FZD generally has no weaknesses. The only tactics that have proven to work sometimes are: pinning him on the backhand and being more aggressive than him directly from the 3rd ball.

Weak to short balls on his forehand,predictable placements,weak to wide balls due to his short height and pot belly,average serving.There have been more complete players.

हां जी, सहि बात। Ma and Fan are truly of next level. But interestingly, there's recently a new player called Lin Shidong who I think beat also Fan before last year and this december unfortunately knocked out by Lin Gaoyuan from quarter-finale in Macao. I wonder his techniques forehand/backhand balanced looks even better than those of Ma and Fan. I couldn't believe that easily but it looks so. Physically, he looks almost like Fan but his forehand is like that of Ma and backhand even better than those of both Ma and Fan. And when switching the wings, he is even more agile than Ma and Fan. Definitely, Ma and Fan have more experience and stamina but this boy I doubt can be next greatest after Ma. He's so young, only 16. I think you may find him interesting too जी। You may watch him and write your thoughts to me in the reply. His name is Lin Shidong. You may type Lin Shidong Macao 2021. 🤗🙏

That's because NO ONE has a more spectacular backhand so most vids are focusing on that but really thanks to this compilation here. We now see how wonderful the forehand is, woah! The swift counter down the line really baffles the opponents (seen on WCQ and LGY's faces----"How could he do that!")

Can we say Fan has the best forehand and the best backhand in the world? The only player with the best of both in history.
Coincidentally among all TT players, he also happens to have the strongest legs and core strength that allow him to be so explosive hitting those ridiculous shots with consistency. Only in agility and experience Ma Long is above him.

Ma Long and Fan both have superb skills in both areas. The only difference between these two is Ma Long has been more consistent but Fan's caught up over the last few years. He's No. 1 now (ittf 3700 points in front of No. 2 Ma Long , March 2022).
