Wow. Haven't seen this in years. I directed this very early on in my career - using all my friends in the video (the little kid is the brother of one of my best friends, and the girl was a very good friend of mine). And the band were the best guys to work with ever. Fun days.
One of the long-forgotten and never-to-be-reissued but brilliant albums. This particular song's vibe reminds me more-than-mellow Happy Mondays, but all other songs from the album are not like that. Candy Flip was unique. Where did they go?
Habe nach ca. 30 Jahren die CD "MADSTOCK" gekauft, die Singles CD habe ich schon. Die Jungs wurden schon damals völlig unterschätzt. Ich finde ihre Musik absolut kultig.
Translation: _I bought the CD "MADSTOCK" after about 30 years, I already have the Singles CD. The boys were completely underestimated even then. I find their music absolutely iconic._

Sounds much more like Soup Dragons to me. The Mondays didn't tend to make blissful music, contrary to their name, and popular belief. They actually had a penchant for minor keys, and very weird, somewhat dark, subject matters (fueled no doubt by drug addiction issues). That one happy-sounding party hit, 'Step On', notwithstanding!
The bird ("chick"for my fellow Americans) in this video can get all the space (in my bedroom and on my kitchen table she wants)...Yep, when this video came out she was a TILF (TEEN I WOULD LIKE TO...GET BETTER ACQUAINTED WITH)....TODAY, SHE might be a GILF, but like Billy Joel says, "She's always a woman to me...)

if you think Madstock was good you should of heard what the ureleased second album was like!!! Pure...Devils Gold...Treetops all amazing tunes...shame Ric left to form his own production company!!
@jademonolith Music influences other music, maybe you've noticed. This is way more electronic/synth and unabashedly pop than the Roses were, in any case.
i can assure you danny is not gay hahahaha admittedly looks it though on here....i am lucky enough to spend quality partyin time with these guys who are still very active and successful......they currently have wonk nights in Stafford of staffordshire midlands! one on 25th june for like minded folk danny & kelv (brothers) are soul mekanik and salt of the earth peeps...check it out....planet wonk on facebook xx

there were a bunch of bands then all influencing each other then. candyflip, stone roses, blur, the charlatans. it also reminds me a little of the soup dragons too.

there were a bunch of bands then all influencing each other then. candyflip, stone roses, blur, the charlatans. it also reminds me a little of the soup dragons too.
I think this song sounds waaay more Soup Dragons than Stone Roses. Definitely early Charlatans and _very_ early Blur had the same style.
