I love this ink, it's wonderfully dark but not as waterproof as Carbon Black

Yes. They are both water resistant.

I love the new Chou Kuro but still have both of the others as backup if I run out. All three are nice dark black inks with moderate to good water resistance. Thanks for the review.

Chou Kuru is now my favorite black ink. I use it to write letters and to address envelopes 😊

I was using using *Parker Quink ink* ($12 cad), untill it would blob when a little water went on it.
I am now using Platinum Carbon Ink black 60cc ....and so far there is no water issues with it...but each bottle is worth 🤑 40$ canadian (tax & shipping included.)😵..
I am still looking around for a waterproof fountain pen ink that is agreeable with my budget

There are two good German brands that are reasonably priced (although I am not sure about how easily available they would be in Canada), one is Rohrer and Klingner, they have really good waterproof sketch inks, and the other brand is De Atramentis, they have an amazing document ink.

Hello darkness, my old friend… 😁 thank you for your thorough review! I was wondering if you are willing to reveal a sneak preview of what you might feature on your Instagram account or will we just have to wait and see?

I admit I am terrible at keeping my Instagram updated! Good suggestion, I have to try and get better at using it. Thanks for watching!

Timing is everything. As it turns out, I had been disappointed when I found my local stationer didn't have Platinum Carbon Black. I decided to wait until maybe they got it in stock. They also do not carry TWSBI pens and I had hoped for a TWSBI Diamond Mini AL for its ease of maintenance and filling. In the interim, I researched other pens that might compare, thinking I wanted a small pocket pen as a starting point. Nothing seemed to equal the value of the TWSBI and so I widened my search to include Pilot, since they are so popular and yes, my local would have them. Settled on a Pilot Vanishing Point--a little pricier than I had planned but with a gold nib and a very convenient form factor despite its brass heft and non-mininess. Waiting paid-off as not only did I get a great pen but also a bottle of the very dark, Lamy Crystal Obsidian ink. And now Platinum has the Chou Kuro. What's next? How much darker can they get? Happy for now. Thanks for recommending Lamy Crystal Obsidian as a very smooth flowing ink in your previous video.

Nice! A gold nib bed fountain pen is hard to beat. Glad you are enjoying the Lamy ink! Thanks for watching!

So happy to see a new video from you! Hope you have had time to relax since the move.
I know you have residual trauma from your "only blue" school days, and have found a love for black ink.
Have you tried colors other than blue or black while searching for inks to love?

I have indeed - I had a Lamy Crystal Green, which was quite a dark green that I tired of for a while, and a J Herbin pomegranate red. I gave the green a good shot but ultimately was just searching for the darkness of a black. The red I thought I would use for highlights or underlining etc but that’s just not my method of working so that didn’t last long either.
      Thanks for watching!

I don't know if you've mentioned what kind of work you do for your career, but is this the type of work you are saying you don't need highlights, etc. for? I do recall you saying you had previously needed to take notes when you were "out in the field," which certainly is not a place I would expect any type of device for highlighting!
Also I recall you personally study investment/finance subject matter, so do you mean applying to that?
Or your personal system of work/notetaking/etc. that applies to all things you do?
In any event, is that something you would be willing to show us? I know you've shown how you set up your notebooks when you start a new one, and you have shown your financial tracking, as well (thank you- trying that one this month!), but I'm so interested in seeing what other processes you use!@@BlankFirstPage

I wrote a long response to this that I thought I posted, but it's not here, so perhaps I made a mistake.
Anyhoo. You have mentioned that, at least, in the past you had to take notes "in the field" and that personally you study investment. Perhaps the way you work that does not require highlighting covers both of these fields. Would you be interested in showing us how you work with your notes in-depth? You've done some reference here and there. I very mush appreciate your financial tracking, which I've started this month. You are so methodical, however, that I think it would be great to see, in succession, how your method applies to all areas that you take notes. Could possibly be a series of videos. You are so detailed and specific (which is delightful).
Also, as a stationery person I am always interested in the longevity of papers and notebooks, etc. Would you be willing to share how your first Field Notes books look at the present time? And give your opinions on how the paper quality has held up over the years, and the binding, etc? And I hope that you are willing to share your feelings of revisiting those notebooks all this time later.
I hope these requests/suggestions do not come across as outrageous, or even rude. I apologize if they do.@@BlankFirstPage

@@RevertYahya Not outrageous at all, thanks a lot for the suggestions! I'll try to plan a video for my general note-taking process - a lot of it I just do without thinking so it'll be an interesting exercise. As to longevity - my next video is going to be all about Field Notes, you'll be seeing the notebooks, all the way to the first one I used and the ones that have been through the ringer! Thanks for watching!

Entirely unrelated to this thread of ours from weeks ago:
      1. Do you spell your name Lucas or Lukas or some other way so I may be accurate?
      2. Weeks later it is still a joy to visit this video.
Thank you for creating and sharing.@@BlankFirstPage

Also it's pronounced as "choo"-sounding or "chuu" not "chow" hehe just thought you should know ✌️

"Chou" is pronounced similarly to the "o" in English "so", but not "chew" or "chow". Chou Kuro means "super black", and I think it's a cute name. Chou is the same chou in "chou kawaii", meaning "super cute".
