I really need to share a wild discovery I had recently regarding what kind gaming content you do and how you choose to do it. I watch a lot of Pokemon challenges (nuzlockes, soul links, etc) and happened to find a channel called Vintendo that turned out to solely focus on "And Then We Battle" types of Pokemon videos (e.g. "we choose our Pokemon based on their reversed cry" or "based on bad descriptions" and then they build the Pokemons stats/movesets/items, either randomize/choose/keep the ability depending on the gimmick, then battle). This channel was barely a year old but had been churning out regular content of _just_ this very niche genre of Pokemon battles with a rotating cast of guests...and had nearly 2 million subs. Low and behold, it's a SECOND CHANNEL by a guy whose been on youtube for ten years! Original151 is his first channel, where he has a sizeable following of like 500k, and he's been streaming everyday for FIVE YEARS STRAIGHT on twitch!! April 1st is his subathon where, at the end, that five year streak will finally end so he can have a more flexible schedule. His editing fucking slaps, he has fantastic energy with all his guests (likely because they're all friends), he's popping off in the algorithm and knows how to take advantage of it without it interfering with his life (wife and dog btw lol)...and he's an Italian-American with magnificent facial hair who looks and sounds _just_ enough like DSP for it to be a little surreal to watch him. 😂 Dude's the alternative universe version of DSP I stg and I laughed so hard thinking about DSP's precious 15 years of variety content on youtube when this guy rocketed to fame doing pretty much only Pokemon content since he started LMAO. P.S. I caught a stream of his where he was multistreaming on both channels, the new one vertically in shorts to reach the most people and the old one horizontally as a normal livestream so people had incentive to go there. Dude had over 1k views combined and was working back towards 1k memberships, I believe that was also total. REALLY put into perspective what DSP should be getting in memberships when correctly ratioed to views and WITHOUT the whales. 😂
