I feel like the main problem WWE has when designing title belts in recent memory, especially their top men’s and women’s titles, is the fact that they feel the need to incorporate the design around the WWE logo itself. This makes it look less like a title, and more like a cheap marketing tool, more like a toy, and not like a prestigious trophy earned through hard work.
Bingo
THIS
Added onto that, I realize they have to have their company logo on the belt somewhere so we know this is WWE’s property, but there’s no need to make logo the title itself to satisfy the egos of certain former corporate executives… if you know what I mean.
Something like the big gold belt, the big eagle belt from the 90s to the early 00s, or the IWGP championships would be more appealing in my opinion.
100 percent. They should be designing the belts to look good first, then add the branding.
It's the same reason why they've been so hesitant to push stars. Vince got tired of wrestlers becoming bigger than the company. They believe people should come for the show, not for the wrestlers.
The Big Gold Belt is the GOAT championship belt 🔥🔥🔥 absolutely beautiful!!
FACTS dude.
Absolutely! The title that Seth has makes me miss it that much more.
The wwf wing title is 2nd on my list next to that big gold belt
big gold, you mean the WCW world heavyweight championship belt? (former NWA championship?)
The eagle with the blue globe in the back is the best
I miss the Gold belt on Batista 💪
Me too
It was made for him.
@@The_Wrestling-Horror_collectorProbably why he had the longest run with it.
Bro when I think of that belt I only think of batista😂 it fit him so perfectly
I miss it on undertaker
That WCW World Title is the undisputed and undefeated 🐐 of World Titles.
FACTS.
It looked so fckn ugly....
Just a giant fake gold plate....
Like why do people like it so much?
Boring title 🥱🥱🥱
That and the undisputed(2002) title
Nahhh
The spinner belt is alright . WWE making the wwe championship or universal red and blue was the biggest downgrade like a 5 year created the belt
FACTS the universal championship was basically the wwe championship but just different color which made it even more WORSE.
A five year old would make a better looking belt than that I t think 😂
tha spinner belt wuz dum af .. if dey only used it when Cena became champion makes sense like Austin & Rocks specific belts but to keep as a main belt wuz a hard miss
spinner belt was a mockery of a wwf championship belt
@@cliffordjackson3I still remember the live crowd reaction when they unveiled the og Red Universal title…..the most awkward introduction for a world title I’ve ever seen.
Forever the big gold belt will be the best world heavyweight championship! ✨️✨️✨️
FACTS but the wwe undisputed championship or the version 4 of the iwgp heavyweight championship is up there.
@@cliffordjackson3 true, I puffer the original undisputed title belt than the current one.
The original tna world heavyweight title is up there.
You can say what you about the Spinner WWE Championship, at the very least, it had character and personality and it actually did grew on the fans over the years unlike the current title.
iwc sheep can hate on it all they want .that belt looked awesome and sold a ton of merch ...but im a big gold belt guy cuz i liked batista and SmackDown
@@Mega_CollosasYeah, the Spinner title was a good title.
Agreed also I was born in 2000 and started watching when I was 7 or 8, that was all I knew for quite awhile. I didn’t think of it as gimmicky cause I didn’t have the tie to Cena. To me it was what made WWE stand out, where TNA had a cool design, but it was flat and boring.
Spinner sucks, as a special version for Cena it`s not so bad, but when someone else holding it, it`s look stupid and more like some kid`s toy then the most valueable title in the whole wresting world.
@@user-dw2xx4lm4k The Spinner is far better than the current Undisputed title.
That ECW title is clean. Just not for ECW
Right I loved that new ecw belt taker would of looked dope with it if it was a wwe title
The current Undisputed WWE champion doesn't look like an Undisputed wwe championship, and looks more like a McDonald's or a mustard championship 😂😂
I was gonna say it looks like a cheap costume prop one would get at Party City, or at Chuck E Cheese’s.
Its a ramen noodle title
Very ugly imo.
@@LucotIC.yall just be saying anything atp
@@iiTsFaded_I was just about to say that lol
@@cadillacjohn1994 or Chocolate bar cover lol
No one made the World Heavyweight Championship belt look as good as the Animal Batista
Agree
😂😂😂😂 no
Hell no. Plenty of other people made that belt look good and Batista is just one of them. Triple H, Sting, Scott Steiner, Goldberg, Hollywood Hogan, etc
Yep 💯
Naw
i miss the 80's belt designs those were the classics.
I never knew they shrink the big gold belt, I always liked the original undisputed belt
How can you say that you liked the Original..
When you never knew it shrank ?
So to you it was basically always the original.
@@rzn2258 Yeah its pretty easy to tell the size difference when you look at superstars who held both versions. It looked much smaller on Jericho in 2010 then it did in 2001 or even 2008. Also Rey in 2010 vs 2006 and even the little amount of time Cena held the larger version right after he beat Jericho at Survivor Series 2008, compared to when he held it in 2009 and 2013.
6:16 - thanks for using my video on my Undisputed Championship V2 review and giving credit! Marked out seeing that!
The championship itself was a beautiful design that im shocked made this list! The fact that the Big Eagle lasted 4 years and Undisputed lasted 3 years, while the spinner lasted 8 YEARS!
I loved the purple Cruiserweight Championship Belt, the hectagon pattern of the plates made it look good and the combination of silver, purple and the little orange details were good, but I agree that looks like a toy
I think the darker version they later used in NXT is an improved version of the Puprle one
I REALLY liked the Purple and silver. It looked classy
It's my favorite of the video, and the nxt is the one they had to take out in the cruiserweight classic final in my opinion
I liked it too, was a huge fan of the title when introduced because it looks really cool and different. A lot bigger too than the previous title. I did enjoy the black strap too but purple really stood out
The Spinner WWE Championship was a very overhated title
Facts
That belt was my childhood
My favorite title of all time
Worst title ever
No, it was hated just fine. It's actually a crime how short of a life span the undisputed championship was and it was replaced with that nonsense.. that lasted a freaking decade.
7:30 - Well yeah Mark Henry and Big Show make literally ALL titles look tiny by comparison. However, the slightly altered design was because of Randy Orton
You see, WWE have multiple belts laying around in case they need to replace them. Often times they have a belt meant for TV and another belt for house shows. Apparently, Randy Orton like the house show version of the belt more and began using it on TV and so WWE stuck with it. The House Show belt was slightly smaller, but the engravings were more detailed
This and the OG Big Gold is either lost or Conrad has it lol
@@password.is.taco. I’m pretty sure Conrad has the one with the bent because Hulk Hogan has the WCW double belt he took home at Bash at the Beach. He now displays it at his restaurant in Tampa.
Tbh when Big Show (as the Giant) held the original big gold title in WCW, it looked perfect on him, just the right size as opposed to the tiny thing he held in 2011. Also, I think it was John Cena who introduced the smaller design around 2008 after he beat Jericho at Survivor Series. The thing looked so tiny when he held it up at WrestleMania 25 lol. Randy had a few versions when he was champ in 2011, the one I'm guessing Big Show and Mark Henry won later on.
the 2001 invasion angle wcw title won by jericho, rock, angle, booker t is the best looking big gold belt representation
I thought the Undisputed Championship from the early 2000's looked pretty good and it's my favorite Championship belt of all time which might be a bit controversial but it looked like 1,000,000 bucks and most certainly looks better then the boring undisputed championship we have today
My favorite is the V2 or Lesnar version! The one with the font plate slightly stretched!
I like the intercontinental championship. It's one of the most different looking championships in the company. Adding the blue into the belt is the only legitimate criticism I've heard about it and I agree that it would look awesome.
it looks like every other title right now lol how is it different
The spinner belt should’ve been only for John Cena. It was very upsetting that they didn’t keep the Undisputed title for other superstars
Honestly the best title designs were around 2002-2005. All of them were so much better. Both tag titles, the IC, the women's, big gold and undisputed. Personally my favourite is the big eagle from the attitude era but I think they undisputed belt is actually pretty nice too. In an ideal world I would bring all the designs back from that era and leave it as is
Despite being downgraded, the spinner belt is still my number one favorite title design for the WWE title of all time. The reason why I loved it is because John Cena is my favorite wrestler of all time, it was a huge part of my childhood, and cars had spinners back in the day. What a time to be alive!
Yeah, the Spinner title was a good title, the reason why the fans hate it was because it was permanent change rather than a gimmick title for John Cena.
@@kazallrobertsyou said it best. I would like the spinner chip a lot more IF was only like that when Cena held it and then revert back to the design it’s based from when it’s on someone else. I never understood why WWE doesn’t give wrestlers choice on which version of the belt they hold. I get how it could get out of hand with it possibly switching designs, so I think they should rotate between 2-3 designs each belt giving wrestlers a choice on what they want even if limited. It’ll never happen but we can dream
Same man
I always liked the single Undisputed Title belt in 2002. Looked badass on Triple H, Undertaker, The Rock, Brock Lesnar, Kurt Angle.
That belt looked badass on anyone truly a beautiful championship
The Big Gold World Heavyweight Champion Ship Belt Is My All Time Favorite,
Screw The New Ones!
The US Title is pure trash! They can throw it away with the WCW TV title!
they better throw the womens tag title straps first ...before doing that
The spinner title was hideous. They could’ve introduced a new design & still sold replicas as kids toys.
I love how it ain’t that many title upgrades n a good way so you guys went st8 to this 😅😂 gotta love it great topic!!!!!!
FINALLY! Someone talks about how the belts became smaller with time! I always had the impression I was the only one noticing all that
What I hate more though is when WWE comes up with an interesting idea for a title, and then strips away all its meaning. What was the point of the European title for instance? The intercontinental title was originally a unification of the north-american and south-american titles, but later became its own thing with a name that didn't mean anything any more. Not to say the title doesn't have prestige, just why did they keep using that particular title instead of coming up with a brand new title to serve the same purpose? When I stopped watching WWE, they had an NXT Europe belt or UK belt, forget which, for a separate branch of NXT, but then someone from US NXT challenged for that belt and it was like.. okay if it's not going to be a title specific to the European branch of NXT any more, what's the point of the title?
Pretty dope to see my Big Gold review make it on here! Appreciate the love, Wrestlelamia, and great video!
And again that was some great WRESTLING CONTENT as always 🙂
The attitude Era belt and the big gold belt are the best ones
I agree. I liked the attitude era heavyweight championship belt, very underrated
I'll add an honorable mention for when they made the straps velcro. Made even the best designs feel cheap, especially when you could hear the velcro rip
I absolutely hate the Velcro straps!
Those copper tag titles actually looked better than the silver tbh
The best belts imo was the early 2000’s during the brand split when the titles were exclusive to the show..I loved every design even the women’s championship was dope to me
The modern Cruiserweight title I like and I believe it was made better with the NXT varient having a dark strap.
I remember when Angel Garza first introduced the NXT Cruiserweight Championship model in 2020, but at that year’s Worlds Collide, JD McDonagh would win that title in a fatal four way match, thus becoming the longest reigning NXT Cruiserweight Champion in history.
The Big Gold Belt of WCW can never be replaced.
Some things are just timeless and cannot be changed.
Congratulations on the 2M subscribers, WL! 💯
What helped the Undisputed belt was when they made it physically larger. That was the only real issue with the Winged Eagle was that it was made for smaller wrestlers such as Bret and Shawn but was dwarfed in size compared to the Big Gold Belt on WCW.
How can you say it was made for smaller wrestlers when it was introduced in the late 80s? That's when WWE was prime land of the giants. Also, Hogan held it, Andre held it (for a few seconds, anyway), and Warrior held it. None of them have ever been described as "small".
Fun fact that version Cena is holding on the thumbnail is made from Tin. That version is even smaller than the 3-4 previous versions before it.
Liar😡😡😡
@@KadenHartley it really was made from a lighter material but alright lol.
@@zakkfps910 Sources?
@@zakkfps910it just looked lighter like a different type of material
I feel like title design problem is they use a more modern, heavily iconic, less ornate type of design. It’s very plain, very stripped down. The big gold belt had a really regal look to it, the winged eagle had the cool art deco elements. Now they don’t really have an aesthetic.
the nxt title looks dope. idk how anyone could hate it
The Current Tag Team Titles are SOOOO LACKLUSTER compared to the Classic Tag Team Titles...🙄
And they just need to be unified.
@@NotAdultingToday No, that was the problem...they need to be separated or they need Bring the World Tag Team Titles...
I’m in the minority here but I absolutely loved the cena belt. It’s my favorite title of all time and there’s just something about it that just pops for me.

10 WWE titles that never saw the light of day
Also, I do actually like the way the NXT Championship looks. But I’ll always best prefer the model used from 2017 to 2022 thanks to the all gold plating. Plus, that Cruiserweight Title looked a lot better with a darker purple strap with the NXT logo on the center plate. I mean, the NXT titles actually are the best looking titles in the modern era of WWE. Even the NXT UK titles. But even when it came to the NXT Women’s Championship, it looked better on a white strap when the current model was first introduced with the multi-colors and the sharpened N and T. But it did at least retain the big X in the center of the plate.
They actually went from a W to a *bigger* "double"-W, as they just plaster the logo all over the belts, due to modern "branding" obsessions...
I never liked the I-C with white. A lot of times, gold and white look amazing together. But the I-C with black strap just looked better, imo.
Idc what anyone says, but i like the spinning wwe title, the divas title and the current ic title(would've been way better with a white strap, but still beautiful).
💯
The spinner WWE title design was so gorgeous that im okay with them sticking with it. Better than all the designs currently besides the Intercontinental
I don’t care what anyone says the WWE spinner belt looked amazing.
Hate it when wrestlers like Khali goldbery shows the title inverted as it's disrespect to the title
The new watermarks are amazing!
Good list overall, though I disagree with a couple of your entries here. My main one would be the new IC belt. It’s a nice case study into how something so initially underwhelming can grown on you overtime. When it was first introduced I, like many, thought it looked hideous; too small, and its design and wording looked all over the place. But idk, it could be because of Gunther’s amazing run with the title, but overtime the IC belt has really grown on me. In fact, dare I say, I actually prefer it now over the “classic” IC belt. While I do still wish the center piece and side plates were bigger, overall, it’s an incredibly regal looking design and Gunther has done an excellent job at making that belt look like a million bucks. Now that abomination of the US title on the other hand..
Cena's spin world title is way more better than Universal title
Could you do the 10 biggest title upgrades?
That's what I like about the old classic wrestling belts. Today's WWE modern belts look like toys with no creativity whatsoever
I'll always defend the current IC title, I wouldn't even add blue to, I love the full black & good look it has now.
Gonna have to heavily disagree on a few of those. You said it without saying it but popular opinion usually decides if something is good or bad to us. I’m old enough to remember day 1 of the Undisputed Championship and I thought immediately this is what I want to order. I didn’t care that everyone was caught up in nostalgia that gold belt was a thing of beauty.
But the ones I disagree about are that Cruiserweight championship and NXT. The old design wasn’t that great either if you ask me, the purple strap and updated look actually stands out in a good way. The color helps represent another division and the plate wasn’t nearly as bad as everyone tried to make it seem. You can say it looks like a toy but so did the old US belt and people love to act like that design is the best thing since sliced bread. It’s not perfect but it’s an upgrade from the original. And the NXT title you’re right didn’t NEED the color in it but it still looked fine and less generic. I love the way it liked before adding color but adding color didn’t make me like or love it any less.
This whole list is garbage and complainy. Like yeah the World Title looks small on Big Show and Mark Henry... because they are Big Show and Mark Henry, two super heavyweights.
@@night6724 yeah I love wrestlelamia but it sounds like his list is just based off popularity contests and not a genuine opinion. Every belt on this list is a “because the internet said it’s bad list” with some actually being genuinely god awful like the Divas and ECW, but most of them are like EH, debatable, and the ones I named in the first post I strongly disagree with. SN: I do wish the current IC title looked like the one with more color he showed but all in all it’s still not a bad design with or without Gunther holding it. But I do prefer the classic looks more.
@@aarondent6557exactly his list is based off of popularity
@@aarondent6557 the tag belts and that rainbow nxt belt deserve every ounce of hate they get. Same with the purple cruiserweight title
Intercontinental title really misses blue color. Blue could explodes on that title.
I don't agree with the IC Title being on this list, though I do agree it would look better with a bit of blue added, keeping the black strap.
Cena's spinner belt was really popular amongst kids back in d day
I actually think the new Intercontinental title is pretty awesome, and it looks amazing on Gunther
I miss the old designs these new ones are lackluster
The white intercontinental title in my opinion is the best title design ever. The classic design and then you add the white strap. Looked beautiful
Spinner belt is fire idc what anyone says
Facts
Agree 💯. Never had a problem with it...
the nxt women title design definitely had to be changed after what Saraya did to it
They continue to make their titles look like WWE branded props they might as well just come out and say "it's all scripted, nothing real about whoever wins this" instead of designing convincing championships that are full of class & respect to the holder.
I like the Huge Version of the Big Gold WCW World Heavyweight Championship Belt better
The divas title looked far better than the old womens title
No. It looks like it was designed by the people who make bratz dolls.
I have to disagree with that. OG women's belt looked cool and made them look though yet elegant...
opinions are opinions for a reason, but this one just sucks. no shot it is better than the og
So WWE fans basically hate every new title design?
I really like the color straps on the titles💯🔥🤷🏻♂️
As a kid i was excited to get a toy version of the spinner belt 😅
And as a 25 year old, i will love to buy the Spinner replica belt. Love it, aware of some fans not liking the design. As well as being part of my childhood ❤
The new US title is an upgrade
I Enjoyed This Video And Have Been A Fan Of You Work For A Long Time. Thanks For The Credit On This Video💀
My main issue when it comes to WWE Titles now is that they just cant seem to make titles with their own identitys. To the average or new fans they see these titles being all the same design. I truely believe we need just 1 womans title with a significant design. 1 world/wwe title with significant design and biggest centerpiece. 1 tag title and so on.
8:35 I always thought that….even on the smackdown vs Raw games if you win the belt it would ask if you want the old bet back
I'd say the WWE title that debuted on RAW following Summerslam 2014 was a down grade. It was a rebranding on the title that the Rock debuted to replace the spinner belt which at the time was welcome, with the older fans being sick of the children's toy
Of all the current designs, it's the tag team titles that irk me the most. It's a great design, but they effed when they didn't use two tone. If they had used silver/gold as suggested in the vid. I believe they would have a much more impressive set of belts.
The big gold had to be shrunk down for the modern era. The heavy weight champs became much smaller then they were in the 80s and the 90s, hell even early and mid 2000s.
Always liked how chunky and thick the spinner belt looked but the design wasn't great.
😄👍
Top 10 best personal titles, Cena's spinner belt and Stone Cold's burning skull belt are 2 examples
The divas title design is an abomination. A fitting title for the worst women’s division in WWE history.
Batista wearing that big gold belt on his waist was the best thing that ever happened ❤️Good old memories man
Winged Eagle and Nwa Tv Title are two of the best ever
My only argument to the ECW title is most military's in the word but silver as a step above gold (see the US Army rank structure as an example), with the ECW brand being more "hardcore" that may have been the thinking, but with the general population I can see that been seen as a downgrade.... also the big W's version of ECW did become trash quick.
The original mid 80s early 90s winged eagle WWF belt is my favorite of all time. The 80s had the best looking titles overall.
Honestly, i like the design of most of the belts on this list. I just don't think they should be "the" belt. I thought the silver ECW title was awesome. Not a big fan of the belts themselves but copper plates looked cool.
I don’t mind all of these. The Tag Teams, the new/current IC title. The Big Gold Belt was amazing but shrinking was very dumb. I don’t even mind the spinner but agree it stayed because spinning jewelry was cool at the time. The Cruiserweight and Divas titles were hideous tho.
When Big Green was replaced with what looked like the NWA Television Championship.
Let's not forget that time when Big Gold was replaced with the Tag Team belt.
I think the 2002 undisputed belt also changed size. When it was first introduced, it was a lot smaller. But when The Rock had it, it was much larger.
Nobody wore the big gold better than Batista 05-06!!
Sometimes I fail to understand why wwe higher ups believe main roster title designs look good. The undisputed title is so bland and doesn't even feel like a world title at all. There's no way they're unaware of people's hatred for the design.
I'm pretty sure they don't care cause the current world titles is free publicity which brings new fans as well draws sponsors. So to them it doesn't matter if the fans like the designs what matters is money they makes and new ppl they bring in as well as sell as many replica title belts to children
The problem is WWE has no originality when it comes to creating a new championship or upgrading a current championship
they want no originality ,they want to sell their brand .... their brand draws more than the actual wrestlers nowadays
I KNEW IT! THE BIG GOLD BELT STARTED LOOKING DIFFERENT SOMEWHERE AROUND 2010… (I think)
New title of WWE Undisputed Championship is stupid af
The Undisuputed WWE Title, Version 1, it's main plate was WAY too small. If I remember correctly, the main plate was 8 3/4" x 10" . Coming from the Big Gold which is 11 1/2" tall and the Big Eagle which is 10" tall, it was a literal downgrade. Version 2 (debuted by Taker after he beat Hogan) was much better, with the dimensions being 11" x 14". JMAR also did some more fill in work and back wash with black paint so the details of the art popped more.
The problem with the WWE Big Gold was JMAR and his inability to keep up on demand. At times they used had used 2D copies (one was used during one of Edge's reigns) and other smaller cast copies while the other correct copies were out for repair. The first time I remember seeing a smaller one was during Chris Jericho's 2008 reign. Basically JMAR would not have time to create a whole new belt so he would send back cast copies, and over time the casting process caused the plates on some versions of the Big Gold to be smaller in size.
These were swapped in and out with the 2D version until JMAR sent back the original 3D version. I'm not sure how many copies of the original 3D Big Gold they originally had, but it seemed like towards the end there was only one. During the Christian vs Orton fued, it was badly needing repair(restoning, plates coming off the leather) and had to be temporarily swapped out by a Dave Millican version. The Dave Millican version was the same dimensions of the original, however it had a nugget texture in the fill areas. It's easy to spot as the nugget texture really catches the light and those fill areas look brighter than the floral pattern.
To this day I miss WCW
Sorry, either version of the undisputed title is gorgeous. The smaller plates of V1 look odd, but the design is immaculate.
The Big Gold is truly one of best title designs ever (just behind the 4th gen IWGP championship in my opinion) and I was sad to see it go, but the Undisputed belt’s design is so elegant I don’t consider it a downgrade.
Best Title Upgrades next plz.
One thing you can give to AEW is that even though they have a LOT of belts , their titles look prestigious. The WWE titles today are all so uniform and simplistic. Hopefully the next time they change the designs they actually look like WWE Championship belts again !
I actually liked the purple cruiserweight title. But the IC title i think looks bad on some people, and amazing on others
WWE has, by far, the ugliest collection of title belts in wrestling. It's completely baffling.
