Ya, like, I get what they were kinda going for, which was to promote neurodiversity tolerance/acceptance, but like... idk... I don't live there so I don't necessarily have a horse in this race so I can't speak for the city of Bradford. Tbh I don't even know where it is. From the sounds of it it sounds like it's in the UK somewhere.
      Here's how I would've done it assuming I'm the UK gov't
I would've zoned off a section of the city as the neurodiversity district and promoted jobs to companies and offered special incentives to hire more and more neurodiverse individuals, be it in construction, fast food, tech, whatever the field. Also, I'd have every apartment required to technically be built as a 2 bedroom but marketed as a 1 bedroom for autistic individuals so they can have a safe room that isn't just their bedroom, for people in wheelchairs, disability access showers, more durable walls and doors in case of meltdowns, etc etc.
Really I can only speak for myself and my experience as a person with autism but I'm sure there's lots of ways this could've been done better beyond, "let's have a day to do this," but maybe what I just described above is the end goal, I don't know. Again I'm in the US so I don't have any stakes here, but I understand why they, being the gov't would want to do something like this. They wanna promote neurodiversity tolerance and acceptance. If this is the only step, that's wrong to me. If this is a single step in a marathon hike, then, I'd like to see the destination.
