I'm agree with all who says this is one of the best national pageantry productions I have seen. Also, Luo Zilin was the best choice and she showed it at Miss Universe, placing as the 4rth Runner Up.
@TheLadygagasm Actually after viewing Luo Zilin's swimsuit/evening gown presentations, I'm convinced China chose the right girl. She may not be the most beautiful (though her beauty cannot be denied), but she possesses an extra something special that few have. From her elegance and grace yet fierceness on stage, to her confidence yet demure presence, she definitely has what it takes to make it to top 5 if not actually winning the crown!
The second runner up clearly won the pageant to me...however...this young lady they crowned will be in top five and a condender for the win.....she will be up there with USA, VEN, and MEX
I see the quality of the production of the pageant have really gone up. Good idea to use an international judging panel. Since Miss Universe is picked by an international panel, no reason that a Miss Universe preliminary should not do the same.
I'm shocked that people weren't talking about Miss China prior to the pageant. They were only talking about Miss Phillipines & Miss Malaysia as the favorites from Asia. This is the 1st time that I've seen Miss China. Although she didn't win. She could have easily won Miss Universe. She looks like a Miss Universe. She's statuesque and beautiful.
You see the older Chinese lady speaking in the video? She's the one responsible for raising the standards of the Miss China pageant. She speaks English in another video. She has done a very good job in recruiting the most beautiful Chinese women, and notice how many of the judges are Westerners. That's why Miss China was so successful this year. On the other hand, the Miss Japan Pageant has gone backwards since Ines Ligron left.
@awsomeolives she is very pretty no doubt, but china needs a girl representing the whole country. there are some western good looking chinese girls, but they can't represent most chinese people. That's why I don't like most of southern asian countries that they select girls possessing western apearence, that's not right.
@afinitimyob Oh no, I absolutely agree with you. China is top-notch this year! I just meant she might not be the prettiest of the bunch of Miss Universe 2011 but still, she stood out. I hope China continues to chose girls of this caliber and maybe eventually they'll win a crown.

Why wasn't anyone talking about Miss China on YT prior to the pageant? Everyone was talking about Malaysia & Phillipines being the top contestants from Asia and how Westerners need to take over control of the Miss Japan pageant, because the Japanese judges were picking the ugliest Japanese girls. (lol) I had no idea that Miss China was this attractive. I didn't even know how she looked until now. If they can get more Chinese women that look like that, China will be competitve.
BTW, I'm half Japanese and White. I'm disgusted & very disappointed by the way the Japanese have run the Miss Japan Pageant the last 2 years since Ines Ligron left. On the other hand, I'm very impressed with how Miss China has raised it standards, and how they're running their pageant now. This is the way to run a pageant and become competitive at Miss Universe. You must actively recruit the most beautiful women in your country and use Westerners as judges or an international judging panel.
I wonder why they invited Allan Wu to be the host. He does not speak English well at all, and even read the name of the 2nd runner-up wrongly!!! Thanksfully they invited Angela Chow.
Luo Zhilin is pretty but I also thought Yi Na is gorgeous as well. Anyone understood why she wasn't placed higher? Did she do horribly in her interview?
