  • In the last 75 years, India's Asian elephant population has decreased by 50%, leading to significant human-elephant conflicts. In Assam, tea farmer Tenzing Bodosa is addressing this issue by creating an elephant-friendly tea garden. His approach includes forgoing harmful practices like drainage ditches and electric fences, allowing elephants to pass through peacefully. He avoids chemical pesticides and fertilizers, instead cultivating elephant-friendly vegetation like bamboo and star fruit in a unique buffer zone. This innovative farming method has gained recognition, leading Bodosa to educate 30,000 farmers. His farm is certified by the Wildlife Friendly Enterprise Network as the world’s only elephant-friendly tea garden.
#OMGIndia #OMGHindi #OMGSeason8 #EndangeredSpeciesDay ‪@byjusclasses‬
