The P3 live-action stage plays (called The Weird Masquerade, which has changes from the original because pacing) practically show this at the start of the first one. For Makoto and Junpei, you can already see what they do in gameplay. She seems to consider herself as a healer/supporter and others as more battle-based members that protect her while she heals them.

@@thomaswood8405 iirc even in the original she had 0 combat experience, akihiko got injured on the first full moon shadow, so right as makoto joins. additionally she and mitsuru couldnt hold off the previous full moon shadows not too long before this scene, but tbh it took fuuka's awakening to defeat those two full moon shadows.
She is literally positioned as a rookie counterpart to your character from the start, hence her hesitation over using the evoker and fear of dealing even with a basic bish shadow. It should be clear she's a novice from like literally the first 15 minutes. They were likely training her just like you, but imo the big key factor is that she simply isn't cut out for it the way everyone else is. Junpei jumps right into everything and accepts it and the danger all at once, while you practically walk in on your first day, show up everyone, and then become team leader. Compared to literally every other persona user, even the literal child and dog, she is narratively the least competent, or at the very least percieves herself that way, which is a huge part of her character arc. WHile everyone else kind of just accepts the situation and adapts very quickly, she continues to struggle with all of it--and ironically may be the most normal member of the team.@@thomaswood8405

Indeed, it’s a scripted fight to showcase theurgy, happens often in persona, in 5 the pixie you fight to do the first negotiation can tank a fully powered megidolaon since she can’t die due to the narrative.

Yeah, sega left all the tutorials in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, so NG+ on P3R was always going to be a slog. Hence why I have been very careful to not miss any quests / social links on my current run.
@Kiwipizza definitely is I intentionally used a maxed stats Messiah and the best gear I had the hp is irrelevant when the combo of your persona and gear has enemies doing single digit damage. Assuming you didn't already reaper farm you can base your persona limit on your parties level or just check the players average level through the network feature when outside of tartarus
That's why I'm not selling any of my gear. - w- I'm hoping if I put it on Hard, and try to stick to Teammate AI and normal gear, maybe that'll help keep NG+ fresh.
Personally I am completely fine with my NG+ being unbalanced, but I am glad you're not one of those people complaining about your level carrying although the only stats it effected here were hp and sp.

On my first playthrough counter procced on that first hit and almost killed it so she ended up bringing it to one hp after the first hit of the critical combo.

The attack that knocks you down is specifically coded to either pierce through or ignore any and all physical resistances. On a NG+ run, I had Messiah equipped during that scene, who learns Null Phys, and it still hit a Crit and knocked me down. The attack that knocks you down is legitimately the only physical attack in the game that ignores resistances, outside of outright Theurgies.
@@konothomasda7430 Yeah, the big indicator was that the very next attack, the one meant to make you Dizzy, **did** get nulled. Which means the game still very much recognized my physical resistances. It just ignores them for the attack meant to crit knock you down because it's a scripted event. It's supposed to happen no matter what.
I got soft locked because I didn't got crited, because of it I didn't got knocked down and had my turn as normal, not being able to select anything on the fight I had to reload to my last save.
Probably just dia on you then, but she'd have to be lower than level 11 and you have to take her on the monorail so whilst idk if she'd get there from you killing the priestess you'd have to get her to die in that battle in order for her to remain low level assuming she would

Maaaan protag level really shouldn't be carried over like this, takes away almost all the stakes of a battle, even on hard. At least with the compendium you can choose not to pull your strong personas
Protag level literally only effects your hp,sp and what level personas you can summon actual stats come from personas and gear it wouldn't matter what level I was if I had trash gear and a weak persona equipped that hp would mean very little
that exactly why I always do the 1st run Merciless in this fanchise. you can never fully complete the game story in 1st run anyway. So the full story will be on 2nd run and real fight(secret dlc bosses).

Wouldn't fix the availability of broken personas coming later on or status abuse for minibosses and mobfights or broken skills. Powerfantasy sucks more than newgame+.🤭

This scene ruined the mood even in NG for me lol They set up MC to be so strong then he just walks up and is instantly downed with no fight. So this shadow must be an absolute beast. But then Yukari just insta kills it as easily as it nearly insta killed MC lol All previously set power balance is thrown out the window for the sake of quick and easy showing off and it all happens so quickly that there's zero emotion tied to it. I really wish it didn't separate the group and do this. It would have been so much better to have the full team fight vs a boss that's wind based, so it downs everyone but the resistant Yukari and then she uses Theurgy to cut through its resistance. And have it actually take a minute so there's something to get invested in.
