure you just saved my first PC build! I feel like there were so many minor hidden details I would've missed had I not first watched this video, and knowing my technical incompetence and impatience I feel like I would've otherwise potentially bricked my mobo! Thanks for all the great tips. You definitely earned a like and sub from me.
Btw, I'm sure I'll hopefully figure this out before anyone responds to this but the green BIOS light on my board only blinked a few times then turned solid green. Do you know what I may have done wrong and how I might fix or troubleshoot the issue without messing anything up? Thanks again! Look forward to more helpful vids like this one!
if the bios light flashes 3 times then solid it means the usb drive can't be read or the file is not in the format it can read
@@mikesunboxing so I figured it out... The BIOS was already updated to the latest version before the motherboard was shipped out. That's why I couldn't update it. LOL. SMH at myself 😅😅😅

You have saved my bacon. Tried so many futile acts of troubleshooting...disconnected everything(AS I HAD INSTALLED EVERYTHING) and Mr. Bios LED showed himself. Thank you for your channel.................10 mins ltr........Spoke to soon/only progress is the mouse and keyboard lights have come on. Steady mboard lights now fade on to off and back. STILL NO POST🤔

Hello, I dont know if youll answer but im creating a build with a ryzen 5 5600g with this mobo if I do update the bios to the latest version would I not need to download the bios update needed for the cpu
just get the newest bios and you will be good to go
I found out that, If your B450M-KII's BIOs sticker: ends with 3802 or above your Motherboard should be upgraded to run Ryzen 5 series 4000/5000 out of box, but on the safe side I suggest if it don't launch or you just want to guarantee your Motherboard does has the required BIOs though, Make sure you a USB with it on hand ready to go.
Edited: Looking up on pc part picker, the website says that the B450M-KII BIOs: 3211 is compatible with the Ryzen 4000/5000s as well, but I'm not as sure on that one though.

I'm having trouble, i have bricked 2 USB drives now. After i convert to mbr, the USB drive becomes unrecognizable to the system.
I solved my own flash drive problem, i had forgot to create a new volune in disk manager.
Some Gigabyte Aorus has no flash button on the IO panel but on the board itself. Is the process similar: hold 3 secs until it blinks?

Hi there I have bought this mobo but the The Asus Prime B450M-A II version rather than KII, getting an american megatrends message. I put it into an alienware R3 Desktop PC. Really happy to see all the fancy lighs come back on but no good as can't even enter bios or do anything, even though on the american megatrends screen it recongizes the 4 drives including SSD and even recognises the keyboard and mouse but doesn't respond to any input from keyboard when I press any of the bios buttons (delete etc). I have installed a ryzen 5 I noticed on the box for the mobo it mentions only 1st, 2nd and 3rd gen on the box. Maybe that's the reason. But about to try flashing new bios to see if that works.
I treid putting a new GPU onto my alienware as it was. But it wouln't recognise it. I tried following your video on unstilalling graphics drivers and renstalling...still wouldn't recognise it. I thought it was just that Alienware PC was just no good with upgrades...but then tested the GPU on another 2 mobos...didn't work on them either. Finally I taken the GPU to CEX store I did not think they would get it to work either, as I thought, they said it was knackered. I decided to buy a new MOBO but had to find a small one..so bought the one mentioned and the rizyen 5 CPU...was so pleased to see all the lights come on and the light go whiite on the monitor as that meant it was receiving a signal from the HDMI...but getting the american megatrends and can not get past it. The thing that is really irritating is it says 1 keyboard 1 mouse and yet it will not respond to any input...odd IMO but will try updating the bios...

@@mikesunboxing Thanks yes I am already a member on there, only made a few comments. Need to download the app and sign in again as screen went on my phone, got a new phone now. Not having much luck am I :)....but a bit of good luck I am so pleased I got it working, I had to temporarliy attach a wired keyboard. had to buy one. just a cheap one and voila I pressed F1 for set up and when screen gone blank I knew it was working. I am so pleased as all the lights work and even the alienware command center works with ability to customize. Over the moon and really amazed it all works. One minute couldn't get it to work at all without the wired keyboard. next it is all working a treat. This is why I like PC building feel quite pleased with myself. Kept the orignal PSU though as the size I think is custom for the case, only thing I didn't upgrade.
I am now using the wireless keyboard was able to get it to work after downloading the drivers.
BTW I wanted to share my builds on discord, I am new to discord and couldn't find anyway to share images or videos on there. Maybe I got to be a member for so long.
The part that is blowing 🤯 my mind is the BIOSRenamer. Can I just rename it by renaming it, or do you have to use the BIOSRenamer?

Does the usb size matter? I herd gotta be a smaller use drive that 32gb+ asus doesn’t recognize it
Over 32gb will need a smaller partition made on it we did a video on it, otherwise anything from 64mb to 32gb

the prebuild pcs sometimes have a custom bios for the board, check in with their tech support that might be the reason
On Asus support, they say to rename the BIOS file (PB450MA2.CAP) with BIOSrenamer.
I don't why this is required, what should i rename it?
Also, i can upgrade to a newer BIOS update than the minimum required version, right?

I got the mobo to flash lights for 4 mins. Powered on the board and nothing. 😢 Another CZcamsr says update bios to earlier version, stepping up each update one by one. Is this right?

@@DevilAnge0812 check the serial number on the motherboard, ASUS sometimes add the bios revision installed as a four digit code on the end

if a board has a bios flashback button it should be able to recover from a bad flash

Did you solved that problem. I have the same CPU with the same Mainboard, and I also have that black screen....
advising first timers to use diskpart is not ideal. they can mess with their secondary drives.
