Honestly its more like if you had a direct lineage to say Hercules therefore part of that Legend resides in you and thus your predisposed to greatness.

And yet, one that fails to pass the shallowest of the scrutineerings, if one is observant enough to actually know a kindred from a mere mortal.
Lineage is not to impress people, it is to show the size of the burden of obligatory nobility that a kin has to shoulder, and how much is expected of him, in terms of greatness and leadership skills, to get the job done when it is needed to be done.
You, neonates, are a victim of your times. You think that any two-bit conman with their pockets full of money is one of the blue bloods, with their ridiculous demeanor and violent manners, or the pesky habit of trying to bribe anything and anyone, in order to gather followers and workers for itself.
No, you couldn't be further from the truth.
You see, the blue bloods are the emperors, kings and queens of yore, those thrusted into power by duty, unwillingly born into power, and forced to carry the burden for the sake of its people. Off course, you can claim that lots of rulers of yore were quite irrational and they put their people in danger more than they lead their people to greater glories, and yet, these rulers are the ones with the shortest reigns, with their deaths well documented. The "stock" where we, the blue bloods draw our kin, is from those who have not only had long ruling period, but those who garnered more glory than disgrace on their fief.
We rule because we must.
If not by us, the kindred would have been all burned at the stakes of the Roman Catholic Church, as many did, mostly because despite all of our superior vampiric powers over mankind, they outnumber us greatly, and underestimating them was the dire mistake done by your elders that almost put our species in extinction. We can have the final death, neonates, and in this day and age, an incendiary bomb is relatively cheap and easy to make, that any mortal with a bottle, gasoline and a rag can seriously injure a kindred, or even kill it, leaving no chance of escape for this member of our illustrious society to survive its predicament, because the attack is done during the day.
If not by us, the Masquerade would have never existed, and we would not be here having this conversation. So yeah, we own several "dealerships" and other kinds of business, but money is a mere tool to keep you all safe, and we GLADLY pay the cost, for all of us survive one more night.
Now, all of you may leave, and if you have not found new respect for my kin, you will not survive many more nights to come.

My favorite archetype of Ventrue is 'the cleaner.' You're the sort of Ventrue who would work under the Sheriff or Prince and get your hands dirty for the good of the domain. You're a consummate professional. The 'when you want something done right you do it yourself' type, to add another Bloodlines quote. For jobs that are just too important to send in the hot headed Brujah. It kind of comes off as bringing a little Dark Ages into the modern nights too, demeanor wise.

I love that you're bringing up the fact that Ventrue are the leaders for a *good reason*. Like yeah we all have the stories of semi-incompetent or delusional Ventrue, but without them greasing the wheels the Camarilla wouldn't have lasted a generation. Great video! :D
I think they're saving Gangrel for the "Season of the Wolf" DLC.
A bit disapointed that our dear Outsar didnt adressed the etymology of the Clan name:
"Ventrue" is a French term that designate a wealthy and upper person: so wealthy that his belly is full and rond, bulbous, paunchy (ventre mean belly in French)
It is a denonciation of the difference in social-class for people who stuff their faces, feeding on the lowers citizens. It is an adjective related to a sense of Glutony and Greed

The "Dominate" skill is far more malevolent...perhaps best used by "good" Ventrue as a last resort.

And that "rule of thumb" is in the core of the "noblesse oblige" concept... One that most neonates are not fully informed about, which is a shame.
About how the developers of Bloodlines 2 is planning to determine the Ventrue’s preference:
They mentioned in the Ventrue clan introduction video that it will be tied to the Resonance system and that Ventrue in the game will only get a lot of blood out of humans with high Resonance, but that they still be able to feed on animals, blood packs and humans with low Resonance but that they will get much less out of it.
They talked about it at around 16:30 in the video.

“… since we can’t really give you that strong of a determination [of your Ventrue preference]; what has happened in Bloodlines 1, and now bloodlines 2, it that the thing gets made a little broader while still being quite punishing actually. For bloodlines 2 we are going with the Resonance system, that’s something we talked about before, but to give a quick recap of that as well: essentially, in the lastest version of VTM every human carries a Resonance, essentially a flavour in their blood, whitch is more or less their emotional state, there might be somebody that you pass on the subway arguing loudly on the phone who’s got a lot of rage resonance in them. And there might be somebody else just hanging out at the bus station that might be having a little bit of resonance in them. Which kind of already tells us that there’s different amounts of Resonance in different people, depending on how intensely they feel right now or in general.
And for a Ventrue a low amount of Resonance is just not really worth it. So [with] weaker Resonances in people, blood packs, or animals like rats, you don’t get no blood we already, we are still in pre-Alpha so balancing is still ongoing, but we already noticed that that got a little too punishing in the end, but [it’s] radically diminished, and that means, as a player, Ventrue becomes a bit, fittingly, higher maintenance.
You’ll want to spend a little more time hunting to get to the good stuff, and you will have to very often plan you combat a little more strategically so that the last enemy standing, which let’s be real here in VTM usually becomes your designated next drink, is tasty enough.”
The last paragraph went into the combat which you talked about; how Ventrue needs to be strategic in that situation.

Also, yes, for those who might not know... Al Capone was embraced, he's currently the Ventrue Primogen of Chicago.
If the writers did their research Al Capone married an Irish-American woman and was known for sleeping with and forming alliances with other ethnic groups.

Also I think that the use of presence from a ventrue is VERY different than the use an archetipypical toreador or brujah....it is not about the use of beauty or intimidation like toreadors or brujah...but the display of regal authority and awe inspiring magesty and respect.
Lacroix also mentions in the 1st Bloodlines game how difficult the, "folly of leadership," can be. In his words, "Leadership. I wear the Albatross and the Bullseye."

I feel like Malkavian would be a suitable DLC clan. I loved playing Malk in Bloodlines 1, but if first time players were to pick Malk on their first playthrough it would be hella confusing (if the madness in B2 works the same as in B1 of course). That said, I don't think the developers would pass up the chance to have Malkavians in their game again

My first character ever was a Ventrue language professor. His preference was for scholarly students (he wasn't gonna drink from any party boys/girls). It made me happy when you said a Venture whos an educator was a good idea ^_^

I would love to see a "modern day spartan" type of ventrue in the Anarch movement. Someone who sees the leaders of the camarilla as weak and not worthy to lead. Someone who thinks that battle prowess and a mind for military strategy are signs of noble blood ("ability marks superiority, superiority earns right" or "I'm not a leader because I'm just capable to, I'm capable because i was born to lead"). Someone who preffers to beat you in open conflict instead of schemes and has military/law enforcement/athletics/martial arts related background with noble blood on top.

Awesome video and it's cool to have the clan of kings and queens playable. And knowing me I'll probably play Ventrue and I'll be part of the archetype that goes by the saying "the ones who rule do so because they deserve it" basically the Ventrue who are heroes and heroines who prefer to gain status and power the true honorable way by actually going out and taking on the burdens of the herd and other kindred instead of sitting up in a tower and discussing politics and using so-called "underhanded" tactics and by actually stepping up and fight when it's time to battle instead of hiding like a coward and having true loyalty from the other clans by earning it instead of demanding loyalty just cause because I'm a Venture. Yeah that's the archetype I usually do crazy, and risky yes but I still get status and prestige and I'm 100% sure that I'll have help from other clans instead of having for the most part the other clans hate me.

Ventrue are the best, the tragedy of them clinging to nobility and decorum against the beast and modernity, and the drinking preference choices, open the door to some really interesting roleplay. i had a ventrue who could only drink from thinbloods, and he kept a herd of them. Of course, the camarilla was Delighted to have someone keeping a bunch of walking signs of doom in the city (spoilers: no they weren't, other ventrues shunned him and politely, but firmly crossed him out of the guestlists for fundraiser dinners). Pretty lonely un-life.

I feel embarrassed that I wasn't aware you were expecting after watching so many videos, congratulations.
When I first discovered VTM, Ventrue was one of my least favourite clans (and playing Bloodlines didn't help to improve my opinion), but recently I started to like them.
My favourite clan is still a matter of debate, but the strongest contendant for now is Lasombra (the other contendants are Tremere and Toreador), so I really hope Outstar's prediction about Bloodlines 2 is right.

...It’s been about 3 years since I played, and I’m disappointed I didn’t get to put my poor character through this /obnoxiously/ slytherin right of passage.
Every time they get their party in trouble.

Great video, but Ventrue are a little, I say a little, more meritocratic between them
The subtleties is they can not openly disgrace an Elder of their clan, interrupt or contradict them
But ! Their internal rank is totally about pratical thing you do for the clan and you're gonna progress and gain responsability if you do a good job
Obviously, there is a political play and also people who get there because they have very good friends - but it is also the philosophy of the Ventrue, build a network is not allow to anyone
In short, this is more complex than stereotypical Ventrue CEO and you explain that pretty well
Ventrue can, and can't be resume at "social powermonger", they seek social rank in every form

Thanks! I love these videos. I played the original release of Vampire, and VtMB is my favorite rpg of all time, but I'm not up to date on the v5 stuff. All that said I will be very disappointed if Malkavian aren't in the initial release. The player experience was handled _so_ well in the the first game and they are such a distinct part of that game's overall experience. Of course I'll probably be playing Toreador on my first play-through in the new game just like I did in the first one, but come on Malks!. Thanks again!
I think the last clan will be Nosferatu only because one can be seen prominently in the announce trailer. Since all players start out as thinbloods, I believe the only way we can join a full blooded clan is through diablerization based on what little I know of the lore. As that Nos on the trailer looked like he was about to become the player character's lunch, I will place a good bet that the Noseratu are the last clan to be revealed.
If you start as thinblood, you have choice. And... I don`t see logic. Who want become Nosferatu ? No one want live in sewers and look like shit.

Great video and very informative. If they stick to the original collection of clans from the first game, I suspect that Nosferatu will be next since out of all of them, they focus mostly on stealth, something that's missing from the lineup for Bloodlines 2. Though I suppose with the way you start off as a Thin Blood, they may skip them, so possibly Gangrel.
Also, enjoyed your little outtake at the end, rather amusing way to play on your wardrobe usage for these clan videos while at the same time giving viewers a look at how your pregnancy is coming along. Know the gender? Or are you guys taking the surprise route?
If you wanna really settle down that silly and inexpert Brujah who contest everything you do (no matter what) put him in charge, he will see what really mean make hard decisions and mantain power; eventually he screw up everything (maybe with your help 😈) then you will put him down and everyone will salute your return more happy than before.

Great vid! As for the final clan, I personalyl pull for Nos, considering we know that at least two clans from BL1, and that we know that we'll get more clans for free when DLC drops. The first DLC, Season of the Wolf, seems a shoe-in for Gangrel leaving Nos or Malks out.
But the image we have to work with, the theory of it being an asylum is a bit on the nose for a malkavian. Plus if the first game was any indication, for malks they're going to have to rewrite a LOT of dialogue. The shadowey corridor could mean Lasombra but I honestly don't see them being in the initial clans unless they REALLY wanted to throw us for a loop. It looks more like a service basement to me, not quite a sewer but still a place a nos would be, a way to skulk around and collect info.
Also working with the theory that Gangrel would be left out, Nosferatu are more integral to the camarilla or really the whole vampire scene than malks are, not to say there isn't wisdom to be gleaned from their madness that certain parties can use but the hackers and info gatherers are definatley better for the overall story. Malks make more sense to me to come later, perhaps alongside Gangrel.
On that note, other DLC could give us Lasombra too, I'm assuming there's the obvious main story with the whole Camarilla and Anarch dichotomy with paths to choose from, as well as clan stories and outside questlines to see other facets of the World of Darkness setting, but we'll likely fight some sabbat in the main game or perhaps join them in a DLC later, which ould lead to a Lasombra neonate picking between them or the cam. Or maybe even just playing Tzimisce and being an open monster >:D
The prospect of more DLCs can even lead more into things we wouldn't think to see. Ravnos perhaps? Though they'd have to be careful not to keep it away from the connotations of the romani sterotypes, not impossible if handled tactfully. Giovanni could be cool too. There's a lot of facets in the Vampire corner of the World of Dakrness to explore, let's hope the game goes well enough to see a good bit of it :D

My fav route in bloodlines 1 was with anarch Ventrue. I decided to make him my vtm oc but i don't know if i should roleplay with him yet (maybe i will wait for that character creation guide and see what i can do with my Leonardo xD)
If I was in WoD, I'd have to say I'd either be straight Tzimisce, or an antitribu Ventru. When I took the personality test for bloodlines 1, I got ventru. I'm usually the cold business type, climb the ladder ruthlessly and get your rivals to cut each other down, on top of my Naval service. They did hint that the last clan will be one not in BL1. I don't know much about the other clans, because I'm new to the world outside the video games, but I'm always up for new playable "races"; like when they added Qunari to 'Dragon Age'.
When did they hint that and what was the hint?

Ahhhh another one, we will get´em later not in the base game Im totally sure that the next clan are the Nosferatu. They need to change a whole play style for DLC later and thats would be more work than the work to add them at all. Lasombra, Malks, Gangrel and maybe other clans are coming but later. Im sry 4 u

I'm hoping for Malkavian. They are an awesome clan and one of the most popular due to the special dialogue options you get with them. Like making a thug see his friends as salmon and he a bear, making him attack his friends.
Last clan is Malkavian. Gangrel will most likely be a DLC introduced with werewolves.

if i had to come up with a ventrue character he would be chief of medicine at a hospital.
as an immortal creature of the night you would have all the time in the world to learn the necessary skills and knowledge and once you did, using your disciplines you could secure the spot.
this owuld also allow you access to the blood bank, which is powerful since, while ventrue don't drink bagged blood, the other clans do, so it is a powerful resource which you have control over.
