I love how you narrate EVERYTHING, not assuming someone knows the hotkey or whatever.
this is not at all meant to be negative. im 54 and not too smart. i love how u make these videos easier for dummies like me. following your channel i can now move to reaper and actually like it !!! and the drum editinig course is awesome !! thanks myk for all you do
I like these "looking over your shoulder" videos. Exactly how I love to learn.
Yes, please show us the rest - gain staging, rough mixing etc.!
Just discovered your channel and although I've already watched a lot of videos from John, Adam and Kenny, it's always cool to see another way of doing the same things.
Like the script to create a folder for the selected tracks. It's awesome
Definitely interested in your gain staging process! Love how you organize your stuff - very close to how I like my stuff grouped.
Thank you! Let's just hope my mix doesn't sound terrible when this is all said and done ;)
Really clear and succinct explanations. Subscribed! Hope more people will get to know about your channel!
Great video, well done. Please keep them coming, you are really good at teaching!
“Looks like those are screams as well”
Awesome series idea!
Thanks!
Great stuff … thank you…. It’s gonna be a great series
Thank you for this video!
Great! Basically I'm doing the same - but from experts like you I learn some new tricks for beeing faster and more efficienct!
Thanks very much and keep going! Best regards, Stefan
Experts 🤣
Thank you 😁
Great video, thank you so much. I’d love to see an in depth tutorial on takes/comping in reaper! I’ve never found a good takes workflow due to the autosplit thing when you have different record punch in/out points.
I’m sure it’s posted somewhere, but I’m curious as to your theme. I dig it. Thx

Great Tutorial! Cheers from Poland :)
And that's a subscribe. Loved this video, your presentation and demeanor makes it very easy to follow along and learn your process.
Thanks for the sub and the kind words!
I arrange my tracks in a similar manner to you.
But I like to have the bass track(s) and kick track(s) next to each other so it is easier to see that they are in sync.
Wonderful tutorial, thank you
i really love your workflow and the way that you explain every step you make. Great video
Thank you!
Just transitioning from protools...and this is AMAXINLY helpful. Thanks my friend
thank YOU for checking out the channel! Join us on Discord if you need any assistance, there are many folks in there who are well versed in both ProTools and REAPER and can help ease the transition for you.
@@LetsTalkAboutReaper thanks brother. Just subscribed to your channel. I really appreciate you providing further directions :)
Three things, Myk : thank you, thank you, and thank you.
thank you for such a video to help ppl like me that just wanna get into mixing....
Really love these videos. Very helpful and not laboured. I've been using Reaper for years and I didn't know about dragging the track slightly right to put it inside a folder!! How embarrassing!
Great Tutorials.
thank you!
Myk you are my hero, I knew there had to be an easier way to import multi tracks. Thank you so very much for your content. Mix life changing stuff here!!
Glad to be of assistance and thank you for the coffee ☕ 🥰
Hey Myk if you have time could you post the link on how to get and load the SWS extension and to7 zip?
Thanks
@@battmanvonrichtoven 7zip is available here

and here's a video on installing SWS Extension

Hope this helps!
Thank you very much I’ve learned a ton I. The last few days.
I would love to see a video of you mixing this song :)
Nice organization skills
Nice organization... very well done.. < J
Hey, I loved the video, however I am confused between the Volume (Pre-FX)" knob and the "Volume (Item)" knob. Which one of the two is used to do gain staging or considered as the gain knob on reaper?
You could use either or both. Volume pre-fx would give you an envelope to be able to vary the item volume over time, whereas the knob is a fixed setting for the entire clip/item.
@@LetsTalkAboutReaper Thank you so much, this means a lot to me!
So far great tutorial! I down loaded sws but I don't have "create folder to contain selected tracks". I think I have a newer version then you did in this video. So with that being said what should I select in the actions list? Thanks!
Make folder from selected tracks is what I think I should use.
@@fpvtv2222 make folder to contain selected tracks is a different script that I got from reapack. I think I may have made a separate video for that script, I will take a look and see if I can locate the origin and get back with you
@@LetsTalkAboutReaper Ok cool. I think I have repack installed. Not sure why it wouldn't come up in the actions tab
@@fpvtv2222 it won't show up in the actions yet, you have to install the script from ReaPack.
This should help
czcams.com/video/X8jZh7WyloM/video.html
I like this action better because it creates the top level folder. The native script you were using makes the first folder in the selection into the folder.
It'll make sense when you see the video, just feels a bit more elegant and optimized to me
@@LetsTalkAboutReaper Thanks I got it! Thanks so much for your help.
I am hoping that you show how you perform your gain staging. Thanks
That's next on the agenda, either this coming week or possibly the next, depending on work, etc
Love the video. Quick question regarding folders vs buses. I like the ability to collapse the folders, however, I imagine duplicating folders to perform parallel processing would be cumbersome. Using the drums as an example, would it be possible to create parallel drum buses and then put the buses and the individual drum channels into a folder? Ideally this would enable collapsing the drums while still parallel processing, and preventing needless track duplication? (I'm a novice, so this may be a naive question!)
you can nest folders in whatever ways you like, you just have to be careful to make sure to avoid unwanted nesting, if that makes sense. It can get a little tricky, so i like to have a bit of an indent to visually show me parent folders. that said, i tend to put all my parallel processing into an FX buss outside the instrument groups. There's no right or wrong way, so long as you don't create a feedback loop :)
@@LetsTalkAboutReaper Thanks for the reply. I'm not quite sure I understand the routing. You place your drum tracks in a folder, which gets sent to the master bus. How do you simultaneously send to an FX return track to do parralel compression/processing? Again, apologies for my naiveté.
I've got a couple of videos about parallel processing that may help explain a bit better. Lemme know if this does the trick, and if not, perhaps we can do a screen share of discord

@@LetsTalkAboutReaper Those videos did the trick. Thanks so much!
