He was in amazing shape in the first leg of History tour.. so powerful and sexy.. his voice sounded great too.. but it's tough to sing when dancing so explosively.. I can understand why he decided to add backing tracks. I don't believe he ever totally lip synced.. I think he always also sang live over a pre recorded supporting backing track

He put himself in shape before to start the tour, but not was enough, he collapses rehearsing HBO's special and after that his health would deteriorate.
