    Hi Kirsty! I have been really interested in realism with color pencils for a long time, and your videos are inspiring me to go on. My watch later list on youtube is filled with over a 100 different tutorials from your channel! I am only 10 years old and already my drawings look amazing because of you. I have already done a portrait, lots of fruits and now I am learning the basics of watercolor and starting a realistic eye drawing. Thank you! :)

    Unrelated but here is my story💛💛 I am here to learn about coloured pencils, a medium that i hate and love at the same time. I prefer graphite over coloured pencils because graphite drawings only require tone transitions while coloured pencils has a quite new skill, which is blending. Blending colored pencil is not the same as blending graphite. That is why I draw portraits with graphite. This year, i planned to draw 4 of my closest friends for their birthday, i have done 2 of them though and i am happy to see their smiles. But one of them is like ughh so special in my heart🥺🥺 Last september was a stressful month and- that guy comforted me a lot, he gave me warmth and affection, I leaned at his shoulder, thinking that life is actually fine and suicide is not the answer. So here I am, watching videos on this channel, learning how to draw portraits with colored pencils, a medium that i am not familiar with yet. I want to master the skills of drawing portraits with this medium, so that I can give my first ever colored pencil portrait, to him just so he knows how much he worth in my life🥰
    Also, if you are interested to see my drawings, my ig is @addibbo

    Thank you Kirsty for this incredibly helpful video!! It's so interesting to know, that the pastel also can be erased. One last question for me would be: are there any possibilities to use a blending fluid on it, because of the pastels or is it only possible to blend the coloured pencils together by burnishing 🤔

      @FineArtforChrist Před 3 lety +1

      You can use solvent with this method, but you have to add a layer of fixative to the pastel before adding the colored pencil. That way your colored pencils are activated by the solvent but your pan pastel layer isn't.
      Hope this is helpful!

    Great ma'am.. Love from 🇮🇳India..... I just wanna know that can we use ivory paper for pencil colour drawings or can u suggest any other type of paper which is little cheap

    • @FineArtforChrist
      @FineArtforChrist Před 3 lety +1

      I've done this method on all kinds of paper, from printer paper to pastelmat and it works about the same for all of them. You should keep in mind however that by using a paper other than pastelmat you are limited to only a couple of layers. I only recommend it for underpaintings unless you know how to re-establish the tooth of the paper!
      I hope this is helpful!

    Hello Kirsty, Thank you so much for this video ❤. Can you please do a video about types of color pencils and some cheap brands? Which one is best oil based or wax based? Your tips are helped me a lot to improve my drawings. Thank you so much😍😍

      I started with the Faber Castel Children's grade colored pencils. These are great to start with since all the colors line up with their more expensive alternatives making it easy to transition to the more expensive when you can afford it. These are great for practice however if you want to avoid having your colors fading in the future you need to find something lightfast. Unfortunately there is no such thing as cheap lightfast pencil, you get what you pay for!
      I hope this is helpful!
