Probably the most useful tip on here! We used to have to saturate the entire dog with tomato juice, let marinate at least 10 min. Then wash with dish soap with a rinse of 2 tablespoons of kerosene per gallon of water. Very complicated, time consuming, & a waste of good tomato juice! Your way sounds much better!

You can actually bring water to a boil in a paper cup suspended over a campfire. The water cools the paper and keeps it from charring or burning ==> Transports the heat away.
But if you let too much boil away, parts of the cup can heat up FAST and char pretty fast.
This seems to work best with thin walls.

Thanks for sharing some distilled wisdom... I've used Zip Ties to make a Shelter for Yearling Draft horses, binding five or six steel pipe gates together with some sturdy Fabric. Even though these sweet critters would occasionally rough-house and bump the structure with their huge bodies, the thing held together wonderfully. When we built a new barn, I had to cut every one of the Zip Ties to disassemble the thing.
But I'd never thought of the uses you show for bug=out camping with zip ties... Thanks.
I'll remember these tricks when the sun is going micronova. ‹ ; • )

I find h2o2 (hydrogen peroxide) lasts quite a while longer than “just a few months” after being opened, but it does help to have a whole punched in the safety seal as someone suggested instead of opening the bottle fully. I buy, in bulk, 3% food grade hydrogen peroxide from a reputable source, as it has many uses. Lastly, you can buy testing strip papers to check the quality of your peroxide…instead of trying to guess whether it has lost its efficacy.
