  • How Are DINKS Winning The Economy? | Vantage with Palki Sharma
DINK is an acronym for households with double incomes and no kids.
They have become all the rage thanks to social media and the high cost-of-living across the world.
DINKs are winning the economy. Their savings and net worth is higher than that of other family types.
How is that? And are DINKs good for their countries?
    Palki Sharma tells you.

Over the years, the opinion I have formed on this topic is - Have children without having any expectation from your children. Have kids for the sheer joy of bringing a helpless life into this world and raising it into a good, productive citizen of the society. In other words, have kids just like having a pet dog - You enjoy being around your pet. But you don’t expect your pet to take care of you in your old age. Have children with the same mindset. Else, stay child free. You will be doing yourself, the unborn child and the world a great favour.

Its better to have no kids then to have and not care for them. Not just financially but also emotionally. Relationships are easy to make but hard to meet the other person's expectations, especially when it comes to children, whose entire identity starts with you. Its a lifetime commitment that sometimes even great parents can't manage. But if you are ready, sure have as many kids you want. Money will somehow find its way.

If you add all the children from 10 new couples ( married to 7-8 years) near any posh mohalla of any city you will never get the total of 21 kids ( ideal replacement ratio). It will be hardly around 15-16 kids.

In India people leave their parents at old age and don't want to take care of them. It happens in most of the cases and also they fight for their share in the property and pension as well but they cannot serve their old age parents or even take their health care. When their parents die they occupy the property and fight with the other siblings who have taken care at the end stage of their parents. So sometimes it feels that having no kids is a better choice.

It's parents choice to write will to give away their property to anywhere else.
Or use it up in their lifetime.
Second there is nothing wrong in better old age homes.
If you can't stay at home, nobody is there even to talk to older ppl, it's better they r in safe comfortable zone where they can live in independent space , talk to their age group..
In India , the privilege of taken care by kids is only for boys parents.
From 1000s of years , parents with only girls kids should be alone , and no one will take care of them.
Even daughters taking care of parents is done only in this generation, else that privilege is not fit them even in 80s 90s.
Nobody should expect that someone ll take care of them
They should take care of themselves.
It's again good to be old age homes than stay at confined spaces in cities within 4 walls, no one to talk, no body is at home, even if they fall, or any heart attack etc nobody will be around to take care of emergency situation..
If they r in old age homes these things are addressed and also they get to talk to their age people .

They really can't match today's kids level
Also sorry to say but our elders I don't generalize here have no value system.
Their apathy towards handicapped, racism , or even bitching relatives is not a great value system that kids should take from but unfortunately this is what they have to offer.
In front of kids they talk about somones disability, or talk saying someone is dark , short etc kind of words.

Govt must encourage people who are earning more than 15L per annum to have kids (Not to people who are simply in to child making business without contributing anything to the economy). Also, please talk about differences in expense categories for raising child. In India a middle income family would spend significantly bigger portion of their income on child's education (upt to the age of 18) due to preference of private schools over public schools.

You maintain roads well. We will ensure your quality governance. Citizen and government should have equal responsibilities.
Rich and poor are result of self management now. A rich can turn poor in 30 days..but a poor takes 30 yrs to be rich. So thats not government duty. Population decrease isn't necessarily a bad thing. There will be an excess of aging population at a particular point, but other than that, it's good if the overall global population decreases over the next century. 10 billion is like the maximum which this earth can handle, and if the population keeps increasing, we'll go from 8 billion to 10 billion very quickly. So people who don't wish to parent kids or are too poor to afford will be doing a favour by not reproducing.
