Great video. Just bought this exact same crank, the value for money is through the roof and the only trade-off is 241 grams. Not being able to replace the chainrings is not an issue, because the whole crank set costs less than a single GRX chainring (and you need two of those)
FYI - while the total width of 9, 10 and 11 speed chains is different, the internal width is exactly the same, so all 9, 10 and 11 speed crank-sets are compatible.

Do you reckon Mt210-2 is compatible with a 8s system? I'm thinking to convert my old 3x8 to a hallowtech 2x 🤔🤔🙏
@@Lyclah The cranks, almost certainly. 8s chains are wider than 9s though. If you have issues with the chain rubbing on the derailleur while shifting up or down the cassette, you could try a 9s chain, but those are narrower than 8s on the inside, so might not shift as well on the cassette.
For hassle free setup, I would recommend getting a friction shifter for the derailleur. I personally use Shimano TZ500 front shifter, it’s incredibly cheap (got mine for something like 5EUR) and has been working reliably for me for years. Since it’s not indexed, it allows micro-adjustment to avoid the aforementioned chain rubbing.
BTW, I’m not sure if it’s been clarified here, but these cranks require a compatible derailleur. FD-T3000 has been made specifically for these cranks. Different MTB derailleurs either won’t have the travel geometry or capacity to accommodate the large 16T jump between two gears (triple derailleurs may have the range, but across three chainrings instead of two)
Subscrubed. This is kind of real world examples I wanna see on CZcams not another aero bike comparison. This is very helpful. I run 36/26 and 11/42 2x10 with bar end shifters and that gives me amazing gear range at the same price as a GRX STI levers.

Thank you, and honestly I think this Acera will last longer due to steel chainrings (GRX has aluminium), if you keep the drivetrain clean and replace chain as should, it can do 20kkm without problems.

Hehe a ja ta acere wsadzam do xt 2/11. Razem z supportem 180zl. Jeszcze na glowe nie upadlem zeby przeplacac 4 krotnie za kompletny set korby by miec wszystko z tej samej serii.
Dokładnie. Korba przeznaczona do 9 śmiga i na 10 i na 11.

The MT210 is Alivio series as showned on the Shimano official website.
Please check bike.shimano.com/en-SG/product/component/acera-m3000/FC-MT210-2.html however current Shimano groups generations: Altus, Acera and Alivio are almost the same so it does not matter

W GRX po prostu płacisz podatek od nowości. Ja zostaję przy napędzie 2x9 tak długo jak kaseta 9cio rzędowa będzie kosztowała 1/3 dziesięciorzędowej. Alternatywą jest jeszcze korba FC-M3000-B2. Szerokość zębatek jest w każdym napędzie taka sama (oprócz narrow-wide) także łańcuch szerokość WEWNĘTRZNĄ mają taką samą, różnią się tylko szerokością zewnętrzną także spokojnie w napędzie np 2x10 możesz używać łańcucha 11to rzędowego, tylko odpowiednio skróconego.
Zgadza się i dzięki za wskazówkę co do korby - ma ona tylko mniejsze blaty (dla gravela przydałby się jednak duża zębatka ok 40-42 zęby), ale zawsze można je wymienić. Ja również lubię grupy 9 rzędowe, natomiast ich problem to brak sprzęgła. Shimano celowo zrobiło tak, że przerzutka ze sprzęgłem musi mieć indeksowanie Dyna-Sys, przez co nie jest kompatybilna z 9 rzędami. Mam w planie zrobić film o tym, jak można przerobić przerzutkę ze sprzęgłem, aby działała na 9 rzędach.
@@custombikefactory jtek shiftmate montujesz na lince i masz np Deore 10rzędowe w rowerze z 9cioma rzędami a co do korby, popatrz co Trek w tym roku z przodu wsadził do 520 Grando. Dodam, że ta korba w Polsce kosztuje ok 300PLN.

Chyba musimy się przyzwyczaić do tego, że producenci będą wrzucać coraz dziwniejsze kombinacje komponentów - również ze względu na problemy z dostępnością i ceną "normalnych" grup. To jest delikatna operacja i nie zawsze wychodzi tak jakbyśmy chcieli, przerzutka potrafi tracić na precyzyjności i zacząć się rozregulowywać w miarę używania :( te patenty z neta przerobiłem u siebie i nic lepszego niż rozwiązanie w stylu shiftmate (tanpan tez może być), czyli zmiana ciągu linki "na samej lince" nie znajdziesz. No chyba że kupno dwóch starych XTRów i przełożenie bebechów z jednego do drugiego.

The chainline difference of 5mm should not be a disadvantage. I consider a Cube Road SL as a gravel base which allow a longer seatpost and have a BSA68. Now with a 50mm tire the increased spacing of the MT-2102 help for the 2x chain clearance. Do you mount both in same frame?
You are right, bigger offset is good for 2x setup actually. I have used these cranks on diffrient bikes but with the Acera I managed to get a very nice chainline too and set it up with no problem - mix of grx, tiagra and this cheap crank, will post a video soon to show it. Good luck with your Cube, it is a good value for money frame!

As I understand, I can't use Mt210 with the RS500 BB right? Or are there spacer for RS500 available to fit it on RS500?
Technically the only difference between RS500 and BB52 is that the RS500 has narrower internal plastic sleeve, which is optional actually, but it provides additional protection from dirt and water coming from inside of BB. Both BBs have identical bearings so will fit, but it is recommended to use RS500 for road cranks because if you will put additional spacers , the plastic sleeve will be too short to secure BB from inside. Because MTB BB (BB52) is wider, there is no such problem and this is why or this crank MTB BB is better.

No protection in bb52. Killed mine just in 500km. There is some protection in bb9100 (road) and in similar BB level for MTB.

Looking at using this crank in a gravel build but 10mm spindle length difference is a lot. Surely the chainline will be a big problem?
This depends on the frame. If you have 73mm BB, than you will only have 5mm to deal with, which will not be a problem if you put 0 spacers from crank (to get good chainline) and 5mm on left side. Normal rider will never feel it and a pro rider will never go with such cheap components.
I am driving cycle of square bottom bracket with crankset of 42 34 24 t can I upgrade to Mt 210..... 40 32 22t this is the only available teeth ratio... Please share and help me how to upgrade my cycle???
Yes, there should be absolutely no problem with this upgrade - you will just need to change the BB to Hollowtech like MT500 and remove your old square tapered one.

Drivetrain:
Rear shifter: 9 speed Alivio
Rear RD: 9speed Alivio
Front shifter: 10 speed Tiagra 4700 (flatbar)
FD: 10 speed Tiagra 4700
Crank: 11 speed GRX600
My intention is to be able to use the GRX crankset 46t/30t on my hybrid roadbike. Unfortunately, mtb drivetrain does not offer this chainring ratio. There is an Acera MT-210 model for 9 speed (which could be the answer) with the same chainring ratio but it is almost impossible to get one. Please help. Thank you
Yes, this combination will work just fine. You will just need to play a bit with FD limit screews as the GRX crank chainrings will be 2.5mm further then normal road crank. MT210 crank would be optimal here, but I know it is not so widely available as OEM part.

Yes, MT210 crank is actually designed to work with MTB frames. BR500 is break caliper, I understand you mean MT500 BB - it will work with the crank no problems

It is really tricky to get a lot of components at the moment. Shimano priority are the biggest bike brands, not individual consumers unfortunatelly. Try ebay or ask in local bikeshop, sometimes they might overstock some items. Goodluck!

Is mt210 compatible with road bottom bracket like shimano bb-rs500?
You can technically fit it, but you would need to remove your BB and add additional spacers (minimum of 3x2.5mm). This will also expose the internal plastic sleve that protects the axle and inside of bearings from water. So it is possible, but I would advise to buy an MTB BB.

Tak, będzie współpracowała, trzeba tylko dobrze ustawić przerzutkę przednią (wychylić bardziej na zewnątrz za pomocą śrub limitujących).

Cześć, podzielę się małym update i pytaniem. Udało mi się wyrwać tą korbę w rozsądnej cenie, rower dałem do serwisu i przy przeglądzie zamontowali. Kręcili jedynie nosem, że musieli kombinować z podkładkami i regulacją przedniej przerzutki ale wszystko działa wzorowo. Z tego co pomierzyłem, to ramię od strony napędu jest bliżej około 5mm względem drugiej strony. Przy jeździe ponad 70km odczuwałem ostatnio delikatny ból w jednym z kolan i zastanawia mnie czy nie jest to spowodowane przesunięciem. Pytanie czy korba została zamontowana prawidłowo i takie przesunięcie to jedyne możliwe rozwiązanie montażu, a jeśli tak to czy regulacja bloków pedałów może pomóc? Chyba że widzisz inne rozwiązanie? Nie wykluczam, że ból może być spowodowany zupełnie czym innym ale nie daje mi to teraz spokoju ;)
@MrOgoor93 Dzięki za podzielenie się informacjami. Rzeczywiście, jeśli chodzi o montaż i regulacje, trzeba trochę więcej wysiłku bo oficjalnie nie są to komponenty kompatybilne wg. Shimano, ale dla dobrego mechanika nie stanowi to problemu. Jest to pewien kompromis za dużo niższą cenę. Co do większego przesunięcia korby to faktycznie tak jest - wskazałem to też w moim filmie. W moim przypadku przesunięcie było 2.5mm, ale wszystko zależy od ramy i linii łańcucha. Niemniej jednak, przesunięcie tego rzędu nie powinno mieć wpływu na kolano, chyba że masz jakąś dużą asymetrie w budowie ciała lub jakiś istotny uraz, ale skoro jeździsz dystanse 70km to nie sądzę że ma to znaczenie w Twoim przypadku. Sam jeżdżę na podobnym setupie bez żadnych problemów. O ból kolana raczej obwiniałbym zbyt wysoko ustawione siodełko. Ból mógł pojawić się też np. jeśli zmieniłeś długość korb - np. poprzednio miałeś 170 a teraz 175, albo wykonałeś jakąś modyfikację setupu roweru. Czasem też ciało jest osłabione lub przemęczone, problem jest jak występuje regularnie i powtarzalnie.
Jeśli chcesz skorygować powstałą asymetrię osadzenia korby, możesz dodać podkładkę dystansową na gwint pedała (np. 2mm). Dodatkowo przesuń bloki w butach nieco na bok (pamiętając żeby przesuwać odwrotnie na każdym z bloków co da kolejny 2x1mm). W ten sposób różnica będzie już pomijanie mała.
Dodatkowo dla lepszego komfortu zwiększ trochę luz w samym bloku - wtedy stopa naturalnie znajdzie sobie najwygodniejszą pozycję i przesuń blok maksymalnie do środka stopy - to da lepsze oparcie stopy, odciąży łydkę i w efekcie staw kolanowy.
the question is which FD can the mt201 use....?
All the MTB FDs - however if you want to use it with road shifters, you can use GRX FDs which will work just fine. Road FD will also work, but needs a bit more effort to adjust it.

Yes, this crank will be compatible with Claris RD and 8speed cassete.

Well, the short answer is yes, however depending on the BB width you have (in MTB typically it is 68 mm or 73 mm) you might have to assemble the crank without any spacers, which can give you non-optimal chainline. It will work, but will not be ideal (depends on the frame Q factor heavily).
Does anyone replace Sora crankset with this FC-MT210??
You can replace Sora or any other road crank with this one however depending on your frame, you can end up with a good or worse chain line. For wider MTB crank it would be also nice to replace the BB as, the road version has narrow plastic sleeve which protects the bearings from water and dirt inside the frame (actually you can keep original road BB and just replace the plastic sleeve that connects them).

The CUES crank will work with 9 speed chain, because the internal gap in the 9-11 speed chains are almost the same, it gets tighter from 12 speed, which will be problematic.

...a modo de comentario, el factor Q puede llegar a ser un problema sobre todo en las conversiones de bicicletas MTB o híbridas.

Yes, it is, however, the Q factor is approx 3mm smaller so it depends on your frame. You will most likely need to fit it without the bottom bracket spacers - the spindle is bit shorter too comparing to MTB crank.
most probably it will colide with rear chainstays :(
