It has been a slow, gradual burn, but Matthias Schoenaerts has become my favourite actor - I saw him for the first time as Gabriel Oak in "Far from the Madding Crowd". When a genius like Thomas Vinterberg decides to make an adaptation of one of Thomas Hardy's classic novels; this will make people sit up and take notice! Vinterberg's choice of actors for his ensemble was ideal, along with cinematography which paints perfection in landscape of Hardy's imagined Wessex, it was beyond magical! Tonight I watched "Rust and Bone" starring Matthias and Marion Cottilard - and they took my breath away! This is the sixth film I have witnessed his range in an array of films with a choice group of Director's and actors who, together shine a light one each other's rare gift! Such an amazing range of emotions, he is so manly and yet tender! I have to acknowledge that in every interview he is himself; it's his intelligence, openess, friendliness that radiates and resonates throughout his exchange of ideas. Most of all, hearing him articulate his perception of character and films he has chosen to be in...WOW! Talented, multi-lingua. playful, humble and ready! (Keeping in mind English is not his first language!) Wonderful and sexy too!
