- The day of slopestyle finals at Crankworx Innsbruck was no joke! The conditions were all against us with wet weather, strong winds and rain. We stuck through and made the best out of the situation and managed to pull of the event! Stress was full on all day but in the end, that's what competing is all about. I'm happy about my performance and to know that there is more room in the tank! Enjoy!

My name is Max Fredriksson! I’m a 24 years old professional MTB athlete from Stockholm - Sweden! After becoming the vice world champion in 2016 I’ve dealt with a ton of injuries from contests. I currently compete at the highest level of Slopestyle MTB riding in the ’’Slopestyle world championships’’ at Crankworx events all around the world. When I’m not at contests I love and enjoy creating short films on youtube for you guys and bring you along to show what I do other than the daily intense training and constant traveling or competing.

I truly believe since you were the first run it was under scored. Your first run had some good tricks, variations and it was SUPER CLEAN! Yet the judges were cold and didn't rank it properly.
Your weekend consisted of 3 major parts :
1. riding bikes
2. waiting for wind and rain to get better
3. beeping f**** words 😂

You looked pretty nervous when you stood there on the top waiting for better conditions before the second run. Can you talk about the stress and pressure of the situation? Was it different than in other competitions when you havent been injured for a while?

I know the feeling of being fucked over because of weather, especially when you put down a safety run that good and knowing youre capable of much more but not being able to show it, youre a fantastic rider and top 10 in the world isnt terrible, especially with no injuries, keep killin it much respect from the states!

They definitely under-scored your run to leave space above you. You shoulda been higher.
Well the judges do that, and focus more on the positions they put people in, so it might have been worth ca 83-84 but still they slot the position where they think it's suitable!

Smashed it Max. Shame you didn't get a chance to open up a bit more on your second run. it felt like you had the course figured out better than almost all the other riders, so a second run with some confidence under your belt would have been sick. Looking forward to seeing you compete next. :)

1st run was clean and had alot of combos in there, could be really higher than 79 honestly
I just noticed that you switched to saint cranks. Did the XTRs bend or was it just a precaution so they would survive the slopestyle abuse?
Was so stoked to watch that first run. Clearly one of the best in those conditions. You have to look at it from the bright side. Also stooked for the representation sweden has 10 spots and we got awesome 3 riders :-)
