I think people misread Greg's play in this episode. He did not KNOWINGLY betray Tom, he had no clue Tom was gonna be CEO. He betrayed Mattson. All Tom said was "I think we'll be okay, but you're gonna have a massive paycut." If he knew that Mattson chose Tom, I doubt he would have given Kendall the intel. Tom, while furious at Greg that he almost ruined things for him, knows that Greg didn't intentionally throw him under the bus hence why he keeps him around at the end
"Keep your friends close, your enemies closer" -- I understood that scene as Tom keeping Greg close as an enemy. He'll probably slit his throat when it serves Tom's interests. By letting Greg keep his job, Tom further increases his power over Greg. He knows Greg can be useful. It'd be uncharacteristic of Tom to waste good ammo like that. Remember that scene from S1 when he tells Greg to trust no one ever? He has already won. He has nothing to gain and everything to lose (secret, scandalous shit coming out) by cutting Greg off now. It'd be an emotion-driven decision, not a logical one. In fact, that's exactly why he rose to the top: the siblings are like a bunch of feuding petty kingdoms that get washed away from history when a competent, calculating, coherent enemy like Tom comes up. Lukas and Logan, both self-made men, recognized that.
@@cainandabel7059 whats your take on why is over? Its clearly Tom forgave Greg and wants to be with him forever, his marriage with Shiv will be a facade since they both know they hate eachother

This scene was honestly intense. I was so shook when they hit each other. Greg stood him for himself but you can see the vulnerability, fear, and anxiety in his face.
Watching Greg finally fight back and smack the shit out of Tom was one of the most satisfying moments in the series. That look he gives him at 0:44 is fucking incredible. He's finally had enough of Tom's abuse and is not afraid of the consequences of fighting back anymore. Ironically enough, I think this is what convinced Tom to keep him around. He finally stopped seeing him as his patsy and started seeing him as a killer.
@@ssbidyadhar I don't know what scene you're watching but Greg did slap the fuck out of Tom lmao. He went straight for the bitch slap too, even though he just got a tap to the head. In that moment he had enough. Doesn't mean he's not gonna keep playing possum though
The flashback opening credits have always looked like they used Tom to appear as Logan, imo. Also, Roman told him to act more like Logan, so Shiv would love him (Tom) more.

Only Greg had the high stakes in the show. He could’ve easily be poor again if it wasn’t for Tom giving him a position. While Kendall Roman Shiv all will still be billionaires no matter what the deal was.
@Hosef Nah. If Tom lost his job he'd still be rich, and likely be able to find an alternative high paying job. Greg has experience as an entry level employee, and only whatever savings he put together in four years.

It was Tom's own fault for witholding information. Greg only knew that they were not going to pick Shiv he was totally unware that Tom was the choice. If someone is on your team they need to be made aware of the gameplan. I'm glad he stood up for himself finally.
It’s comically funny how Greg connected with Tom’s jaw and not fully his face making it seem like he was half-committed but it was still a reflex. It’s like a *“you bitch!”* slap. This scene is just perfect.
I laugh so hard at Greg's face @0:44 after he got a hit in and still survived the fight. His face is like holy shit I stood up for myself and didn't die.
The reason Tom picked the bathroom is because he said in an earlier episode that Logan's place is "camera-ed up the wazoo." So the bathroom is the only safe space if he wants to get physical with Greg.
This scene reminded me of season 1 when greg told tom about shivs affair with nate. I'm glad greg was finally defending himself here, thats real character development

I'm so glad these two finally had a physical fight scene, fucking hilarious. There was the "shut up" scene in season 1 but Greg actually fought back this time, attaboy!
One of the funniest things about this show is the lack of physical violence or even threats. You watch shows like Breaking Bad, there’s gang wars and shootouts over a couple million dollars at most. Meanwhile these people have the lives of thousands of people in their hands at any given moment and the most they can ever do is open hand smack one another.
Well violence has nothing to do with the world of the show. People are killed in succession but in the business sense of course (when rhea is killed). Breaking bad is about actual crime, street crime, gangs, etc. There's a different kind of corrupt in Succession
