I wasn't at this specific concert although I did watch it live in 1992, but I have seen this tour when he was in Holland on July 1, 1992. It still is more than 25 years later one of the best experiences ever in my life. And I've seen and listened to this Bucharest concert hundreds of times over the years ever since I found an audio recording online at the beginning of this century and also when it was finally released on DVD a couple of years later.

Some of you misunderstand where a lot of this performance’s power comes from. The concert has huge historical and cultural relevance. Romania was the last central/eastern Europen country to abolish communism (was the only country that had to do this violently loosing civilian lives in the process). People just 3 years earlier were forbidden to listen to such music. English was not thought in schools. The country was sealed off for decades. This concert represented true liberation, in a way, more real than the dislocation of the communist party. Michael knew the significance of what he’s done here. He inspired a whole generation to follow their dreams. The ecstasy we witness here is a whole country’s locked up emotions bursting out violently. It’s beautiful.

I'm marking the significance of this event for my parent's generation, and how it might have impacted the vision of the people that very lucky to witnessed it.
I know I'm a bit late typing this, but it still baffles me of how a man, ONE. SINGLE. MAN could just stand there for a hot minute and have people fainting, crying, or taken to the hospital.
The hysteria around him the last 25 years of his life (yes that long) was next level shit. I mean thousands would be outside his hotel. This concert was sold out but there were 10k out on the streets!!! The town shut down for three days he was there

Am I the only one returning over and over again to this concert? I love the start where he's just standing still and everybody is still yelling and crying. It is/was so sick that he can just do absolutely nothing and still make people cry and make them pass out. What a legend.. the world will never see this type of a pop star/artist/human again.

It's heavily edited. This concert had scenes from crowds from different countries and performances . Also some of the screams and calling outs were edited in. I watched the original live broadcast on the BBC and it is very different including the She's out of my life girl it is a different one completely ( although the audio is live from Bucharest but watch the microphone suddenly change colour through the song , also saw him do this tour in Glasgow in 1992 as a kid.

After that, you get out of solitary and have 2 years of riots, hunger, financial crisis, and try to organise the prison how you know better. After this 2 years of survival, Michael Jackson is coming in your prison and doing this... Michael was more than an artist, for us, in 92 he was freedom, he gave us the power to dream, to hope...

@@guld1999 He wasn't trying to become white, he had a skin condition that caused his skin to become lighter as he got older.
He was on medications for that too.
Sadly his doctors gave him far too much of the medications he needed and it messed up his heart.
There was a whole documentary on T.V. about it a while back.
He really tried to make the world a better place to the best of his ability, only for too many haters within it to pretty much spit in his face so to speak.
