    They’re different tools for different jobs in my experience.
    The Blues Driver is more of a full-range drive. Does everything from clean boost, to crunch, to distortion. Works great with a clean or dirty amp.
    The TS is an overdrive. Lots of midrange, highs and lows are rolled off. Better for boosting a dirty amp, or another dirt pedal (like a BD-2).
    There are no rules, but they definitely have different strengths/weaknesses. ;)

      @GuitarlordJohnBurton  Před rokem +6

      Exactly. If I have it my way, I'm straight into an amp on 11 and that's it. But unfortunately, that's not always possible. I bet no one tells you you're too loud in heaven. Can't wait.

    I like the Blues Driver on humbuckers and the Tube Screamer on single coils. For P90s, I like the Boss OD-3 (or a Tube Screamer for a lighter overdrive.)

      @@kaptkrunchfpv There are few things on earth more worth 100 dollars that a TS AND BD together. Maybe 100 dollars worth of burgers if you’re starving to death. That’s all I can think of.

    One can immediately hear the mid range boost in the Ibanez. The blues driver has a more transparent mid. The Waza craft version of the Blues Driver has a custom mid boost making it more versatile than the stock version. The mid boost on the Waza ain't as pronounced as the Ibanez, but it does thicken the whole tone quite a bit.

    I use a 15 / 20 watt tube amp and mic it up through the mains. Both Les Pauls and Strats sound very Bluesy with plenty of crunch. I'm an old school Blues player, so this is how I grew up. Los Angeles

  • @1man1guitarletsgo

    Either one can be set to produce great overdrive sounds, but they can also be set to sound uninspiring. It's all about context. The examples in this video certainly illustrated some of their tonal differences. I use a BD-2 as the last pedal before a clean, loud amp, set to unity output with the gain at about 1 o'clock, and riding the guitar's volume control to adjust the amount of overdrive.

    • @GuitarlordJohnBurton
      @GuitarlordJohnBurton  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Yeah for sure. Dialed in, most players can probably get something at least close to what they want in just about any guitar/amp config. Probably why they sell so well just generally across the board.

    Thanks for posting this comparison. I think they both sound good, but the blues driver has more clarity, punch and crispiness to its sound. It pushes through and stands out above the background better. The tube screamer sounds kinda muddy to me. I'll be going for a Blues driver myself, for sure.

  • @Rammetallist
    @Rammetallist Před 3 měsíci +2

    Если верить картинке и звуку, у Вас разные настройки Gain на педалях: на TS9 - 9 часов, на BD - 12 часов.
    Отсюда и такая принципиальная разница, TS работает как грелка, а BD получается педалью Overdrive.

    • @GuitarlordJohnBurton
      @GuitarlordJohnBurton  Před 2 měsíci

      Yeah I agree. My thinking on this one is, dialing them in and comparing is kind of useless since the positions they sound best changes from guitar to guitar and amp to amp. My main hope in this vid is really just to give a general idea of what they sound like in comparison at the specific spots. Thats really the only constant I can achieve is position of gains and tone knobs. Its highly flawed for some purposes of comparison but has some merit for a few purposes. Thanks!

    Why would you make a video comparing these two? They are COMPLETELY different pedals for completely different uses. Blues Driver is a standalone fender amp in a box pedal. You can even use it as a fuzz with the gain all the way up. A Tube Screamer is a boost OD pedal made for going into either a cranked amp or another gain pedal.

    • @GuitarlordJohnBurton
      @GuitarlordJohnBurton  Před 8 měsíci +11

      I get what you're saying, they're very different products. Apples and Oranges if you will, to people in the know or people with a trained ear. But most people aren't in the know and don't have your experience with them. But they are both overdrive pedals, and specifically they are two of the best selling OD pedals of all time and consistently top ten sellers currently. So the video is for people to hear the audible form of what you basically just put in written word.

      OK, we get it, you’re a badass pedal nerd. You might know the difference, but for 99% of normies these are just two dirt pedals that sound pretty much the same.
      This is like comparing KFC to Popeyes and some fried chicken nerd goes “nooooo kfc is kentucky and popeyes is louisiana, they’re tOoOtaLLy DiFfeRenT.”

      Because for people who are new to guitar pedals or maybe even playing the guitar in general, they don’t know what kind of overdrive they want. It’s nice to be able to hear a demonstration of the two so that when you go to the guitar store you can make an informed decision.
