  • This is how I teach about Triads! Very effective and helpful for any guitarist. If you are one of my Guitar Wisdom subscribers, you already know these, but you can review them here again with very detailed points.
    - 3 ways to learn Triads in Vertical & Horizontal & Same Inversions on each set of strings (654/432/432/321)
    - Make sure you understand about dynamics in 3 points (Amp Volume & Guitar Volume & Pick Volume)
    - PLUS learning a proper thumb position. Triads are a great way to learn how to have a good thumb position & clean palm muting too.
Please enjoy this lesson! When you practice, keep your smile!

Very informative and useful. I’ve learned a new perspective of chord changing by knowing the intervals of the triad I’m on. If I’m changing to the 5th I know the root note is the so note of the triad I’m on. Or up 2 frets for the minor 6th or down 2 frets for the 4th, etc. A good way of mapping the fretboard by intervals. Thanks Tomo!

What an amazing lesson! On the nose… 3+ years focused on CAGED, and Major scale shapes and patterns and finding triads and the linear major scale patterns now dominate my improvising.
Final note on another lesson that had DRAMATIC impact was the daily linear all finger exercise and 1/4/5 swing, each focused on accuracy and quiet transfers from notes.
    So grateful for your lessons!

Great lesson, will definetly look into the guitar wisdom soon.
I focused a lot on metal - which is quite pattern/scale driven. The triads really help to get the fingers in the right places once you move on the fretboard.
Would highly appreciate a lesson about pick-volume. Playing something crisp and articulate some notes with pushing them into saturation really got me into electric guitar.

    Keep up the great work!
(In case you're interested, I just looked it up on youtube: In the Video "How to play Triads on Piano" on the channel "pianoTV" the girl shows in the first minutes of the Video the exact same C-Maj-Triad on a keyboard, that Tomo shows on guitar right here :D )

Love the way you describe the endless possibilities of guitar playing and how you will forever be a student of the guitar and I like how you are so humble and down to earth about it. There's alot of self proclaimed "professionals" out there who think they've achieved the pinnacle of playing and carry that professional title as a badge of their own ego when in all reality they aren't even anything special. You Tomo are the professional we all should model ourselves after and your playing speaks for itself. Just making a point. Great lessons. He plays excellent, is a well accomplished musician too. He always says thumb over the top is just incorrect or wrong way, respectful so. However, Hendrix style of playing bass with his thumb is an actual thing. Not saying either is right or wrong, just telling me that sometimes we find greatness going where we are often told not to.

    • @TomoFujitaMusic
      @TomoFujitaMusic  Před 3 měsíci +1

I did not say wrong way... if you do this way all the times, just in case, other way to do... I may exacerbate it. Hendrix plays his style so well. That's all good! I just want all my students know about "Choices" That's all! This way you know how to do well both ways and you can pick however you enjoy. That was what I taught to John Mayer. Foundation.

Learn music, integrity, honesty dedication and passion. Triads are on to themselves as anything else in the infinite realm of music mean very little

  •  Před 9 měsíci +1

A typical root position triad has the root as the lowest note, the third as the middle note, and the fifth as the highest note. So, in the case of the C major triad, the root position would be C-E-G. The triad C G E does not follow this pattern, so some people would not consider it a root position or an inversion. Instead, some might say that it's just a "spaced" chord, or a chord that's not in a specific position.

I was just joking a little bit, about how deep our connection to the instrument is can be advanced idea, I remember when I first started guitar at 12 it took me many years to realize how much tension I had in my hands and shoulders. But I appreciate how you discuss these concepts in a very easy to understand way here.

Hey Tomo! Regarding the last section where you were soloing and said has nothing to do with the lesson (from 12:15 onward), were you thinking of the modes relating to the chords you played and soloed within those chords?
How do I work on and improve the skill if improvising the way you did at the end? Do you have a video about that?

Would it be idea to change a camera angle so, that it is possible for beginners identify a finger position on neck. In current camera angle hand hide a finger position on neck. Maybe later when notes are learned, it is easier to identify them by ear, but for beginners need to see the finger positions on frets. Thank You.
