I can completely relate to the holdouts. I worked for a local camera store starting in 2000 and was dead set that I would stick with film not go to digital. At the time the DSLRS were mainly 3 or 6 MP. Then I had the chance to buy a used 10D for $150 and didn't look back. Then, as mirrorless cameras began to emerge, I was very staunch in my position that I would not go mirrorless, the viewfinders just weren't up to it. Finally, two years ago as I looked to upgrade from a 40D, I was looking at used DSLR and my wife urged me to get something new, then she urged me to get mirrorless, since that was the latest technology, and I ended up with an R5. In the end they are all tools and you have to use what works for you.

I'm a hold out but I'm 73. I started when there was only film (or slides). Itbseems like today it's all about what you can make after the fact, post production if you will. I've never been a fan and hate photo manipulation. I still use my SLT cameras, Sony ILCA99M2 and ILCA77M2. I also have my old TLR and Maxxum 9. I am currently investigating moving to the Sony ILCE7RM5 and lens adapter LA-EA5 so I can use my A-mount lenses.
