- Dr. Abigail Baird of Vassar College talks about communication between the amygdala and the frontal lobe during her lecture "The Neuroscience of the Teen Brain" for the Mind Science Foundation.
she is a natural
Common mistake: Not editing the video to include the presentation slide we are supposed to be seeing.
A video recording is not the end product. A video should be 'produced', that includes a couple of minutes editing.
Videos that do this on youtube are so disappointing and frustrating. The talk is good, but it would help SO much to just see the slide.
Hi Abigail, you are an absolute sensation!!! I'd kill a scary blue square to get the powerpoint that you were using at the time. :) I'm making a presentation on Autism and Anxiety soon and your clip is just brilliant for explaining the amygdala to prefrontal cortex. Thank you. Your humour is just so gorgeous. I feel so happy after watching that!!
Abigail, you are great! Thanks for the fun.
Cute spirit she has. Easy to listen and understand 😊
talk like Yoda you do
It makes me realize how we are being affected, often without even realizing... by what we hear and see (especially from so called reliable, trusted sources) we are being kind of force fed all kinds of scarey information by the media on a daily basis....that's unless we don't choose to automatically believe everything we see and hear ....thank you for this great info. I wouldn't mind having KISS in my kitchen....especially if they cooked breakfast. 😊
Excellent talk! Love your use of KISS and the blue square. Simple, down-to-earth but not dumbed down. THIS is how science explanation should be done. From one sck talker to another Bravo!
That was very enjoyable and memorable. Thank you for the lesson! :)
I am enjoying your content alot!
So informative and funny, thank you!
Fascinating. Thank you for sharing. We interact with the environment based on ideas and stories. Our evolutionary strategy seems to me to be based on adaptability in information sharing. The cells organize and want to stay structurally intact and develop strategies to keep their structural integrity based on how they can understand the environment. One strategy is to have an imagination that can come up with anything and decide how real to make that thing. This then influences how that organization of cells organizes :-)
So check in with how you’re feeling. Imagine what it would feel like to be relaxed, calm, and grateful for your dear body and environment. For the present moment. What information is here now that’s most helpful to you? How is it to sense yourself compassionately?
Thank you. I loved it! Are there exercises to improve the communication between your Amygdala and your ACC?
THANKS
You don’t fight them you just walk straight through ignoring the crap.
I have no fight or flight reaction and feel no fear?
Would like to see the screen you are pointing at.
She’s hilarious 😆
Would you say it's like getting into a bar fight? The 1st time you get into one, your just reacting by punching to defend yourself not even realizing you even threw a punch after going thru 20 baf fights, you remember everything even punching a guy while your holding a drink then handing it to your friend so you can adjust your loosened watch while you punch with the other hand
that's why threatening works
With this new knowledge in entered my ALFA state of being and found my wallet that i had lost yesterday and found it.😂😂😂
That is why we need good nutrition
4:31 We don't see.
The word is 'shaken,' not 'shooken.'
Hmmm is this why after an amygdala ablation I'm ready to kill? My anger is rage like... awful!!

I don’t trust anyone.
Can't relate to anything with KISS. The little I know about them is too much.
As for Gene Simmons, I have no respect for him and consider him swine.
