Thank you very much! I recently installed a couple of Growatt inverters that came with the wifi dongles. After two weeks of frustration trying to get the dataloggers to work, I was about to toss them. Then I came across your video. And yes, changing the default server to the US one immediately solved the connection issue. I added the S/N of the dataloggers via the website, and the Shinephone app automatically completed the setup. Thank you again!

However, I'm completely and totally baffled the instant I went to the Growatt website, and I had no idea whatsoever what to do there. Thanks for this video, I changed to a dual band router, 2.4G/5G and my Growatt went offline. I tried to set it up from the phone up, but it just would not accept the STANDARD MODE setup. I followed what you did in this video and got it working again.

Great info for the future. Have 3000w array pumping water on my Thai farm. Looking to growatt 5000 for my house power. Solar work in Thailand is difficult due to low information level of merchants also a lot of low end Chinese products flooding the market. Growatt has a support network that reassures me that it can be done. Thanks.
I am still problems but you reminded me how to start in the right direction. this is the 2nd one I have done and a year ago i had all these same problems. last time it was my firewall giving me problems and i had to turn it off to make my first connections , after 3 days. But now with this new Xfinity they do not give me the option to turn it off.
I can not install ShinePhone as consumer. I am asked for OSS installer code as required field. Also, I can connect to inverter wifi, but nothing appears on this IP address.

I will be making a video on this in the future as well. you can change the interval time (MIN) on the advanced page to. instead of updating every 5 minutes change it to like 0.5 :) it worked perfectly for me.

Yes I would. I had the Growatt 3000 in a non-insulated storage container for 22 months while I was living in my camper. That thing ran non-stop with zero issues in 100F temps. So far I am really happy with the Growatt products that I have purchased.
Thank you from all the non-IT people out there. Quick question, the wifi dongle never blinked blue, but stayed a steady green. On the Growatt dashboard it says the data logger is added by its status is ‘lost’ . Am I missing something? Thanks!
Me too. I may run a solar "trickle" pump and pump water into a big cistern. I like the idea of having multiple thousands of gallons of water uphill from the home.
Any idea what to do when the device status of the wifi dongo says: "Status: Lost" on the dashboard. There doesn't appear to be any consistent way to get the wifi dongo to get detected and connected to wifi but even when I do get it to start blinking blue and have the dashboard recognize it, it is still "lost." I have deleted and try to add it back again under the datalogger, but it gets to the part of being lost and never goes anywhere further. The dashboard says something about wait 5-10 minutes to allow the device to connect, but it still hasn't connected and it has been hours. Any help is appreciated.

Pawnee, I just got 3 growatt mppt chargers. Signature solar doesn't have background on them being so new. I'm trying to figure out whether to use gprs or wifi. My lappy does wifi but not connected to the net & it would seem the wifi dongle needs to connect to growatts servers to use the app. Would you know if the gprs dongle doesn't require connecting to their servers?
Use your phone as a Hotspot to get internet to the laptop for the setup. Then you can use an access point to remotely view parameters while in range. This is what I had to do when setting up my 18k watt generac.
you might mention that the GroWATT Dongle Serial Number is CaSe SenSitIve ... that took me a while to figure out ... COOP the WiSeNhEiMeR from Richmond INDIANA ...

Good video it helped a lot. I installed my wifi dongle using the laptop first. But now I’m having trouble setting up the shine phone app. I assumed the “data logger” would already show up in the app, but it wants me to add a “data logger”. When I scan the code, it won’t connect. Do I have to put the blue blinking light back into the solid blue mode? And if I do this will it disconnect everything I did in the original laptop setup? Sorry, for the newbie question. Thanks

Correct, you have to buy the wifi adapter separate. And I am not sure if both inverters need an adapter when paralleled together. I am wiring mine up over the next couple of weeks and will find out and let you know.
My growatt is sso much noisy the fan always runs at full speed and it is loud, is there a solution? or can i configure the RPM of the fans in the monitoring page?
Which growatt is it. Mine is fairly loud only when it has a lot of solar coming in or is out putting a lot of watts, otherwise it is not too bad. Mine are housed in a separate solar shed so I don't really have to hear them much unless I am working in there.

I have the blue light on the growatt, I find the wifi on my computer, it says open, then after trying to connect I think I am connected because it says no Internet,open (and I have now an option of clicking disconnect). But when I try to connect i my browser i takes the password and then there are no clickable options, it says connection was setback

I am not exactly clear on your question, but I know the 5000ES growatt will except 450v in solar. If you are connecting your panels in series, you will be adding the voltage for each panel that you plug in.
Once I got it set up on the web interface, the shine app worked as long as I log in with the same credentials. If I remember right it took a day or two for things to show on the phone.

hello sorry if I disturb you or just installed my growatt 5000es or connected the lithium battery 48 volt 100ah with voltage 52.5 volts or tried to turn on and it did not turn on you can help me please thank you.Then or connected the 230volt network and it turned on but at the output it did not give me the 230volt to power the loads, and despite the battery is connected as soon as I remove the 230volt utility

hello the problem of turning on the inverter and was solved it was a disconnected plug on the motherboard now it works correctly but still another problem The inverter charges the battery to 50% and then stops charging maybe you have to configure some parameters?

Nice Video man. I got the shineWIFI-F Adapter because this one is especially for the SPF5000 ES Off-Grid-Inverter. Now i wanna install and the Wifi which is broadcasted by the adapter has password and this is nowhere to find. So i could not connect to this network and i could not install the adapter. 😞I even reset the adapter but same problem again and again. Hello. I tried to connect my datalogger but does not work. If I see the datalogger network on my computer, it says "secured" and not open. How can I solve this ? Thanks Wim
Maybe it's been said, maybe it hasn't, but if this piece of sh presents a secured adhoc network when we drop to AP mode, unlike the open network shown here, the password will be the same as this video shows for the admin console: 12345678. Ask me how I know?

The comment was made on the same frustrating day that you and everyone else here had, trying to get this adapter configured. As an IT Operations Engineer, I spent about 3 hours more than it should have taken on this thing. Its size is 10x larger than it needs to be, should not be an external dongle and instructions shipped did not describe a wireless AP configuration, but rather a more IoT device setup. This device, most especially the initial setup, was a piece of sh. It works okay now that it's configured, but still has issues. FYI all, it does not deal well with heat. Data ingestion will come to a halt if the device gets too hot. So, no. Not you. 😊 Thanks in fact. Without your video, I probably would have had another hour into Googling for the admin console password.

On the same page during setup where you change to the us server you can also change the interval time from every 5 minutes to what ever you want.

If you have 2 in parallel, you need 2 wifi adapters or only 1 . Thanks

I do not know the answer to that question.
My guess is it will require an internet connection.

No, once it is setup on the "server-us.growatt.com" site it should also show on the shine app as long as you are logging in with the same credentials.

You can stick a paper clip into that little hole where the light is and force it to reset and start the process over if you need to .

Can you try a different browser. Maybe Chrome or firefox will have better luck?
Can i add 3 separate inverters for separate people all connected to the same Internet router ir does it induce problems?
I have two of them running and will add a third soon. SO that should not be an issue.

No down time. And there are settings that I have only found in the software that are not on the Growatt interface.
Apparently you can't do anything without adding a plant first, don't even have an iption to add data logger
that is true. I accidentally added an extra plant and still cannot figure out how to remove it.

Why do i get 230 current at solar input terminals
+ points & -side.?
(ACpower) terminals at the inverter.
Becos of this reason ,we did not install solar panels to
the Inverter.
System is working on batteries . Fine
earthing is checked
Inverter is earthed.
when its on batteries you can ?? funny

hello sorry if I disturb you or just installed my growatt 5000es or connected the lithium battery 48 volt 100ah with voltage 52.5 volts or tried to turn on and it did not turn on you can help me please thank you.Then or connected the 230volt network and it turned on but at the output it did not give me the 230volt to power the loads, and despite the battery is connected as soon as I remove the 230volt utility
I am not sure I am the best one to help. Check out Davidpoz youtube channel, he has some detailed videos on how to wire up the inverters and batteries.

hello the problem of turning on the inverter and was solved it was a disconnected plug on the motherboard now it works correctly but still another problem The inverter charges the battery to 50% and then stops charging maybe you have to configure some parameters?
it appears that you have a similar set up to what i am hoping to do this spring, (growatt 5k, with breaker box and transformer). can you do a video on how that is all set up? that would be very helpful.

You have in parallel 48/5000 and 48/3000?
I have 2 48v 5000 in parallel and one 48v 3000 in my storage container running alone.

Nice Video man. I got the shineWIFI-F Adapter because this one is especially for the SPF5000 ES Off-Grid-Inverter. Now i wanna install and the Wifi which is broadcasted by the adapter has password and this is nowhere to find. So i could not connect to this network and i could not install the adapter. 😞I even reset the adapter but same problem again and again. Do you have any idea to solve or do you know a factory password? Thanks and greetings from germany.

Are you referring to the password on the website when you go to server-us.growatt.com? You have to set up an account.
The password is 12345678

Hello. I tried to connect my datalogger but does not work. If I see the datalogger network on my computer, it says "secured" and not open. How can I solve this ? Thanks Wim

Maybe it's been said, maybe it hasn't, but if this piece of sh presents a secured adhoc network when we drop to AP mode, unlike the open network shown here, the password will be the same as this video shows for the admin console: 12345678. Ask me how I know?

@@pawneeoffgrid2614 lol, I thought that's what you might be worried about. ABSOLUTELY NOT! The comment was made on the same frustrating day that you and everyone else here had, trying to get this adapter configured. As an IT Operations Engineer, I spent about 3 hours more than it should have taken on this thing. Its size is 10x larger than it needs to be, should not be an external dongle and instructions shipped did not describe a wireless AP configuration, but rather a more IoT device setup.
This device, most especially the initial setup, was a piece of sh. It works okay now that it's configured, but still has issues. FYI all, it does not deal well with heat. Data ingestion will come to a halt if the device gets too hot.
