the point of Pokémon is to appeal to the widest audience possible and that there’s something for everyone from mainline to the anime to the spin offs

You have to remember pokemon games have only been 3D since 2013 that’s pretty recent compared to other games like Zelda that have been 3D since the 90s and early 2000s so obviously they’re gonna be behind Mixed with the fact that They can’t delay the game because main console for only 5 years compared to Zelda since n64

I would like everyone here to know that on the Japanese website for the game's announcement, the mention of the game being **only** Lumiose city is not set in stone. I've been studying japanese for a few years, so the description is lit. "The setting of this story is Lumiose, where this new adventure begins." The use of the word begins could imply its not **just** Lumiose, but we will have to wait and see.
If it is in fact only Lumiose, I'm a bit worried about how we're even going to catch pokemon in the first place. I'm thinking that the trailer is just providing a concept for the game, and we'll see Lumiose develop to have habitats for pokemon to live in, where we can catch them. The map provided at the end seems to show open areas, but we will have to wait to see what the actual gameplay will be like. I have my hopes up as a kalos baby, but knowing GF's track record I'm ready to face disappointment as usual
lumiose city hub world, each gate is a portal to an instance to catch pokemon in a random field/cave. more DLC adding more gates to different instances. YOU'RE LIVIN IN A DREAM WORLD :D

I wouldn't mind one city if they make it like one giant map like Cyberpunk 2077.
To put it simply, It’s a functional impossibility that the game will *only* be in the city. First: We don’t know how big “Old Lumiose” is. Second, and more importantly: There are Four Critical areas that are Mandatory for any redevelopment of the city to be possible and successful, which are all outside the “established” bounds of the city in the four cardinal directions.
West: Royalty. In the era it’s likely set in, permission from royals would be required to anything that may impact their property. The owner of the mansion is of higher class than the locals, and so it stands to reason that his ancestors would be more stereotypically “Royal” and need sufficient convincing that the redevelopment is in their best interests.
South: A massive war memorial. Adequate care and consulting would be needed to avoid building over the graves of the fallen without causing controversy or triggering massive public outcry.
East: The Power Plant. Perhaps the single most important location to visit because it’s absolutely vital that the Plant is capable of sufficiently powering all electrical devices of any kind in the revamped Lumiose City, lest the city be plagued by frequent blackouts.
North: The Regions Pokeball factory. Critical to ensuring various Pokemon-related enterprises are even possible. Catching, training, heck the whole idea of Furfrou styling relies on a reliable supply of Pokemon related items, including Pokeballs.
Without all four of these, the city would fail to be allowed to be redeveloped legally, enrage the common people by trivializing the deaths of those who died in a war, would constantly have power struggles, if they could power the city at all, and would lack the necessary tools to create Pokemon-oriented enterprises.
Lumiose has several gates leading to areas, they will probably use that to catch Pokemon. But I think they may include other cities for their importance to the story. That city with the big Pink Crystal may be in the game for plot reasons. But who knows, maybe it’s just Lumiose
As a gen 5 fan I'm happy my prayers have been answered and we're not getting a gen 5 remake right now. I'm also glad we're finally getting pokémon Z somehow

as a gen 6 fan, i was hoping they would leave kalos alone and do a gen 5 remake. i didn't play gen 5
remember pokemon remakes are actually great until BDSP, didn't bother to play legend: arceus as well. As a gen 4 fans I am losing faith on every gamefreak decisions, it just feels like gamefreak will screw things up inevitably
Sinnoh is one of my least favorite regions (only third worst behind Kalos and Galar) and even I was pissed off at how DIRTY they did Sinnoh fans with those abominations for "remakes" (and no, Legends Arceus doesn't "make up for it," cause like all the other Switch titles, that game actually sucks.) Having two half-assed games doesn't beat having one really great game, and I wouldn't even call BDSP good enough to be "half-assed."
So yeah, seeing them skip Unova entirely seems like the best thing, cause you know they'd f**k it up.

I strongly disagree. The only good remakes they've ever done was HGSS and even those were plagued with issues and things they never bothered to fix (while adding new problems, like no Game Corner and a broken PC System.) Most of the mainline games were good up until X & Y, but the only good remakes were HGSS, despite Pokemon fans liking a lot of trash like ORAS, Gen 8, LGP&E, etc.
The real question is, will FLYGON get a Mega?
Gamefreak needs to be disappointing, so theres no way they would. Or if they do the design is going to suck.

Two thoughts:
1. Lumiose is based on paris, and the renovation of paris happened within a similar time-frame as the meiji reconstruction (when legends arceus takes place).
2. If this is a dual switch & switch 2 release, the title could be reflective of that:
Pokemon legends Z (the end of the alphabet & the end of switch pokemon titles)
Pokemon legends A (the beginning of the alphabet & the beginning of switch 2 pokemon titles).
This is in addition to the zygarde & AZ stuff that's obvious.
Yes. People are getting ahead of themselves when they think it's going to take place in the future. The "redevelopment plans" are to make Lumiose as it is in X and Y.
@@SogonD.Zunatsu don't get me wrong, it still COULD be a past & future game to tie more directly into scarlet & violet's themes, but basically everything we've seen *so far* indicates that it's a past game specifically. Even the tron-like trailer could just be a stylized version of city blueprints.

I'm cautiously optimistic since at least this game is coming out next year rather than this year. InB4 it comes out in January like PLA.

I don't see any reason to be optimistic. I'm willing to wait to see if they change their approach to game design, but there is zero reason to presume that will be the case.
It’ll definitely come out in January not holiday 2025, they need a big announcement for Pokémon day in February and it’s time for gen 10 in 2025

@@user-ye2gv1xy9qWhen Legends Arceus was announced, we had real gameplay and they clearly said at the end "early 2022". This time we don't have a single ingame image and they only said "2025". If you think it's coming out in early 2025 you are quite wrong.
It makes the most sense and Gen 6 deserves the biggest glow up, plus its lore based in ancient history works well for a Legends game
- Galar is based on Great Britain (England, Wales)
- Crown Tundra is based on Scotland
- Isle of Armor is based on Isle of Man
- Paldea is based on the Iberian peninsula (Spain, Portugal, Andorra)
- Kalos is based on France
Those countries are all connected (including the Channel Tunnel).
I would pay $200 for a Pokemon game that combined the Galar, Paldea, and Kalos regions into ONE open world game.
That might be my dream game.

@@BunchaNothin Or they're just alternating. I wouldn't be surprised if the team behind this game is gonna be working on the BW remakes once they're done here and the "main" team finished with gen 10 and moved on to a next project (possible gen 11).
Personally I'd rather just have one team and wait longer for games if it means higher quality experiences though.

Man idk how I feel about this: on one hand, I'm glad that Kalos is getting some love but I'm afraid that this game is going to be rushed like the last few releases. Apparently I'm an idiot for wanting them to focus on quality and take some more time to develop.

I didn't expect this at all. I'm happy kalos is been given some much needed attention. I know that there was a lot of people thinking that gen 5 was getting a remake but I just didn't see it. I remember back in gen 7 when people were thinking we were getting gen 4 remakes (though maybe not to the same extent). Excluding the gen 1 remakes they don't usually do remakes in back to back gens.
Gen 2 remakes in gen 4, gen 3 remakes in gen 6 and gen 4 remakes in gen 8. Since it looks like they're going to continue with this pattern gen 5 remakes might come in gen 10.

Pokemon fans who somehow think we aren't getting gen 5 remakes are both impatient and the most brain rotted people in existence. The every remake aside from FRLG has come on an even numbered generation. The remakes ARE NOT EVERY GENERATION. It was never gonna be gen 9. You've been bamboozled.
Unlike all the idiots on social media who are currently creaming their pants over the mere announcement, I'm going to wait until we see GAMEPLAY of Legends: ZA before I start getting anything close to 'excited' for it.
Also, I swear to God (Arceus?) that if the eventual gameplay reveal looks like a glorified beta build and all the online white knights cling to the 'Game Footage Not Final' tag at the bottom of the screen as an excuse to defend the game, only for the final product to show that the early footage was INDEED final, I'm going to have an aneurism.

I guess XY won't get a remake. I guess it's for the best anyway as they likely would have gone with the way BDSP instead of ORAS.
Same with Generation 5 Black and White.
It's still possible they could have a gen 5 remake in the works. Their teams for legends is different than the mainline games, and they used an outside developer for BDSP. So they could get another company to do the Gen 5 remakes the same way.

XY will get a remake in a few years: when we get to the games that were on the Nintendo 3DS, it'll be easier to port assets over as scaffolding

I really just want it to be a good, solid game. I like Kalos and I like the concept of bringing it all together for Gen 6. I also like that they are taking more time with these projects.
Does that mean it will necessarily be better? No. But it’s about probability. The chances of it being more fully cooked and ready to go is higher. Let’s see what they do with a game that they have more time to work on
Honestly i genuinely hope that ZA ends up being good and leads to better games as a poetic way of kalos being the prelude to the era of mediocrity (even though its not gen 6s fault that it got shafted because gen 7 aka the gen that truly started the era of mediocrity being rushed out for the anniversary) ultimately ending the era of mediocrity.
I doubt it will happen due to the nature of how Pokémon is managed but a guy can dream

I think that we’re going to have this game start in the future and you will have the ability to travel back and forth in time. I think that way the title is shown ‘Z-A’ is somehow symbolic of that.

just glad the unova regions fans are just now finding out how orre region fans have felt since 2021.
the cosntruction crew/team is called Quasar. and the scene where you see a gyarados in the river, you see a trainer's Absol run past...kinda forboding considering the pokemon itself. the space-themed name either leans towards team galactic, or possibly Macro Cosmos. that company already has their fingers in a bunch of other things like television, electricity, frieght and transportation within galar. so i wouldnt be surprised if they'd branch into surveys/builders with a shell company in kalos.

I assume it's meant to be "Pokemon Legends: Z to A". Which would make sense if they take a character from the future and drop them in the past like they did in PLA. Basically Z to A, end to beginning, future to past.
Hopefully after this game and after the unova remake we get actual xy remakes.

This entire console generation, I've skipped Pokémon. This is the one that might actually get me to buy again.
Clearly, we won't know anything until GameFreak starts releasing footage a few months from now, but I think the game will take place in the past. I don't see a "Legends" game taking place in modern-day or future time. This game may take place in the 1850s because there is a historical precedent. Paris, Lumiose's influence, did go through its own "urban redevelopment" around that time. A gentleman named Baron Haussmann was commissioned by Napoleon III to redesign the city to give a more "modern" feel, and Haussmann's design still exist in the layout of Paris(especially central Paris) to this very day. Not only that, but his design served as a template for other European cities to use when through their own modernizations. I'm actually intrigued by what we've seen and I may be down to play a new mainline Pokemon game for the first time since USUM.
I will only buy it if they bring back all of the Pokémon and fix the galar fossils

I'm going to be real. I've haven't enjoyed a Pokemon game since the original Sun and Moon. Sword and Shield/ BDSP killed my hype for any Pokemon game going forward. I'll wait and watch videos before i buy it lol

Same here. There is no reason to think this is going to be a good game. Im willing to wait and watch until Gamefreak decides to make a decent game, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

Honestly as someone who loves Johto, I feel like Kalos was more deserving of being redone over getting a new Johto or Unova game
I never played XY, but honestly I'm very excited for this new game and I want to try this out
I always wanted the next Pokémon game to be something related to Kalos. Because I always wanted to see Kalos live its true potential after only appearing in X&Y and disappearing for an entire decade. Never cared about anything else because Kalos has been the best region to not live up to its fullest potential.
I don’t think the gen 5 remakes got skipped, personally, and I’m a HUGE gen 5 fanboy. Gen 2 remakes came out in gen 4, gen 3 remakes came out in gen 6, gen 4 remakes came out in gen 8, it makes sense that the gen 5 remakes will come out in gen 10… plus, based on the two legends games we’ve seen so far, they don’t seem to be remakes, more so reimaginings and different stories loosely based on the original gen, plus there is no apparent order with gen 4 getting a legends game first, and now gen 6

I'm more happy at the fact they're not releasing anything major this year than anything. Even if I was still holding on to some hope for they to add some sort of battle facility to SV, but hopefully this is a sign of the Pokemon Company no longer rushing their games.

You can't say we're back when you only measure it on hype. And it IS just based on hype if we haven't seen anything about it yet. What we have seen is not even confirmable as something we would see or experience in the game. So no, we are not "back."

The reason why they couldn't optimise cities is because the games were rushed.
This is coming out in 2025 (I hope not early 2025), so they'll have time to actually optimise the city.
I think by set within the city they mean that Luminose will be the main base similar to Jubilife in PLA. I think it would be impossible to do a legends games without other wild areas where you can catch Pokémon
It can be possible it's not gonna be catching focused on and more mission focused where maybe you recruit Pokemon than catching them.

I don’t understand getting excited that it’s coming out next year. They showed no gameplay at all so it’s probably not far in development if they don’t even have a vertical slice to show. Just because it’s coming out in 2025 doesn’t mean it will have enough time, so I’m very skeptical about it.

Kalos absolutely deserves this game.
The game might get me back into Nintendo and Pokémon. I'd definitely get the next Nintendo console assuming the Pokémon game is gonna be good. But I'm not hyped at all and very cautious.

I was looking forward to there being some time between the current releases and the potential Kalos remakes or any games involving Kalos since I thought they would tackle Unova first, because I was worried about the quality of games involving my favorite region. So now I'm conflicted lol
I'm excited because XY have been my favorite games out of all the Pokemon games I've played, with SV having my favorite story, but afraid for the quality at the same time iwi

I don’t know how I feel yet, I have so many questions but everyone I think about those questions, I get excited but I also get worried. I’m mainly worried about 2 things. One, we really not getting anything this year?! And two, if it’s only based in lumiose city, will it feel too much like a GTA type game? Like how will there be wild encounters, how will zygarde and mega evolution play into the story of we’re are just helping around a town.

to this I say maybe.... Depends on what the gameplay looks like. It is definitely interesting in a good way though. Megas and the gap year do definitely mean that there is potential these games will finally redeem switch mainseries pokemon.
