  • Why is Spring Becoming the New Summer? | Vantage with Palki Sharma
Spring is dramatically disappearing the world over. Year on year, spring is arriving much earlier and it is getting hotter. That’s because climate change is scrambling the seasons. Over the past seven decades, the timing of seasons has been changing. Spring advances by 2.8 days in the northern hemisphere per decade. Meanwhile, in the past 60 years, summer has increased by 17 days on average globally. According to studies, summer weather could take up half a year by the end of this century. Changing spring unleashes a cascade of problems. What are they? What can be done about it? Palki Sharma tells you.

historical 1991-2020 climate data for patna shows april mean maximum as 37 degrees.
so i dont think spring was ever present in north india, its historically always transitioned to crazy summer after holi
the heat however might have been amplified due to concrete jungle creating urban heat island effect

Palki, thank you for so clearly covering this vital subject. We have gone crazy buying huge amounts of seed. fruit trees etc.
to ensure food security. But if we don't understand how to sow that seed in these new times/seasons that are already upon us, then horrific hunger has come.

I'm so often commenting on this. The seasons have definitely, visibly changed. Vegetables that we should have eaten in summer are only now, autumn, staring to flower and bear little buds and fruits. We all see/notice these changes but perhaps we are waiting for permission to think/talk about it? Some of my organic/heirloom seeds which did very well last year just did not germinate at all. The times for sowing seeds have changed too. Some full sun vegetables now prefer a cool/dappled area.

There used to be big 7 floors sized trees infront of my building in the neighbouring society. But those goons cut them down one by one giving stupid reason likes branches touch people's balconies 😢 I stormingly went into their society and asked them to show permission granted to cut those trees. They said they had full permission and would WhatsApp me the same. I blindly trusted them and after 7- -8 beautiful majestic trees were cut down after several days I could not sleep and constantly felt sorry for the fate of those trees. One day I got to know that the society was fined in lakhs for cutting those trees Illegally. Yes. They did everything illegally out of greed. And to get rid of a few branches they cut down the entire tree and sold off the wood to get few bucks 😢 such is the insatiable greed of humans they didn't even think how future generations would live without trees around them

We love ambitious people, and that's why we love capitalism. We desire exponential growth at any cost to ensure that share prices keep rising rapidly. So, we mine harder, produce more, and consume more than we actually need. A classic example is a person who travels first class versus a person who travels economy on a premium airline. The lounge food and drinks, the onboard food and drinks, and the insane amount of food that goes to waste.
We promote capitalism by continuing to invest in stock markets and therefore are part of self-induced climate change.

It's also part of cycle of Yuga ..
Where temperature raises for every 5-7 thousand years ..
    Nobody knows this part !
Just like we have seasons for every 3 months winter spring summer autumn for us to experience the extreme heat it takes every 1 year of time our whole galaxy is revolving around something we don't know which it takes every 5-7 thousand years to go to extreme heat conditions when the ice age is gone and when the sea level raises and this was the time 5 thousand years ago dwaraka submerged due to raise of sea level bcz of global warming! This when a new Yuga starts as per Hindhu Scripts !
So it's a cycle global warming was always there and it's just happening but with modern technology and advancement we are speeding things up quite quickly!
There a lot evidence that sea levels raises rapidly in certain time periods like 14 thousand years ago and 7 thousand years ago .
So just the seasons we have a big season comes every 5-7 thousand years which is extreme heat season and which causes melting the ice on earth and causes sea level raises !
Then the earth takes another few thousands of years to cool down and a new Yuga starts once again with the few people who left on earth on the higher altitudes !
Ancient Indians tried Yagna and yaagas to cool down the earths environment but they couldn't stop it bcz it's a cycle ...
It's just a season like summar but a big orbit which takes 7 thousand years to reach the galaxy's summar season

if we are truly concern about this disappearing spring, then we must support the peaceful climate protest from Ladakh and save the melting glaciers in the third pole. support the pashmina march on 7th April. let us safe this planet for our future generations and for us as well. save the pastureland of nomads and save fragile ecosystem of himalayas to save the plains and plateau down south and its habitats.. let us join hands for our future.

Whether you want to hear it or not, the data are clearly showing the massive warming. Here in Austria we have been experiencing 4.3°C above long term average (1961-1990) last winter, spring so far holds at 4.6°C. And this winter is no single exception. Snow is disappearing, my favourite skiing ressort has already closed and been dismantled a few years ago. It feels weird when you see the green-brown grassland in February exactly where you have been teaching skiing to your kids just 10 or 15 years ago.
I could also show you what has remained from one of the largest glaciers in Austria. The Pasterze glacier used to be so impressive, they built a road up there with a viewing spot in 1934. The entire valley below the viewing spot was filled with ice back then. I visited this place in 2020 and had to look twice to see the tiny remains of ice at the bottom of the valley.
But still I would agree with you in one respect: Fear does not help.
However, action does. Phase out coal, oil and gas, and instead invest in solar and wind, batteries and electric cars, public transport and electrification ...

@@nicksanger4084 I do not need to "believe" in climate change.
As I have studied science myself (master in Physics) I can understand the principal mechanism of the greenhouse effect and global warming.
And as pointed out above, global warming has reached a level where even a layman can see it. Temperatures and sea levels are increasing, glaciers are shrinking ...
And regarding "scientists who do not believe in climate change": I never came across a single expert in the field who would deny global warming or who could provide any good explanation for global warming except greenhouse gas emissions increase.
