Thank you Dr. VT for sharing your thoughts. Some people of Jesus day, having seen His miracles and mighty works that no man did, still went out to find a way to kill Him (ref. Luke22:2), it is not surprising that great leaders get bouquets and brickbats. Praise God for Dr. KPY's marvelous life contributions to society. 'For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance...'
No doubt KP led a simple life style and out of the wealth he attained, some money was utilised for the wellbeing of the poor and helping pastors and others who are labouring for Christ in various parts of the country. But God give emphasis to faithfulness and integrity in His servants' life irrespective of what he did for God. Money is not at all an important aspect for doing the Lord's ministry but faithfulness/trust in God is. Eliah's/Elisha's God is still alive to take care of His servants. What God expects from us is that even if we could do only a little, that must be with utmost dedication, sincerity and faithfulness without blemish. Solomon also failed miserably in this matter though he made a beautiful temple for the Lord. That's why he exhorts in Proverbs:4:23 like this. "Keep thy heart with all diligence, for the origin of eternal life is from it.". The word of God also exhorts us in 1st John:2:16 to stay away from lust of eyes, lust of flesh and pride of life which is not from God but from the world which is now lying under the influence of satan. Paul emphatically says, the love of the world is enemity with God and such people cannot please God whoever he/she may be
Your "But" is a big but. Can you please elaborate where he was unfaithful? He lived simple life, he spent all money for God's work. He did not love the world, he was not lustful with his eyes, he was not given to pride of life. So what does the "but" mean? Are there many such examples of such a life among the RCs or IOCs or Jacobites or Marthomites or Pentecostals. I'm not a BEC member though.
Do you - Rev. Valsan Thambu, really believe that the Lord would say to K.P. Yohanan, “𝘞𝘦𝘭𝘭 𝘥𝘰𝘯𝘦, 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘧𝘢𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘢𝘯𝘵??” 🤔 That he was an eloquent speaker, I'll concede.
Looks like K P's mind was still Eastern. Ends justifies the means...How is this wise brother Valson? How is this Christian? I dont think he was western in terms of values...
I wonder this is an assessment by a spiritual person, of a spiritually accomplished person, for the benefit of people interested in matters spiritual, or one by a spiritual person of a spiritually-began-but- unethically- ended hero!? You seem to justify the means (KPY'colossal amassment of wealth for Gospel; you even glorified it his entrepreneurial/organizational capability), with its end - a miniscule use of it in charity and major chunks going into immovable property investments for the safe legacy of his church, which you characteristically abhor: I have my own doubt about it because of his heavily centralized system of management. The parable of the 'talents' did help me to reflect on my accountability towards God & man.
Glad to know
Time and quality consciousness of western culture is a contribution of christian values and ethos....
Very true
