The squares get all the love, but the 6900 is every bit as definitive as a G Shock in my opinion. The square came first, but there was a tome when you said "gshock" it was a 6900 that came to mind.

I have the solar one and i wear it as an everyday watch for 13 years now! I have to say that the battery never goes down from Hi and i have never change the strap all that years and it still holds very well ! It's totally a wear and forget clock! Never needs anything and because it's multiband never loses even a second! I have a lot of watches and if i had to choose only one this could be it!

Hab meine DW 6900 Fox Fire jetzt schon über25 Jahre.
Das einzige was inzwischen fehlt weil die es über die Jahre die Weichmacher verloren hat und gerissen ist, ist die Lünette (Bezel).
Das Armband ist immernoch das erste.
      Unglaubliche Qualität.👌

I just got one, it's perfect for police work. I almost got a luminox and so glad i didn't. I see why it's so popular in the military, tons of features and EXCELLENT value for the money. Super comfortable wearing watch.

I usually need to track time in seconds, so having a countdown timer that can count in 1-second steps is crucial. Even though I like how the GW looks, I ended up choosing the DW instead.

I think those three counters being very useful. At least in my case.
I need some 1 min counter to measure time between reps in the gym. DW-6900 allows me to that and I can still see time and date on the main screen. Feels like an EPIC win to me.
    Ordered mine yesterday.
Thank you for the review ❤

I like 1V more and i have this on my wrist. I like flash alert in timer / alarm, auto repeat timer function, backlight can glow as long as you pushing button, clock in stopwatch and the look. I dont like new "G" font on EL button on GW6900 and limited timer to minutes but i like how it display day of week :)

I wish that Casio would someday make a new version of the GW-6900-1 with LED backlight, and maybe replace Multi Band 6 with Bluetooth while retaining the Tough Solar feature of the original GW-6900.

In my 5 years of collecting, i only ever had the Square with the 1983 design because i found modern G shocks too bulky and aggressive and i prefer Casio's retro designs. But recently i got into more of their retro designs such as the dw-290 that also lead me to this model. Both on their way from amazon.

4:50 You didn't really give the solar enough credit lol. This is the only watch I own, I bought it with the intent for it to be my only watch as long as it lasts, and the solar power is insane. I worked the overnight shift for a year and a half, and it would see the sun for like an hour a day at most, more frequently less than 5 minutes of direct sun. I was underneath factory florescent lights most of the time I was awake, and I slept with it on my wrist under the covers with blackout shades. Not once during that year and a half did it drop below High Battery power, even though the Power Saving Mode won't come on when you are active at night since like most things it is time based. When Casio says it takes 5 minutes of direct sunlight or 8 hours of bright indoor light to power it for a full day's use, they mean it.

Thanks. That's valuable feedback. I'm seeing the same thing. I've never seen the battery level fall below the maximum mark, and I don't make any special effort to keep it charged any more.

Had a tough solar for well over a 15 years, when I was wearing the watch daily only once a year normally towards the end of winter would it need a day on a window sill in the sun to charge. For the past 5 it’s sat unused in a draw, pulled it out this week and after only a few minutes in the sun it woke up and within a day was back to full charge

Call me crazy, but the bezel-less watch in between replacing it, doesn't look half bad. I prefer the 5600, but I'm going to have to get one of these to feel more complete. Both are absolute classics.

Can I just ask what the actual case size is (not lug to lug) from just above the curved G SHOCK on the bezel above 12 to just below the light button at 6? It's really difficult to find the answer because every measurement on the web includes the "lugs"/start of strap, it would be so handy if you could, thanks in advance 👍🏻

    • @UHOOHEXTRATECH
      @UHOOHEXTRATECH  Před rokem +1

The main differences between Casio GW-6900 and GW-7900 are that the GW-7900 offers additional tide and moon graphs, making it more suitable for marine activities.

    • @UHOOHEXTRATECH

Having owned them both longer now, I'd say the solar watch wasn't difficult to live with actually. I hardly ever bother putting it anywhere to charge anymore but it always shows a full charge on the display. I've never seen it go down, and I like that it syncs the time every night. But the other is cheaper
