- In this video I want to talk a little about my past, which camera I learned filmmaking with. Which is the Sony HDR-FX1E which is already a Full HD 1080 25p 50i camera, which was a great experience to learn filming with. However soon it was replaced by DSLRs and I explain why.

I love this camera! Screw 4K hd on tape for the win haha. I also have the fx1000 and z1 and love owning all the range that I could never afford when they were new!
My gosh, I learned to operate cameras using this one and also the Sony PD170 and Panasonic DVC7 in the local public tv!!! It was around 10 years ago...
Yee! I remember this camcorder and used about two years, then change on ax2000 - nextgen with two slots for sdsc cards )) Very workable and good cameras! Thanks for video!
I sold my FX1E two years ago after I used it since 2007. It was an amazing camera.
I have the original FX-1! Yours look about as well maintained as mine. Love the camera! 📹👍
Wow! That footage looks great!
i held the original sony FX1, it was mini dv hehehe, 3ccd was high end standard, long time to capture the video hehehe
I just bought one new in box for 182.00 I wanted to do some old school video work and this will do nicely
ha ha... I have this model too. Loved it, but it doesn't match todays DSLR video quality.
For skate video?
yes
Show us more of that footage...!
I am unable to have my new Macbookpro regonize the camera. Any help will be appreciated.
Oh god, I still got my Panasonic DVX100, I've made alot of video with this one!
That's the old skateboarders best friend and the Sony vx1000
Can you hook it up to a raspberry pi for CZcams live streaming?
Still got mine 😁
Can you bypass the tape and record to say atomos ninja 2
What tripod is that?
These HDV cameras are very tempting since they now come in silly prices. I was wondering if anyone has experience with HDV cameras and HDMI recorders? Is the image comparable to modern cameras?
Only thing is not all of the cameras back then have HDMI out. As the FX1e only got an S-Video or component cable out to RCA so wouldn't get Full HD signal. So need to find a higher or slightly newer model that got an HDMI to connect with an Atomos.
If you can find PCI-Ex Firewire Card or Computer that have Firewire Ports. You can dump it 1080i from it.
In my cases, outdoor , It's got very good picture quaility
(Zooming / Aparture and Shutter Speed is optimized better that some low-mid end DSLR/Mirrorless camera)
and you can got internal ND Filter too.
Indoor, with f1.6, not bad, it look like to push APS-C Camera to @ISO800-1600.
Night, if it notuse Nightvision/IR/Slower than 1/25 shutter speed , . . . . S H I T !!
and some "Hypergain Garbage"
and AF is my best point on it, Hardly lose focus on AF but when lose you can instant manual focus it and keep AF work intact, and have Focus Peaking too.
Get a pinnacle movie box they convert it to 1080p and you get great video from it
@@johnDingoFoxVelocity is there any loss in converting from 1080i progressive?
@@AnthonyPtak nope had no issues but you will have to convert the file from mpeg to a higher resolution or lower resolution and that can be setup in the pinnacle software
Good video. I still have this camera. I shot concerts and family events with it way back.. I shoot video now with a Dlsr.... But I just don't know what to do with this camera now. Its sitting around doing nothing which feels criminal given how much it cost in 2006 or 7.
Do you have any ideas?
Yes put it up for sale if you have all the accessories that came with it you can sell it for 200.00 to even as much as 400.00 not as much as the 6,000 msrp but someone would love to have it
interesting
How do you transfer the footage to the computer?
There is like via USB cable if I remember correclty and using Sony Vegas software to capture the footage on the computer, a very long and slow process. There is also certain DV devices that does the process, but most would just use the camera itself to convert it.
I am having mechanical problems with the tape drive of my HDR-FX1E. Is it worth to repair it you think ?
repair service now will be quite a lot and not worth it as can buy more.proper cams now
Memory card using ya not using
