I have several of these vans. We have been broke into. Remedy. Use tie down straps with anchor bolts and a chain that they cannot cut use on top and bottom of both doors with also a metal slide bolt with a lock they can't reach and mount giant rat traps inside when they feel for the unlock button they will find out the hard way
This helped me get into my van. Thank you for your comment. The only tricking part was unscrewing the rusty corroded screws on my 2011's brake light, without stripping them.
I just have a spare key magnet holder on top of my frame rail in a fairly hard to reach spot. While installing power lock actuations and a back up camera in my E250 I realized the easy theft entry possibility from the plastic license plate inset so I installed my own steel shield to keep thieves at bay. Love the cutie in the video.
I just ended up using a coat hanger. I had to get aggressive with the angle of the end, because I couldn't get it the first 15-30 minutes, then just took me 5 minutes after taking the rubber strip out. Looks like I didn't damage anything. I was worried with the remote locks I installed.
Wow thanks for that idea. I almost called a locksmith and I almost drilled a hole in the back of my van. This was free and no damage. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much! Spent an hour cutting a hole behind the license plate, and couldn’t even get my hand up there….THEN, I read your comment. Took me less than a minute to open the side door.
The 08-14s have a known flaw that water gets into the rear power lock, causing a short which locks all the doors on its own. I’ve had to us this very trick a few times
My 2010 Ford Flex had the opposite issue, the easy access keypad had a slight cut in it, and when water got in it caused a short which would randomly unlock the doors lol
Tonight I locked myself out of my converted van in the rain after getting too sideways. Thanks for the help! Cut my hand up pretty bad but feel sleeeplzns

I have a video showing how to remove your lock cylinder and inside of my van if you want to know how to replace that piece. I'll have to head over there to see what mine looks like, now that I remember that.
LOL then it's easy for the next person to open your van up LOL. Not to mention now your van will rust faster with a hole open for the water to get in, awesome-O. Way easier to just use a home made slim jim and pop it.
@@flame5891 Neah there are far worse things than rust living in cali, I'm sorry for you. Depends on who is watching some of us do have to deal with that.
On at least 98 and older no metal plate. Not sure when they changed it . I added a plate on my 98 and 97 E350s. Bad part, all the door locks can be easily popped out with a flat bladed screwdriver. There is a company that makes a reinforcement to help stop this , can not remember the name.
:54 Does that look like an oem cutting under the plate? lol :) Pry open the top of the driver side door, over the doorlock, and then reach in with a stick and poke the electric lock :)
Well yall...my dad's van was stolen from the front of my house last night. Something to think about in regards to posting videos on how to break into them.
Unfortunately, creeps can still get into your car even with the steel plate. they simply jimmy the whole case open and break the lock from there. Such fun.
Those poor starving design engineers at Ford should get a bonus for such a fine tamper/theft proof design, and the head of the company also for having such brilliant talent on the payroll.

did you know what you just broke is gonna cost you $150 dollars at the dealership..you should have gone inside the van an remove the door panel.. next time ask me.
Thank you for this, some mild comedic relief while being stressed as we tried to get into our own van!
Lol people it isn’t just plastic there’s a metal plate behind you need to cut through, this video just helped out a lot thank you
Only plastic on mine

I gained access through the third brake light on top more than once that I locked my keys inside.

You can also unscrew the outside button on the swing out side window and reach in to pull the lock button.

Sometimes I think people who train criminals how to steal your van is irresponsible
Does anyone know how many keys this has? My husband recently died and The key I have only opens the door. Is there a different key for the ignition?

Yup, my dad's van was stolen last night.

There's no access hole back there we got to cut a hole

the screws are on the inside.
