  • For The French Dispatch premiere at the 59th NYFF, director Wes Anderson, producer Jeremy Dawson, and cast members Adrien Brody, Bill Murray, Steve Park, and Jason Schwartzman Zoomed in from Spain, and cast members Anjelica Fellini, Lois Smith, Bob Balaban, Léa Seydoux, and Jeffrey Wright joined in person from New York. The French Dispatch is a selection in the Spotlight section of this year’s festival.
    Wes Anderson’s unmistakable cinematic style proves delightfully suited to periodical format in this missive from the eponymous expatriate journal. Brought to press by a corps of idiosyncratic correspondents, the issue includes reports on a criminal artist and his prison guard muse, student revolutionaries, and a memorable dinner with a police commissioner and his personal chef. As brimming with finely tuned texture as a juicy issue of a certain New York-based magazine to which the film pays homage, The French Dispatch features precision work from a full masthead of collaborators (including Bill Murray, Timothée Chalamet, Tilda Swinton, Benicio del Toro, Frances McDormand, and Jeffrey Wright), each propagating inventive dedication to detail. A Searchlight Pictures release.

    Wait, he’s already shooting another movie? Just watched the French dispatch and as masterfully exhaustive as it was, I’m flabbergasted as to how Wes (and team) could summon up the creative tank again to have written and already start shooting another film, that’s truly prolific!

      You thought it was "exhaustive"?

      @KushagraaDubeyy Před 2 lety +1

      @@danwroy every frame of every sequence was filled with so much info and nuance as is signature to Wes’s style and there were a total of 4-5 sequences if I’m not wrong, one has to feel exhaustive if one is actually involved in seeing the film and not just watching it in an absentminded way.

      Since The French Dispatch got delayed due to obvious reasons it was a long time ago that it was finished. If you consider the year or so it takes for post production the shoot was a very long time ago.

    Wes is the best director to ever walk this earth. Pure genius. All the tiny details, colours, superb acting, plot, camera angles, and who doesn't love Monsieur Gustave?!? To me, it's a sublime experience every time. Can't wait for the Asteroid City. Absolutely adore his actors.

    Wes needs to frame his Zoom camera a little to the right to get those picture frames symmetrical.

    I'm french and many french actors he chosed are young french actors that made films that were successful in France less than 2 years ago. He hired an actor from a TV series that is popular in France. ( Scenes de Ménages ) Wes knows classic French movies very well, but he likes modern french movies as well. He is a mix of a New Yorker and a Parisien, no wonder he is the best director of this century. I wonder if he met Jean-Pierre Jeunet, because his looks like he was inspired by him.

    When the camera cuts to the full shoot with the panel interviewers and the projection screen is in frame, they all actually look like Wes Anderson miniatures🤣

    If you wondering why actors are getting clueless about the film is, they waited two years for it to be released and alot of things happened in 2020. Covid and all that.

    I've always liked Jeffrey Writes work. Great voice. But, I became a huge fan of his from the French Dispatch. So expressive non verbally. Very believably character. He's an actual actor.
