Absolutely. A coworker was listing his favorite bands the other day. It was all Five Finger Death Punch, Theory Of A Dead Man, etc... I told him that if rock and roll was in its previous state those bands, even Foo Fighters, would just be lost in the mix, surrounded by better bands. I was in that sweet spot of young life in the early 90's, born in 1970. We were very aware how lucky we were to be in that time in history. It was a lot, I'd imagine, like the 60's in that there were all kinds of emerging music and mixing of genres. Concerts too. In the 80's we'd see rock band opening for rock band. Pop band with pop band. In the 90's you could go see shows like RATM, Cypress Hill and Rancid or Offspring, A Tribe Called Quest and Juliana Hatfield.
Where did you get that idea from? Didn't you hear everyone screaming and cheering when Jay was introducing them? They were very popular so no shocks just admiration.
The verses he sings, he’s literally breathing in and out the lyrics. No one can do that! He’s the best vocalist of the past 30 years in terms of versatility and vocal range.
"you're perfect yes it's true, but without me, you're only you" -one of the best lyrics ever written ❤️ Mike Patton writes such creative, wild and sometimes insane lyrics. Gotta love it!
Wonderful reaction! 💖 Have you seen midlife crisis in later years performed live? I love the original sequence they do in the middle and I collect videos of them doing it differently each time. I'm a proud geek haha 😎
Leno had never seen anything like that and neither had I. Decades later I still listen to this tune quite often - the live videos are the best. Epic band.
I never get tired watching and listening to Mike Patton sing like a beast! God I love his voice! And the way he uses his body tiosing with all his power. He has a range of 6 octaves which very few rock singers have; not even Axl or any of the other great metal screamers
@@luciferthedoberman8991 www.fnm.com/images/promo/9208SeMike1.jpg this is the closest I can find to it. I actually thought it would be easy to find. somewhere back in 1992/93 I seen photo in Kerrang or Raw magazine of Mike on stage in a shirt and cap saying 'Service Manager' on it and I thought it looked cool and funny. But alas I cannot find it now!
Mike and his energy scaring the fuck out of the audience. I remember they used canned applause to get the audience going bc they were too stunned to speak (lol). I mat be wrong but it was defo one or more FNM performances. They hit it hard! Gotta love it.
Wow. Seriously. Loved this band as a kid. Found out yesterday that Patton is the only singer recognised able to sing in over six octaves. e.g. Mariah Carey (who's music probably isn't for me, but I recognise that she can hit a note) can sing in four (me, I struggle with one).
Yes he can hit near 7 octave. There's another guy named Dimash or something like that. I'm sorry but I don't know him or his music really but have heard him sing. Not only can MP sing but the man speaks nine different languages! He is amazing.
@@misstury606 he's no Axl Rose, 😂 I'm just kidding they're both like my two favorite bands and when they changed it from Axl Rose to Mike Patton with the vocal range it was hilarious inside joke between me and a few people because they didn't like either singer, and both of them are my favorites

The amount of talent that was around in the early 90s was ridiculous

Yes. Every man on that stage is wildly talented.
In my opinion, this is the best performance of Midlife Crisis 💕
MuzZ
In my opinion I would have to agree!
Lmao
agree, it's flawless
So, what you're saying is this song does not perform live well then ...
hey, now just that mike sang it more closely to the record during the tour of the album.
hangin' with MTV was good. maybe better. there's a few better than this..
I bet the vast majority of the Tonight Show audience were like wtf? Legendary performance
Agreed!

he was inward singing before Tenacious D haha

Mike Patton is a BEAST!
1:10 - 1:25 my very first time watching Faith No More performing Midlife Crisis on a TV show and it gave me chills all over my arms. Whoa. :'-)

I love how the bassline is largely thumping the low E but Billy's playing still looks like the coolest thing ever! He's very inspiring.
Bored bassists unite
Bro, I'm a bass player and the majority of FNM songs are fairly intricate, dude is a beast
Love the Gene Simmons shirt and he’s rocking out
Yeah Bill said when they made this song he wanted to just do something really simple
Billy Gould is a TREASURE
Well....now we know where Christian Bale got the inspiration for his Batman voice.
lol lol
This is the best live performance I’ve ever seen. Kicks ass.
Incredible live performance of one of my favorite songs ever.
Best live performance of this song I've seen.
Probably the most startling perfomance I have ever seen.
Why

Truly sensational performance!

I would pitch Mike Patton against Rob Trujillo in a crab-walking contest.
And they would both lose to Abbath!
high
Damn, I never thought I could ever enjoy a crab walking contest until you mentioned this! That would be an epic crab off!!!
lol
@@AnOkayPerson Absolutely! Can Rob and Mike crab-walk up and down the frostbitten Norwegian mountains? I think NOT!
What a band!!!😍🥰
All my teenage life...
Faith no More is the best rock band ever Mike Patton is a god of rock
I remember watching this when it first ran on TV. Totally blew my mind! Especially the power from Mike Bordin. BAMMMM!!!!
On this tour Mike Patton wore the 'Service Manager' outfit... legendary, and way ahead of its time!!!

If an audience was scared by one of their performances, it was probably SNL ON Dec 01, 1990. At least compared to this
Increíble transformación de voz de mike Patton de un momento a otro en esta canción
Hats off for reaching the vocal pitch on the slow interlude/bridge
I remember staying up past bedtime to watch this. They were so ahead of their time, and still fucking are
This album... soundtrack of my life...in those days. He is a fckn treasure. Dynamic voice insane range
how fuckin hard is it to switch from that metal voice to perfect verse? FUCKING, thats how hard
"..a donor by habit.." .. damn I recall this song word by word.. so good
Love thé keyboard Guy awe
Just love it so much 🧍🧍🧍🎸🎸🎸🎸❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💯♥️
One of the greatest albums of the nineties
What an awesome live version
Greatest band ever!
Those short-lived cardboard CD boxes!
Had no idea what I was looking at!
Worth a lot now!!! FNM💞
I had that box cut out and hung on my wall, along with some other bands.
I'd cut em and decorate my lockers in highschool.
Beautiful faith no more!
Jim Martin is increible!!!!!!!!
I love Jim Martin. Too bad he wasn't on stage.
Oh, I guess he was....
@@TimBowermeisterestas borracho??? O no tienes oído o nunca has tocado un puto instrumento......
A perfect performance, it's true!
Mike Patton have been on Top of the Singing mountain for a very longtime in the aggressive music style
That was a lot of performance for a talk show. The audience must've been blown away!
Too good to comment on really.
Back when CD's came in boxes taller than DVD cases come today. I miss those days and I wish I had saved all my tall CD boxes.
Well damn, I bet these kids are gona be popular.
All music should sound like this if you disagree shut up you're extremely wrong
Here in 2020 because John Mayer specifically referenced this video on an IG chat today. It does not disappoint!
Mike Looks like his daddy. Haha
Saw them, Primus, Jellyfish, Psychefunkapus in the Bay area heyday. Fab music scene!
Jim Martin absolutely hating to be there.... :D

There are very few instances of a band overcoming the loss of a lead singer, but somehow FNM pulled it off, and even improved.
