“I Hate That Beach”: Eli Alger &The Faster Horses Original
Before I begin, once again, I must recommend you guys listen to this on solid headphones or in the car, the bass and drums just don’t come through the same without it.
In truth, I did not write this song.
This song was written by one of my very first musical inspirations, a Mr. Bradley Gaskin. Who you may remember for his smash hit “Mr. Bartender” that was all over country radio for a while.
There was a stint of time where Bradley was uploading CZcams videos of just himself and his guitar, in some bar, playing cover songs or tunes he had written.. AND THEY WERE FANTASTIC.
I remember my old man and I jamming out to his version of “Tennessee Whiskey”, which in contrary to popular belief, is the best Rendition of the song to date (in my opinion).
Bradley had posted this here song, a grainy acoustic number, called “I hate that beach”, and I just loved it from the gitgo, not truly understanding it’s meaning and satire until later in life. I must have been in middle school.
This was one of the first songs I’d ever picked up on the guitar, and I waited patiently for the man himself to kick this one out professionally with all the bells and whistles… it never came.
It wasn’t until recently that I had decided enough was enough, and if Bradley wasn’t gonna start playing it out, someone had to. So I volunteered as tribute
As a matter of fact, I’m not quite sure what the whereabouts of Bradley Gaskin even are these days. I haven’t been able to find him anywhere on Facebook or any sort of social media. I did see that he dropped some new music a few months back, but not much more. Glad he’s still at it though.
Wherever you are Mr. Gaskin, i hope you have not left us, I hope you find this tune well, and I hope you feel that we did it justice.
