Bro this is hard sparring not fight
Yh this Is sparring. Far from a fight. Also this definitely didn't happen a year ago maybe a couple of months ago when u started using clips from this.
Just hold the fact ur a bigger novice then u make out there's no shame in it. But bare goofy to play it off as something it's not because it seems cool
You got some nice attributes that would crosss over into boxing well I was impressed
def shouldve had mma gloves if it was an mma fight grappling in boxing gloves sucks so bad
So much for "train for real world activities"
Let go of your ego and go to a real fight gym where you can actually get coached. Cause this shit...wont work in the real world.
For zero grappling experience, your takedown defense held up really well. I've seen BJJ guys with tons of experience who have absolutely zero idea of how to wrestle and would just jump on a guillotine. Good instinct to reach for underhooks and lift the upper body to break the grip he had on your legs.
It’s because my guapito chulito hermoso Mario has such strong legs
It’s because u don’t be silly, jump the guilly
Respect to mario for posting himself getting submitted
💯
It’s all apart of the game. Then there’s bodybuilders and power lifters who think they can fight meanwhile the weights don’t fight back lmao
@@nitolinilo9034 Not everyone wants to be a fighter stupid

You should make a video on how individual exercises transfer to fighting. It was cool to hear you explain how strong squats and hip thrusts helped your defense.
Hip thrust are goated for jiujitsu as well
@@nitolinilo9034as someone who has done boxing for 4 years now, I want to get into wrestling what are the best exercises I should start now for wrestling strength
I respect you MarioRios, this is the greatest thing ive seen from you so far. I am happy to see you go down the MMA route. Keep up the tough work.
This is why Mario will become UFC welterweight champion after Leon retires.
Mario I really appreciate the guts you have to keep this kind of content ignoring what all negetive comments could come great fight and hail atheletic bodybuilding
Against the cage, it wasn't your strength stopping him but instead the underhooks. The running stance you have is good to get the legs further away so it's more difficult to lock the legs. From there instead of having a whizzer when he's already lowered his level which is essentially trying to hammer curl his body weight pummel for double underhooks under the close arm and cross face him to get his head off of you which prevents him from finishing the takedown.
Also, when you have that position you can eventually turn him. When you had the guillotine-like position with your left arm over his head and the whizzer that's technique not strength. If you were bent over like Henry Cejudo was when Merab lifted him recently it would be easier to lift you, but driving your weight into your legs and maintaining an upright stance makes it harder to lift you. Think about how much easier it would be if someone were over your shoulder you could basically just barbell squat them as opposed to say a ssb good morning where the weight is further forward and you have less leverage. I know you call your opponent a wrestler, but either he lacks cage wrestling experience or he can't wrestle in the gloves (which my base for mma and Zabit's base for mma Sanda which is kickboxing and wrestling allows). He should not be trying to lift you straight up since there's nowhere behind for you to fall back against the cage. That was bad technique on his part. Instead of driving you straight forward he should have taken an angle which he eventually did or sweep his legs from under him.
Once you got taken down, you should have posted on the head and attempted to take your hips out which would allow you to stand up and get your legs out of him trying to lock them. Getting to butterfly from that position is very hard. Also, as the striker you should be looking to stand up instead of attacking your own subs or sweeps against the superior grappler.
From mount, a basic escape is to trap an arm and hip bump. From back mount, you should try to get your shoulder blades to the mat. If the mat has your back, he doesn't.
Also although I agree keeping your hands up is overrated, you should learn first to keep your hands up and then incorporate your hands down style. When you kick your opposite side hand that becomes your new rear hand should be stopping any incoming attacks. The other thing is the gloves help the striker out a lot in defending the wrestling especially cage wrestling because its very difficult to take someone down in boxing gloves, but on the ground it benefits the grappler because the striker can't defend himself well on the ground, so don't beat yourself up about that submission. That may not have happened in mma gloves because you can better defend yourself. Either way though, if this were a fight you would have lost from the submission, so you lost the fight. What happens after is only artificial because it's not a fight it's sparring.
There are no winners in sparring. Only for learning. In any case, good on you for getting this out here. It takes courage to put yourself out there especially as controversial as you are.
Mario even fights like leon😂 southpaw, kickboxing heavy and good takedown defense
takedown defense mod like brute strength... But it was like 1.5 years ago and he does bjj now

Nothing but respect. 100% professional and humble.
Maybe you could do video analyzing leon 's fiights and what techniques make him so great (for example Edwards vs Usman 2)
That’s a recipe for a copyright strike
hahaha@@Coach_MarioRios
Not only it's a recipe for a copyright but you would need actual experience to analyze a fight properly which Mario obviously does not have.
Respect to you for training and putting work in. As a big ufc/mma fan i would be shitting myself. Ive always thought about joining a gym or some sort of martial art such as judo. The only thing ive done is wrestling in 10 th grade and itbl was the most fun i had but very scary. My first wrestling match i was shitting bricks.😂😂😂
mario, long time fan and martial artist and im just saying you shouldnt be throwing those headkicks on a guy in your gym thats preparing for a fight unless you wanna make enemies.
Good work my mans 🤜
Nice video bro, keep doing your thing. One day you'll be the next best fitness creator in the world😍😍. God Bless
We need more of these reaction vids
Yoo bro can you Make a video regarding reps and sets of explaining every type for example hypertrophy, plyometrics in details
Respect to mario u are class
Can you do a review on your gear?
We need more fight reviews!!!
You should do a video on cte in martial arts
I’m a grappler and the only reason he couldn’t take u down is he was trying to finish the shot or against the wall while u had leverage from the wall and the under hooks you had. He should have gone for an outside trip and stayed near your outside
Wgen it comes to takedowns against the cage I was taught to spread my legs out to prevent him from him wrapping his arms around and pushdown on his head
Mario’s kick was really good well timed but since he is not really long (reach) he should of been a little more closer for the kick to land in the middle of the shin which is the part thats conditioned the best and not the bottom if that bottom landed on a bone could of cause swelling to the shin and if the person didnt get knocked out you would of had a problem
Those kicks were nice, the punches timed nicely, and pretty decent takedown defense, with a little work on grappling you’d be golden. Well done 💯
When he had you on the wall here's some tips to not get taken down/gain control.
1. Grab an under hook
2. If the sprawl isn't there, pop your hips like you would when deadlifting
3. Push his head down
4. Try to control at least one of his wrist
(Hopefully this helps in the future)
Your first fight is better than me who has trained for half a year, respect
Goldent content bro 👌
9:26 he’s in too deep to sprawl at that point. Maybe if you let go of the under hook and started to feed him your hips while pushing the head down then it’s possible to defend but I think the wall would have gotten in the way. You could have also let go of the under hook and cross faced him really hard
Edit: make sure to also grab the whizzer once you sprawl to trap the arm. If you don’t he can just peek out and finish the cut double that way
mario the kind of guy to get subbed and still win the fight
Good shit bro
And that is why Billy has the most aesthetic physique
6:35 that whole sequence you had the underhook. This allows you to frame and control his posture. If he had hooked your right leg with his left leg, he could’ve changed the angle and thrown you down. You’re defending the takedowns as the same way you use a squat or deadlift but also, I think you just have a good understanding of physics and body frames. It’s about controlling posture and relation to their center of mass. When he takes you down later on, that realm is jiu jitsu and stuff.
Idk fs though that’s just my take on it
what is the name of the video for your 1st mma fight?
The first thing you should learn is obviously, takedown defense. Takedown defense is mostly just sprawling or scrambling and getting back up. When you and your opponent are on the ground and your legs are between your body and his, you're now in the guard position and your goal is to either get back up or defend your guard from being passed (guard retention). The most important concepts to remember in guard retention is to never let them have a chest to chest connection with you or let them control your head with a crossface. If they have either of those, they can begin to mount you which you probably already know is the second worst position in MMA (number one is having your back taken).
Learn fundamental grappling concepts such as pin escapes, inverting, technical stand-up, hip heisting, back heisting, turtling, sweeps, etc. You have to learn how to scramble and get back on to your feet if you're not confident with your jiu jitsu or submission game.
U should make a video on how individual excercise help u in mma
I've been doing kickboxing for around a month. How much expirence should I get before I can start sparring?
It’s not about how long it’s about how good or experienced you are, I’m sure you have a coach so don’t ask us man ask him if you’re ready. If you want a shortcut, I just kept convincing my coach to let me spar once he’s annoyed of you you’ll spar soon😂😂
Start going light first
Get really good with your defense.
Light sparring you can start almost immediately, harder sparring should wait until your more experienced.
i train for like 5 months now coach letting me spar
hell yes
Mario put up an amaizing fight but despite him having no grappling experience and him having an amazing first fight he got chocked out before throwing that marvelous head kick so it would be a loss for mario
how many mma fight have you had and what is your record?
Zero
Looking good out there it’s enough to see you know what your talking about take down defense is really hard to do ppl get flung around
Yo Mario, you should try drilling more foot work for better balance. You’re very l explosive but you have a bad habit of crossing your legs when circling and near your opponent. Crossing your legs isn’t too awful of a thing but when so close to your opponent it might take them only one leg kick to put you on your butt.
Good stuff bro 😎 👍
DANA BETTER SIGN THIS MAN UP💯‼😤
Takedown defense was honestly pretty solid for no experience.
just some critisicm, if your hands are hurting after a round you arent punching properly, also, if youre sparring too hard, youre never gonna improve your strinking if you spar like that, you dont look tough or strong doing it, especially if the guy has a fight coming up
didnt know a spar counted as a "fight"
yeah it’s pretty weird how he called a sparring session a fight. by that logic ive had like 30 fights lol
or maybe he counted it as a fight because they were going hard? idfk because the other dude was preparing for a fight which implies that this is just sparring, but still idk
Probably just a more catchy title
You can say it is a "fight simulator" 😅

Let’s be honest, only reason that headkick almost landed because he threw it immediately after the glove tap, and even then the guy still blocked it well enough, idk what’s this “power” he’s talking about💀
It was a strong kick, only imperfection was that he didn't fully commit to it.
He had power in that kick, if that hit in the head, it might've been a knockdown.
Plus, fighters should protect themselves at all times, and you also gotta drill that when preparing for a fight.
