I may have watched all of your videos by now. They are good, you are a likable person, not irritating at all, good hands, all well explained, very little I can think of negative. All in all, nice job!
Thanks man! I really appreciate it!đ€ Iâm always open to constructive criticism and feedback because I always want to keep improving my videos.
Thank you for such an awesome video. No verbal garbage, just straight to the point with good teaching. Once again thank you!
Thanks Richard!đ€ I appreciate it! Iâm glad you enjoyed it.
Dialectic grease does more than just protect the electrical connection. It also seals out moisture when applied to the boots and makes it much easier to remove the wires later as they wonât stick to the plugs like dry wires do over time.
Good to know! Thanks for sharing man!đ€
thank you for the video. best spark plug video for an obs ford truck. well explained. thanks again dude.

â@@TheMinuteMasters different types of Motorcraft spark plugs. what's the difference ??
@@rromero1091 I just buy regular copper OE plugs.
For anyone looking to do a tune up on their 302 look up "six liter tune up." I did it and I'm very happy with it.
Great tune up!đ€
Your walkthrough are helpful . I just finished changing my front suspension bushings with my dad . Took us all day and plenty of swearing . I had a question if you were gonna do a video on replacing rear leaf springs bushings. After my test drive all thatâs left clunking is the rear
Thanks Aaron! Iâm glad to hear it.
Sounds about right! Lol
I will eventually do a video on how to replace the rear leaf springs but I probably wonât touch the bushings.
Helps a lot đ
Great to hear Ben!đ€ Thanks for watching!
Oh OK thank you buddy thank you for the information be safe

I have the 5.8 and I felt stupid as soon as you said the spark plugs donât come gapped correctly. Just did all 8 a few weeks ago. Better go back through and gap them all. Great video too this is one thing I planned on doing. Just trying to keep her fresh until I can actually afford to start messing with the engine. Iâve learned a lot from your channel. FYI I have the air intake off the straight six thanks to you!! Please keep making videos!!!
Hey thereâs a first time for everything Ben and I bet you arenât the only person who has never gapped their plugs. Thanks man!đ€ ignition tuneups are always good no matter what you plan on doing with the engine down the road.
Thatâs great to hear! Well Iâll keep the videos coming!
,44 is what they come in box, thats what manuals say to use, the ones I pulled out were almost .60 gapped
@@gunsandcars3648 Wow! Thatâs why itâs always good to check.
Wait a min., 1,2,3,4,5 6,7... no, why no love for the 4.9? I have one and not trying to pretend it's a dragster, but a lightweight truck that has the best injected inline 6 Ford ever made. When the 351 boys turn their noses up I just grin, let go of the fuel nozzle, and get back to dropping it into the last hole at 70 and going to town. Cool vid, you do good work. Best.
Hahaha! My brother has a carbureted straight 6 in his f100. Iâve had loads of fun with it!
Thanks man!đ€

Notice you have an oil catch can⊠Im in the market of buying one right now for my Ford. Im curious to know what make and model the one you are running is⊠also never thought about mounting it were you did. Looks like a good spot and overall looks good.
Yup, itâs a Mishimoto universal two port catch can. I think thereâs a link in the description for it. They had a sale online and I got 15% off I think. Extremely well made.
I chose that spot because it keeps the hoses short and doesnât crowd the engine bay much.
Make sure to follow the ford tsb 94-4-10 plug wire routing to prevent crossfire :)

I remember not long ago when inertia switch failed after I replaced the transmission
I had to under the hood to start the truck with a screwdriver. The mechanic told the
entire steering column had to be replaced in order to fix the issue.đ
What! Thatâs crazy! Mechanics suggest the craziest fixes.
The truck wonât start if the inertia switch is tripped. It cuts power to the fuel pump only and has nothing to do with the start or ignition circuits.
Good morning just came across your account. Have a question. Have a 92 ford flareside with a 5.8 fuel injected. Truck runs fine on cooler weather but if the weather is over 85 degrees starts running like shit. Have replaced plugs, wires, fuel filter, regulator, map. Check fuel pressures constant 35 psi even when it starts running bad. Cleaned EGR but still no luck. Always fuel up the truck with 91 octane
Hi Alejandro! Have you read your codes?
Where you get those orange silicone trays, I went to Harbor Freight and didnt find anything like that
I bought them from Amazon. They are awesome! Hereâs the linkđ
amzn.to/3ML4Qwg
Hi Steve just wanna ask you where can I get that spark plug socket with magnet the one that you were using where can I get that thanks for your tips this is Francisco
Hi Francisco! I actually put a link for that socket in the video description. I bought it from Amazon.
Help trouble shoot issue: 1994 Ford F-150 5.0 automatic.
Issue: running rich, allot of black smog coming from the exhaust and strong smell of gas. Does not seem to be switching gears, RPM are almost hitting 4,000 running at 55 mph.
Parts Iâve changed so far;
- EGR Valve
- cleaned out the Trottle body
- TPS sensor
- IAC sensor
- O2 sensor
- PCV Valve
- MAF sensor
- distributor
- plugs
- ignition coil
- ICM
- air filter
- fuel pump front and rear
- canister purge valve
- vacuum lines
- oil change
- Temp Sensor
- fuel pressure regulator
I got you on IG. But if youâre only seeing this I would read your codes. Since itâs affecting both your engine management and your transmission it could be your PCM.
@minutemasters I recently read that your spark plug gap on the 351 engine needs to be .45 if your ignition is stock and .55 gap if you have an upgraded ignition. Is that accurate or am I getting fooled?
I think they did change the gap. However, .54-.55 is the 6 liter tune up gap. So the stock could be .45.
Hey Iâm trying to figure out if the engine of my truck is the original one and where I can fine the serial number or vin number in the engine the matches with the one on the truck
Excellent question Tomas! Unfortunately I donât know the answer to the question. I would try going to the Ford truck enthusiast forum and asking your question there or there is a Facebook page called OBS Revolution. Lots of knowledgeable people there.
The only help I can offer is that if your engine is rebuilt there should be a label indicating so on the underside of the motor. I don't remember exactly where just I remember noticing it when I was under my truck one time. If your motor wasn't rebuilt (at least not by Ford) and was simply swapped with a junkyard or donor truck motor I'm not sure how you would tell. Definitely check the forums and see if anyone else has had this question.
I just did spark plugs, come .44, chilton and hood says .40 -.50 , .44 is factory gap?
Iâm not sure what the factory gap is supposed to be. .44 sounds about right. Obviously I gapped mine to. 54 which is the 6 Litre tuneup method.
I did my spark plugs and wires. my truck has a ticking sound now at idle, today I turned it on and it started backfiring. could it be I mess up on the spark plugs ???
Check to make sure all of your spark plug wires are going to the correct terminals on the distributor. If you mixed one up, it could cause this issue. If that doesnât fix it, then youâll have to check each wiring plug one by one.
Did u change your mind on the spark plugs themselves. Those look like Sp-502âs and it looked like u had 504âs when they werenât opened. Does it create a better spark?
Itâs funny you ask about spark plugs. My guy at OâReillyâs have me plugs for a much newer f150. They were more expensive. Not sure if they are better. I always use regular copper spark plugs. Anyhow, I took a lot of pictures with the original set that I bought and then I had to swap them out for the correct ones when I was partway away through filing this video. Lol
@@TheMinuteMasters thanks for the quick reply! Just got a lifted 502 and the truck needs everything replaced! Your vidâs are saving me so much money from going to a mechanic! Do you got like a patreon? And are you going to be doing a fuel injectors video at any point in time?
@@estevan7252 No problem man! Nice! Iâm glad I can help you safe some money.
I donât have a Patreon. I like the idea of having one because I can have paid for subscriptions which would help support the channel. I just donât put out enough exclusive content to make it worth it to everyone. There is a Thanks button at the bottom of videos which Iâm hoping people will discover.
I would like to eventually replace the fuel injectors in my truck or at least get them cleaned. If youâre looking to do that work, my video on how to remove the upper intake plenum will help you access them easier.
I have a new cylindrical old style coil. Can I use it instead?
I guess so but itâs best to stick with OE required coil.
Can you please tell me the CORRECT firing order for a 1995 ford f150 5.0. Thanks
This would be very hard to explain in a comment. Since the cylinders are numbered and then I would have to give you numbers in a specific order. I would google firing order of 95 f150 5.0 and click images.
I have a 93 5.0 from previous owner with straight pipe in my city. I have emissions how many O2 sensors should I have can not pass emissions?
Already done, air filter, spark plugs, exhaust manifold, gasket, new cat it is not smoking oil change PCV valve. I am running high HC & CO.
You should have at least one. Iâd have to look at mine to be sure. I bet itâs just one.
My truck wouldnât start randomly and it turned out to be the grounding location of my negative battery terminal. (Lol also I hate those days you want to stay dry, you always sweat the most.)
That will do it!
I know right! Lol
Hi love your vids just did my water pump after watching your vid, what is .54? Thanx! Ok just checked( .054) lol .54 is a little over half an inch haha ,Cheers!
Thanks man!đ€ You got it!
What socket size fit ford 92-96 f150 mitorcraft spark plugs?
I think itâs a 5/8s. If you search a spark plug socket there are typically two standard sizes. The other standard size is the larger one.
@@TheMinuteMasters yeah its a 5/8's
I got shocked when i tried to adjust the timing. The truck was running but not sure if this is suppose to happen?
See my other comment.
Getting ready to do a compression check on all the cylinders to see if I need to replace the timing chain as well. Heard if they're equally low like 92 means the timing chain is bad?
I need to do that eventually too. Iâm not sure if a compression check will reveal a timing chain issue. This is the first time Iâve heard of that theory.
Never heard of a compression check to verify timing chain serviceability. Pull the timing cover and physically check the sprocket and gear for wear, and check slack in chain. More than 1/2" deflection and it needs to be replaced.

With gas prices going up Iâm considering converting to propane on my truck. What do you think ?
I love the propane conversions but they take up a ton of space. Technically you get the same mpg but at a way cheaper cost.
@@TheMinuteMasters thatâs what Iâm sayin. Gas is prolly gonna hit 10 a gallon. So I want to convert to propane. I mean the biggest thing is just the tank. You can just put it behind the back window in the bed yea?
I have a CNG civic, from some past reading I did⊠youâll also need stronger engine components. As a daily driver a CNG truck I believe isnt a bad idea but you should take in consideration if your going to be towing, long distance trips, etc; Im in California and we dont have a lot of stationâs
@@mraider869 nah no towing or anything. I just drive it. Whatâs cng??
Why didn't you go to MSD cap and rotor?
I didnât think it was any better than the Motorcraft. My understanding is that the MSD dizzy and ignition box are the real upgrades.
Just glancing at at the plugs on the passenger side it looks like theyâre difficult to get to
So the passenger side is a bit more cluttered. However, a good step ladder, that spark plug socket, and the plug wire pullers makes it a breeze.đ€

What kind of tune is this?
Itâs a tune up/like ignition refresh.
I just did this to mine not long ago because of the hard startâŠ. Only difference is I went with the Accel distributor and rotor and ignition coil but Iâm still having the hard start issue
Do check timing and possibly fuel pressure test.
czcams.com/video/Ghyn9hz8Yj8/video.html
Hereâs a link to help brother
Nice! I wonder what difference Accel makes when compared to Motorcraft or an off the shelf brand.
How your fuel and air system looking?
@joaquinwalker, I do need to check timing but as far as fuel pressure I was reading 33-34psi at idle, all my vacuum lines been replaced too to rule out the fuel pressure regulator
@theminutemasters I did notice improvement when turning over the engine unlike before all sluggish, good thing I done the tuneup anyways because mine had 3 different brand spark plugs in it and they were all pretty much worn out lol the contacts in the distributor cap had seen better days so Iâm glad I had done all this
How come your no longer using msd cap?
Iâm told the cap and rotor arenât anything special. Also, OBS Fords are particularly about motor craft ignition parts.
@TheMinuteMasters OK thanks I'll use motorcraft then for all my ignition components. I'm about to do it all this weekend
How many miles did you have on the old ones?
Itâs hard to say. I think I did my last tuneup and 2017. The Haynes manual says you should do a tuneup every 30,000 miles for I think itâs three years. Itâs definitely over those two.
@@TheMinuteMasters Ford Tech told me yrs ago on the 5.0 Foxbody Mustangs that the Plug Wires usually go bad before the plugs. ? My 95 F150 5.0 seems to run better with Motorcraft Copper, even with the the MSD Coil.
@@bobbywren123 I would believe that. The plugs I took out looked dirty but they certainly didnât look damaged. Iâve swapped wires before and I felt like itâs improved ignition.
Should have done a stock 5.0 and not one with a MSD cap. Who goes around with MSD caps ?
It was cheaper than stock at the time.
Where can I buy your hat?

It will usually start from Relay, while in park with key turned forward using a screwdriver touching both bolts on the Relay on Fender next to Battery. If it starts then you know it's probably the Starter going out or Ground Wire.
I've had to start mine like that, gets you going so you can replace it later
Thatâs a neat trick Bobby! Iâll have to keep that in mind if Iâm ever stranded.
Last time for me was the battery terminals were loose, even though I could of swore I tightened them down. Uncle comes over, pulls the negative one right off. Tightens it down, started right up. Lol
@@robbobsjobs8456 Battery terminals can be finicky like that. Iâve had some where they were sort of tight but not a great connection.
I replaced my spark plugs with E3 Diamond Fire maybe I should go back to Motorcraft
Are they not working for you?
Motorcraft copper or Autolite copper plugs is your best bet for stock replacement.
@@jamestapscott9400 Agreed 100%đ€
@@jamestapscott9400 Why not iridium?
You don't gap your plugs with the disc tool by prying on it with the disc... you gap them with the hole in the disc. It will just touch the posts and won't damage your plugs. Learn to use it correctly, it's not a bad tool. Are there better? Yes. But it gets the job done as long as you don't mis-use it as you demonstrated.
